  1. ^ There is already a thread with a similar subject on the forum: What coaster do you hate that everyone else loves?
  2. Oh wow, I forgot that the track dropped all the way to the footings coming out of the immelmann. I think they're going to need a bigger crane to complete the immelmann and loop.
  3. The park posted a short Hard Hat Chronicles video yesterday. Nothing that we haven't talked about or seen yet, but you get a small look at the elevation differences in the land in this video. Also, it appears that there will be a catwalk on the launch, unless it's just temporary for the construction process. I only say that because it was not in the concept art. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXHdhDN5374
  4. Same thing with me. I think the incredible pacing is what has really grabbed my attention the most. I could say that about all the RMC's so far, but those two are the ones that standout the most to me.
  5. Checkout this cool video the park shot with their HoliDrone getting up close and personal with Thunderbird's track. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152441231799538&set=vb.35385539537&type=2&theater This comment on the video made me laugh:
  6. So I was at the St. Louis Cardinals game today and it was Six Flags day at the park. There were people there to promote Fright Fest, including the marketing director and some the zombie actors. I thought that the massive screw up of Six Flags marketing was limited to the corporate level. Oh I was so wrong. The girl the Cardinals had promoting Fright Fest on the jumbotron was calling it Scare Fest and said it was starting in November. The Marketing Director/PR guy was there and I'm sorry, but if someone is going to be speaking in front of 44,000 plus people about my park, I might make sure they know what they're talking about. Ohh but this wasn't this guys only screw up. They were interviewing him and he screwed up the Fright Fest motto. Instead of saying Thrills by day and Fright by night, he said Fright by Day and Thrills by Night. 44,000 plus people. So they're supposed show up in November for Scare Fest and expect to do all the haunted attractions during the day and ride the rides at night. Good job Six Flags (and this is as a chain), you screwed up again.
  7. They've probably worked out some deal with LeBron where instead of paying for the rights to use his name or anything he has copyrighted, they're just going to make a yearly donation to his Ipromise campaign.
  8. Now that they got the mess cleaned up, it doesn't appear to be as bad as I thought. As I said before, it could have been a lot worse. Kudos to those RMC guys for not letting anything slow them down!
  9. Wow! The pacing of all these RMC coasters are incredible and this one is no different.
  10. Another piece of track is getting ready to be put in place! Edit: Never mind, appears they left it there to be put in place on Monday.
  11. ^ I never got to hear Dan and Pat's recording after closing, but I will always remember Will and Pat's. Haven't stayed that late since Will's kids and Matt have taken over, but I really hope they've done something or will do something similar to that. As others have mentioned, it is these small things that remind you that this is no ordinary park.
  12. ^ I'm not sure about this one, but based on one of their recent IAAPA interviews, they're still selling new ones.
  13. Wonder if they will have track on those supports by Friday?
  14. Holiday World: Tied between Wildebeest and Voyage. I really can't decide which one I've had more fun on! Six Flags St. Louis: American Thunder. I absolutely love everything about that coaster.
  15. ^ Haven't looked at the construction cam in a few days, so please tell me they're coming toward the camera? Edit: Now that it is daylight, I can see what you're talking about.
  16. ^ You can check out a picture of the topped off lift on the parks official Instagram account:
  17. I was going to put this on here yesterday, but I forgot about it. Anyways, the park tweeted this photo yesterday, saying "Thunderbird track count: 5 up and 72 to go." Just seeing the trees surround the track makes me happy!
  18. Oh for crying out loud, this stuff happens, nothing is wrong with how RMC builds their coasters or deconstructs them. As long as the structure below the collapsed section is intact and safe, this really shouldn't be that big of an issue to replace, it just creates a lot more work for all those involved. I'm glad they got the fire out before it got any larger. I mean, painted wood + Southern California weather+ fire usually equals disaster waiting to happen. So they're lucky it was contained to that section only.
  19. Just some full time staff and construction workers, it's pretty light day as far as guests are concerned One would assume!
  20. Technically, they are, but really they just have designated areas assigned where people can go smoke. So outside of those areas you're not allowed to smoke in the park.
  21. Wonder if they're going to go through the process of getting Thunderbird's trademark switched over to the parks actual LLC company?
  22. ^ It's a matter of personal opinion, and yours does seem a bit biased. Not that I have much room to talk about being biased..
  23. I don't think they really give a sh!t. A stupid awards ceremony isn't going to affect what they add to the park in the future. I think they cares. The huge banner at the resort entrance next to Magnum shows it. If no other award makes them the best amusement park in the world, they might lose some attention on their advertisements. GP love gimmicks and CP used gimmicks pretty well. These parks will always find something to use to say they're the best. They can still claim they're the top park in the United States. Sometimes some top websites or magazines produce a poll. For example, The Voyage at HW lost it's #1 ranking on The Voyage in the Golden Tickets a few years back. Several months later, Times Magazine produced a poll saying The Voyage was the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world. Guess what, the park still says The Voyage is the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world, just according to Times Magazine now. The GP will buy the propaganda you throw at them as long as the source sounds credible. Anyways, Cedar Point is Cedar Point, they don't need any accolades at this point to sell their park to anyone.
