  1. I just got back from an Orlando/Tampa trip and was able to ride Iron Gwazi. It was a fantastic ride, but it unfortunately did not live up to the hype for me. I rode Velocicoaster earlier in the week, and I much preferred it; it really shows how far theming can go to make an experience complete! Comparing to other RMCs, I put it behind Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers. Interestingly, I really enjoy the second half of SV that brutally nails you with a bunch of airtime hills that was described above. Because of the length of SV, it also feels like more of a dramatic experience. Even though IG has incredible pacing until the end of the ride, it feels as though it runs out of elements during the second half. The first drop, sideways airtime hill, barrel roll of death (way more crazy than I expected) and wave turn are incredible. After that, the stall and twisty bits just don't match up. It is kind of the opposite of Velocicoaster, which ramps up from beginning to end.
  2. I wouldn't rely on Volcano being open, but if it is it usually has the longest line. Flight of Fear and Twisted Timbers can get long as well. Unless you want to get quite a few rides on every coaster, I don't think Fast Lane will be necessary. Get there right at park opening and do the ones mentioned above first and you should be good to go. I can't really give any advice on hotels and such. As far as favorite seats, mine are: Back: TT, I305, Anaconda, Grizzly, Racer, Avalanche, Dominator Front: All others If you get multiple rides, I would recommend doing TT and I305 in the front too. Good luck and have fun!
  3. I got 3 rides in yesterday and loved it. The only other rmc I have ridden in Wicked Cyclone, so that’s my only comparison. I loved WC, but I felt it did sort of drag during the last portion of the ride. After reading reviews that TT had a similar problem, I was anxious. I am happy to report that is NOT the case. It hauls all the way to the brakes. The airtime is great and relentless. It beats I305 for the best coaster in the park imo.
  4. As far as nighttime shows, Illuminations is by far my favorite. In terms of daytime "theater-like" shows, Celtic Fyre at BGW wins.
  5. B&M- Apocalypse at SFA. I am not a fan of stand ups at all, but this one takes the cake as the worst for me. In fact, I prefer the now-defunct Shockwave Togo at KD to this. Intamin- There hasn't been an Intamin I've hated, but Skull Mountain has to be my least favorite. This is probably more due to the cheesy theming than the actually ride (though I know it has quite a following . . . .) GCI- Wildcat at Hershey. I have only ridden it once, but that was enough. I found it to be pretty terrible.
  6. Great report! KD is one of my home parks, so I'm always glad to see positive reviews. It seems that enthusiasts have recently been giving Fury more praise than Intimidator; I still haven't ridden Fury, but my intamin fanboy-ness is happy that Intimidator measured up to it for you!
  7. B&M- Apocalypse at SFA GCI- Wildcat at Hershey (I despise this coaster more than most) Intamin- Skull Mountain at SFGA
  8. Hypersonic XLC at KD used to have a pretty loud launch. I remember it used to make me jump when I was walking by not prepared for it
  9. Thanks Elissa! That is how it seemed from the POV. Probably a good call by the park; I love Skyrush, but it seems to push the limits of what the GP is comfortable with based on how divided the community is on it.
  10. Tempesto still bothers me. I just think of light blue spaghetti.
  11. Awesome report- it's great to see queue lines themed to something other than concrete and sunburn. Robb, how would you compare Flying Aces to Skyrush ( ) in terms of intensity? I know they have immensely different layouts, but I'm still curious as an Intamin fanboy.
  12. If anything over 200 ft- 1. Intimidator 305 2. Skyrush 3. Millennium Force If only 200-299 ft- 1. Skyrush 2. Superman SFNE 3. Nitro
  13. Got a ride in today. I think this is a great addition- in fact, I believe it suits the role of "family coaster" better than verbolten. When the lines eventually die down, this will be another very good rerideable coaster at BGW.
  14. Was at the park today for the first time! We had a lot of fun. I enjoyed the variety of coasters, though felt the park lacked a "standout" one.... Oh wait! LR was closed though, and we didn't see any trains testing at all. Tennessee Tornado was a pleasant surprise. We walked on and sat in the front. The last bump of airtime into the breakrun was awesome. Definitely my favorite Arrow with Loch Ness. FireChaser Express was a good family coaster, but not worth the 45 min wait we had. Perhaps worth it for those who fancy less intense coasters. I liked Mystery Mine. Great theming packed into a really short track length. A bit rough, but nothing too serious. Wild Eagle was my first wing coaster. I liked it more than any B&M floorless, but not as much as most hypers, flyers, etc. Fun but a bit underwhelming. Blazing Fury- pretty dark and strange. Not a huge fan. Thunderhead- a really great wooden coaster. Strangely, it didn't attract many guests. Perhaps because of the location? A non-rollercoaster, but we really loved Mountain Slidewinder! It was a really fun, unique family-friendly ride. I loved the park. The theming, food, and staff were excellent. The mountain setting is breathtaking. I hope to visit again soon to get on LR!
  15. 1. Tower of Terror WDW 2. Mission Space 3. Falcon's Fury 4. Test Track 5. People Mover of course! 6. Dinosaur 7. Haunted Mansion 8. Midway Mania 9. Pirates of the Caribbean 10. Zumanjaro Dominated by Disney besides Falcon's Fury and Zumanjaro
  16. I agree that they will probably never top the charts, but I really do love their flyers! Manta is up their as one of my favorite coasters. They haven't really been pushing the envelope with them recently though . . . .
  17. Random order: Kings Dominion- Intimidator + Volcano SFGA- El Toro + Kingda Ka Hershey- Skyrush + Storm Runner CP- Maverick + Millenium Force Magic Kingdom- Space Mountain + Big Thunder Mountain (classics) I would say SFNE with Wicked Cyclone and Bizzaro (when I rode it), but Bizzaro was such a let down. Perhaps it was just having a bad day?
  18. Went to the park on Tuesday and got my first ride on The Joker! I think it is a good clone- probably my 2nd favorite behind a Premier Sky Rocket. However, it was an even shorter experience than I expected, and the sensation wasn't too far from a typical Topspin. Definitely not worth too long of a wait. Though I have only been to the park a few times, Nitro was running significantly better than my previous visits; not sure why. I felt it had more floater than any other B&M hyper I have ridden. Still, I prefer Apollo's Chariot. P.S. El Toro still kicks ass
  19. Positive: I305 pre any change Negative: Skyrush Lateral: Probably somewhere on Maverick
  20. Apollo is my fav B&M hyper, though I am biased because Busch is my home park. However, I being my favorite "B&M Hyper" doesn't put it high on my list lol. I much prefer Intamin settings.
  21. It seems like the decision has been made to go to Holiday World! I will keep bringing up KK and hope they give in for a quick stop lol. I am actually going to Dollywood next week, so HOPEFULLY I can get my rmc fix then, but who knows.
  22. Thank you all for your input! It seems like Holiday World is the best choice, weather permitting. Tykunkel, is there a reason you didn't get on The Raven?
  23. We won't be going to the waterpark, and it is hard to turn down airtime . . . unfortunately there is someone in the group that doesn't ride coasters and Holiday World just seems like a nicer overall park. Tough decision! Thanks for the input so far.
  24. If it were just me, that is what I would do. However, I am with others who only want to do 1 park (ridiculous right!?!?!?) so I have to choose.
