  1. They're lifting more pieces into place this morning including a piece of track about 30 minutes ago down towards the start of the zero-G stall.
  2. This lift is 45 degrees. How steep is Outlaw Run's lift? Also, some track is being lifted up now... Also, it looks like they've finally finished up their work at the overbank turn (except for the remaining top layers of the topper track) and have the big crane over by the lift now.
  3. There's still quite a bit to do. They have to finish the lift and drop as you said, plus complete the arch for the zero-G stall (which is technically apart of the lift structure), and add track to the zero-G stall and remainder of the lift and drop. Once all the track is in place, they will fill the topper track and then place the final pieces of the top layer (orange section) of the topper track throughout the ride. Hopefully the majority of the structure and track will be finished this coming week. I wonder if the trains will arrive on site this week or next.
  4. Here's some interesting photos that Goku1910 from SFGAm World posted from today's private event. There are interesting markings around Demon, especially on the pathway that crosses under the brake run... Photos by Goku1910
  5. Spacely's Sprocket Rockets is in motion on the Goliath webcam as a private event at the park is going on right now. Someone's who attending the event said that all coasters are running at full capacity except Raging Bull, Demon, and Whizzer which are running 2 trains and X-Flight which is running just 1 train. It's nice to see everything else running 2 trains, especially Eagle red, Viper, and Superman. Eagle blue isn't running today.
  6. Yep, the new media date they are sending out to media is May 29th so it looks like they are aiming for May 31st. They must be pretty confident in finishing this up in the next couple weeks to start testing.
  7. Next part of the lift/start of the Zero-G stall's arch steel structure is going up now. Update as of 4:26 Central: Another piece is going up now. 2nd Update: New Goliath Insider video is here:
  8. It appears to be this section of the steel structure... I'm not sure though.
  9. That's all true, but it's sort of besides the point, because even if they had announced a date they would have covered themselves with fine print. Even if it is/was ready, you never know when you're going to have a rainstorm or something close the ride all day, so they'd never be dumb enough to have a guarenteed date. That's why I'm saying it's a good thing they haven't officially announced a date for it yet to the general public. At least not until after the ride is complete and they can start testing. A rainstorm or something weather related that occurs on the ride's opening day is not something they can control so they can't be blamed for that.
  10. Right, which is why the park never announced an official date beyond the media. However, that date slipped out to the general public fairly quickly after No Coaster Con so a lot of people on SFGAm's social media pages already have May 24th in their heads as Goliath's opening date. No one can sue the park though still because technically they didn't announce that as an official date for the ride to the general public.
  11. So it's RMC's fault for working as hard and fast as they possibly can through one of the worst winters we've had in northern Illinois in a long time? May 24th was the park's "target" date which is why the park refused to announce it as an "official" opening date for the ride in case it isn't ready to go for May 24th.
  12. Bottom of the first drop is going in this morning...
  13. No they wont. Media day as planned for the 22nd with an official opening the 23 I believe. They will be lucky if they have this ride testing by then. Media day is the 22nd, season pass preview day is the 23rd, and opening day is the 24th of May. However, it's looking like Goliath will open in June.
  14. The pathway is suppose to be open still. They will probably just have barriers of some sort in front of the whole entrance and where they are building the little gift shop. They actually promoted opening weekend in their latest news letter by saying you can swing by to get a sneak peek of the construction going, probably meaning from the pathway in front of the ride.
  15. Yep, it is. I think SFGAm just FEELS a lot more crowded because size wise it's a lot smaller. Last year KI's attendance was 3,206,000 (15th busiest in N. America) The busiest Six Flags park was Magic Mountain at 2,808,000 (19th place). SFGAm didn't even crack into the top 20. I don't believe SFGAm has given out an actual number of attendance in many years. It does surprise me though that SFGAm doesn't receive more people than KI because how large the Chicagoland area is compared to the other cities in Ohio. Plus, Ohio already has Cedar Point a few hours away from KI. Not saying you're wrong, just found that interesting.
  16. I shared this video back on page 697 but that's okay because I agree, this video is really cool! It really gives you an idea of how tall this will be.
  17. ^Thanks for sharing. There's also a new video up on Lake County's YouTube channel which shows that the former station of Iron Wolf is indeed getting extending back some to accommodate the longer RMC trains. Here's a screenshot I took, though the quality was poor. The video: Oh, and go Blackhawks!
  18. Alan Schilke's mullet and other awesome creations of his.
  19. In no particular order... Seinfeld Psych Everybody Loves Raymond There's a few others. I can't exactly put one over the other because it depends what mood I'm in.
  20. Nothing special, but Rockford is my home. I think SFGAm has 3 rides taller than anything in downtown Rockford's skyline outside of radio/TV towers.
  21. I saw we had an Instagram thread but didn't see a Twitter thread. Share your Twitter accounts here! Follow me: @DaaaBearsFan I always follow back except accounts that have been inactive for a very long time. I do tweet a lot about sports, but also about theme parks and occasionally personal stuff. I'm more active on Twitter than anything else.
  22. Mine is: @tylermains I do follow back, just not accounts that are inactive for months. I'll be posting a lot of sports photos in the coming weeks with the NHL and NBA playoffs beginning, but I'll also be posting a lot of coaster stuff with SFGAm opening soon.
  23. Went through some old Facebook photos and came across this one that I took back in 2007 I believe. The entire outdoor park was closed because it was the off season. There was this guy (either staff or a trespasser) surfing down some water slides when there wasn't any guests on the property.
  24. 40 days from today until the planned opening for Goliath. Track was added to the lift today and... more snow here in northern Illinois. From SFGAm's Instagram:
