Favorite Drop From Each Park
GoBears replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I completely forgot about The Boss' dip after the first drop. That's actually my favorite drop in the park, not Screamin' Eagle's. -
Curious as to whether this applies to just testing of a ride - I would imagine that the noise complaints (and laws) are concerned with people screaming beyond a certain time, so (and I don't know the restrictions like someone local might) maybe they would be able to circulate trains overnight during the testing period seeing as there would be minimal noise? It's using poly wheels and the concrete grout also minimizes the sound coming from the track. You'll have to be in the park to hear it more than likely. Outlaw Run uses steel wheels and doesn't sound as loud as other wooden coasters. The only thing that's really loud on Outlaw Run is the chain lift. I love it though because it sounds like a traditional clanky wooden roller coaster lift, yet it's far from being a traditional wooden roller coaster.

I was just wondering, what is your favorite drop from each park you have been to? It can be the first drop of a certain roller coaster, a specific drop during the course of a ride, a water ride, or even a drop tower. Hopefully this topic hasn't been done before because I did a search. Anyways, here's my list: Cedar Point - First drop of Maverick. Kings Island - First drop on Diamondback. Mt. Olympus - The final drop on Cyclops. Silver Dollar City - First drop of Outlaw Run. Six Flags Great America - Raging Bull's first drop. This could change after Goliath opens. Six Flags St. Louis - Screamin' Eagle's first drop. Timber Falls - HellCat's first drop. Universal Islands of Adventure - Dudley Doo Right's final drop. Universal Studios Florida - HRRR's first drop. Walt Disney World - Tower of Terror at the start of the drop sequence. It's funny hearing everyone's reactions who are taken by surprise. I excluded a few smaller parks that didn't have any drops worth noting and I combined all of the WDW parks into one since I only enjoyed Tower of Terror's drops. I went there before Everest opened.

The view from the top of the lift should be great. You can see the whole park to your left and if you look to your far right, you'll be able to see the Downtown Chicago skyline. One of my favorite things about riding American Eagle is seeing the Chicago skyline on a clear day and you'll definitely be able to see it from Goliath as well. In other words, you'll be able to see 40+ miles from the top of this.

It does appear there are blackish belts on the seats. I couldn't tell if they were the brown padding on the seats or seat belts. Either way, it won't effect the ride experience at all. I rode Outlaw Run with seat belts a few weeks ago and I didn't even notice the seat belts at all during the ride. The only thing it did was slow down the loading times but SDC's crews are known to work a bit slower because they're more cautious.

Had a fairly quick trip to SFGAm but I mainly went to activate my gold pass, get some photos of Goliath before it opens in a few weeks, and of course get on at least a couple rides. First of all, the new biometric system took forever. With that said, I understand it went slow because it was opening day, a lot of employees are still getting use to the new system, and everyone is activating their passes at once. However, if you add in the time waiting at the front gates with the biometric scanners and the fact that you still have to go Hometown Square anyways to activate your pass, it actually took more time than the previous method of getting a photo ID. Some changes I noticed right away are some new signs in front of the park and new blacktop as you enter the parking lot. I got there an hour before the park opened and still waited close to 30 minutes on Six Flags Parkway just to get to the parking booth to park my car. For some reason they weren't letting anyone file into Carousel Plaza like normal so everyone was getting backed up at the gates until close to 10:30 when the park officially opened. I first headed to Hometown Square to activate my gold pass which took about 20 minutes or so. I headed to X-Flight and only waited about 5 minutes to get on. I then went to American Eagle and got a ride on the red side. The blue side was closed but the red side is my favorite so I was okay with that. I got some photos of Goliath and some other places around the park before I headed over to Gurnee Mills to grab a few things and headed home. Can't wait to head back in a few weeks when Goliath opens! By the way, it looks massive in person. The webcam obviously doesn't do it justice. Flash Pass center received some new paint colors this off season. Sky Trek Tower ran during the first hour or so and then closed. Maybe because of wind. X-Flight was running 2 trains today! A view of Goliath from X-Flight's station. American Eagle looking beautiful as always, but could definitely use some fresh white paint! A look at Goliath from the County Fair midway by Revolution. Dive loop looks so much bigger in person! Thrillseekers gift shop and new coke snack stand outside of Goliath. Up, up, and away! A view from Camp Cartoon. Overbank turn from Camp Cartoon. An ACE landmark and ACE classic in one shot. Did Condor receive a new bird on top or repaint? Something looks different. EDIT: Never mind. It must be because the "Condor" sign isn't up there by it. See you in a few weeks when the giant comes to life!
