Shut up. You know what they mean. She died from riding and falling from the train. Do NOT tell our members to "shut up!" If you want to end up getting banned from TPR, you're doing a great job at it! --Robb "Will NOT tolerate that kind of behaviour from our members...got it?" Alvey Fine. Thought they were not serious considering there are about 3 links in the last 2 pages about the accident. I apologize to Skycoastin Steve.

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
alwaysairtime14 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was at Rye Playland yesterday. Their Hopkins Shoot the Chute ride closed midday. The cause- a wheel fell off Now I prefer chain parks that just say "Technical Difficulties" instead of the actual cause. No more Playland Plunge for me! -
Rides you would ameliorate?
alwaysairtime14 replied to CPmillenia94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Boulder Dash: Extend first drop 20 feet to the base of the mountain. Have the turnaround be a 90 degree banked turn. Bizarro: Old trains and add more S-shields. Am I the only one addicted to those things? Cyclone SFNE: Restore first drop. Complete RMTT restoration. Nitro: Lessen all the trim brakes. Maybe it was a rare occurrence, but the 2 days I was at the park I got little to no air on that ride. -
Best Drops....
alwaysairtime14 replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wood: Bolder Dash's first drop is really intense I find. Back seat of the Cyclone at SFNE gives massive ejector air. Steel: The first drop on any GIB is epic. The freefall while looking straight down is amazing. It looks like you're headed straight for the ground. -
Cyclone and Gloiath will shut down when it rains. Everything except Houdini and the bumper cars will be down in a thunderstorm. In the morning it was cloudy and in the low 80s, then the sun came out at 1, and everyone fled to the waterpark. Even before the sun came out Bizarro and Goliath both had short 30 minute waits.

I would not get a flash pass tomorrow. I just had the most awesome day I can remember at SFNE!!! 4:00 Bizarro was walk into the station. I walked into the first row of Mind Eraser. Goliath had a one train wait. Batman two train wait. Blizzard River walk on and stayed on for 3 more re-rides. Cyclone and Thunderbolt were the fastest and wildest rides I have ever experienced. I was white-knuckle on Cyclone...I've only done that on Goliath and any launch tower. The best part- the forecast for tomorrow is the same. cmullin, I see people have doubted me on my "no dead hour" (which I still didn't notice ) but I am positive you will not need a Flash Pass. The high humidity and high temps are causing huge lines in the waterpark and a dead drypark. Operations were as I expected. All trains running, Goliath did not break down (I didn't say that at all last year) , only broken ride were the bumper cars for ten minutes. Twister SBNO. Really, I don't say this much. but no complaints for the day. I've been to SFNE a dozen times in the past 4 years. Today, like Bizarro, was #1.

This is just not true. Everytime I've been to SFNE in the past 8 years I have headed to Bizarro (aka Rise of Steel) at opening and was able to get 4-5 rides in the first hour with the line barely extending past the bottom of the stairs. If you go to Bizarro at noon you are guaranteed at least a 30 minute wait. There are certainly people filling at least half of the set of switchbacks closest to the stairs by noon. Well, I'll be there tomorrow to double check that. I've never seen anything close to what you're talking about. But I have seen the line at Bizarro up to the stairs at noon...but it was 103 degrees that day. We heard the waterpark was busy though... You've never seen shorter lines for Bizarro in the morning and longer lines in the afternoon? Or are you saying it is still practically a walk-on at noon when you visit? I've never seen noticeably longer or shorter lines on Bizarro at anytime before 8. The 103 degree day was a freak event, I'm not saying that lines are walk-on at noon. I'm just hinting that everything is so weather dependent it's really hard to tell how lines will be until you're at the park. I don't know what days you go, but I've always gone Monday-Thursday on hot days, so maybe it's different when you visit.

FRESH Theme Park Food
alwaysairtime14 replied to lakeeriemonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^^^ lol, he does have a point. I can consider Fried Oreos fresh once they come off the fryer. Mmmmmm, fried oreos. -
^^^^ You'll get a 5-10 minute backup at the parking toll booth. Buy your tickets ahead of time, the main gate will be packed at that time. You won't be missing out on anything by coming an hour and a half after opening. The park fills up quickly from 10:30-1, so it's not like there's that "dead" first hour that you get at some parks. And since you're coming that late, I'd eat out of the park. I've had days where food stands are walk-up, and other days when you wait 15 minutes before ordering when the actual attendance of the park is the same.

Go Wednesday. It'll be 90 degrees, so everyone will be in the waterpark. Bizarro will have lines 30-45 minutes, which are bearable. I can't say for Goliath, I went to SFNE twice last year and it was only open once. Thursday it will be 85 with thunderstorms, making the dry park busy (50% chance of rain isn't enough to scare anybody away), and everything except the bumper cars and Houdini will be closed if it does t-storm. Canobie is a fun park, but Goliath and "a few others" are much better than the Yankee Cannonball and Untamed. Watch out for the Canobie fanboys on this board that try to tell you otherwise I'll be there Tuesday so I can give you a better report late that night.

July 4th / Independence Day crowds

I heard there was an hour wait just to leave the parking lot at SFNE, after you waited 2 hours to enter the waterpark. -
FRESH Theme Park Food
alwaysairtime14 replied to lakeeriemonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At SFNE they have a wrap place that also serves salads. Best food in the park. I would love to see parks with salad bars and frozen yogurt. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
alwaysairtime14 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OMG yes! I've never been so scared on a pirate ship in my life! I was gripping onto the bar so much it hurt! I don't even sit in the back of Pharoh's Fury anymore, the second to last row is enough thrill for me! -
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 1. Definitely Six Flags. Hershey, being a family park, will be even more crowded than Great Adventure. Plus, Hershey can't touch Great Adventure's rides and roller coasters (minus Storm Runner). EDIT: Meant to say Sky Rush, I get the names confused. 2. Idk, sorry. 3. Can't say for sure, but I got my 2012 pass mid-July and they still had booklets, most likely yes. 4. $25 bring-a-friend tickets any day in July (yes, I checked the fine print, don't worry!). 5. Get there 1/2 hour before the park opens and the pass processing hut will be open. Once in there it's a 10-20 minute wait. Maybe since it's the 4th, 30 minutes tops. My tip- get there early, and buy your pass online so you only have to process it, not buy it. Hope I can help! Other tips: Get to El Toro and Kingdo Ka first thing. The Nitro line will look long, but moves fast. Being in the back of the park, Bizarro usually has short lines. Don't even bother with Superman. Short ride, LONG, slow line.

^^^^^^ Oh yeah, those ride ops want to fit you on Bizarro! I've seen some pretty pissed people been given the boot off that ride. The ride attendants are always the first people to know when someone's angry! Really sucks for them though, you'd think that the park would have a permanent security guard to deal with those type of people since it seems every 5 trains someone is kicked off.

What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
alwaysairtime14 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goliath or any inverted boomerang. The vertical ascent is terrifying for me. Legs dangling while looking straight down 180 feet over asphalt is not fun. All drop towers can be interesting at the top. Wild mouses used to have me in a white knuckle grip! Seriously!
