  1. Probably not. There is a 300 ft. height restriction on the park due to the near by public Flying Cloud Airport. It is why the S&S Power Tower at VF is only 275 feet tall instead of 300 like at the other Cedar Fair parks that have the same style drop tower. They could alter the height and put one in I'm sure if they wanted but this park needs other attractions before a swing tower like that in my opinion. But I certainly wouldn't mind the views it would provide over looking the river valley if they did put one in.
  2. That silence you hear is a lack of an announcement this year. Looks like another year of 'general improvements' for the park in 2014. For the last 2 seasons and now 2014 the only attraction they have added are the Dino's. Ouch! But then again, VF is second to last in revenue for the Cedar Fair chain so the park can never expect to get a new addition or attraction every other year like the bigger parks of the company. We'll see if the off season brings any removals like the old amphitheater that has not been on the park map the last 2 years or something else to indicate an addition in the future. They know they will need to add something if they want to keep attendance growing. VF may be the red headed step child of Cedar Fair but at least they have not treated us as bad as MA......yet.
  3. Is this where Ultra Man shops for his condom needs? Is this where Ultra Man shops for his condom needs?
  4. I really enjoy Diamondback for the floater air throughout the ride, fun stuff. On the first hill in the front car of Wild Thing is a pretty nice airtime drop, too bad the rest of the ride is so average.
  5. Went to VF today and Steel Venom was not running. Talked to three ride operators on different rides and they did not know why and/or did not want to tell me so I never found out why. Anyone on here know anything?
  6. If it could be a Raptor clone or better I totally agree with you. Since we see B&M making an invert again it is possible. It would fit in great at the park and provide the park with a marketable new coaster that has inversions which has not happened to the park since 1980 when Corkscrew was added.
  7. With new seat belts Iron Rattler is now a considered a 'new' credit correct? Too bad I never got the old one. Great to see it back up and running though.
  8. Thanks for your trip report, entertaining as usual. You look mighty comfortable on this ride.
  9. - Every person trying to defend a new B&M 2001-2013 Not trying to defend any B&M at all. I have no loyalty or own any stock in the company. Just don't understand how someone will know it will be boring without riding it. As the wise coaster sage who lives In the lair of the Huge Hummel Boy wrote, "...I'm not going to make any judgments on Banshee, either, until I've ridden it for myself or heard from others whose opinions I trust..." Seems to me that's pretty smart reasoning there. Except for Diamondback (love the floater air), I don't really like any of the B&M's made since Raging Bull (1999) either. I agree they lack any real force or thrills compared to the older ones and don't even get me started about wing riders. But with this ride being the longest and fastest inverted coaster maybe B&M will find their mojo again or maybe not, we'll have to wait and see.
  10. I am loving how much all the haters are telling us this ride will be big, boring and force less from only a few simulation videos and photo's without even riding the ride yet.
  11. Granted, a park is going to say good things about whichever manufacturer has been selected to build their new ride(s), but I can't help but take this as a slight swing at some recent, less-reliable manufacturers for CF (e.g. Intamin and Mondial). Perhaps I'm reading too much into it! haha I noticed that too and I don't think you are reading too much into it. Like you say, of course they are going to say only good things about a manufacturer they just picked for their new ride but it seems like they are going a little bit over the top in emphasizing this on the KI website and also at the announcement ceremony last night. While it may be true to an extent I hope this doesn't scare CF away from picking Intamin rides in the future for their chain because they make the majority of my favorite coasters.
  12. You are correct, it is not a rough ride but it is a jerky ride for your head and neck due to the quick transitions in the lopsided figure eight. This is why I think most people call it 'rough' when it is actually not. And yes, once you ride it a dozen times you figure out how to brace yourself for those quick transitions and it can be an OK or decent ride but definitely not a good one since you have to make that effort. Maybe if it was longer or had different train cars with a lower profile and center of gravity to handle the figure eight forces it could become a good ride.
  13. As mentioned, High Roller has a few minor rough spots but just sit in the middle seat of any car and not on a wheel spoke, this will help smooth out the ride for you. Renegade is a GCI that is 5 years old and runs great. It is a woody so it will throw you around a little but nothing to hurt you at all so enjoy. You may want to avoid the back seat though if your 'woody adverse'. Personally that is my favorite seat for Renegade. Watch out for Excalibur (our mutant mine train ride), it will be a jerky ride so watch the head and neck. There are bins for all of the rides. Fanny packs are accepted on all of the coasters except Steel Venom sometimes, it depends on the ride ops running it at the time and if they notice it. The park is more crowded on the weekends obviously but you do not need a Fast Pass unless you are pressed for time. You can probably ride all 8 coasters in about 4-5 hours on a weekend or Friday with a re-ride on at least one of them. You'll need more time to hit anything else in the park. Hit the Mad Mouse coaster first since it has the worst queue line due to trains that only seat 4 people which causes slow loading times. Hit Steel Venom on the way out because it is closest to the entrance/exit. If you want the best air on Wild Thing sit in the front car in any of the rows, first row being the best though. Hope this helps plan your visit. I usually go for a few hours every weekend so if you are out there on Saturday and need a guide drop me a PM.
  14. "The new trains were pretty cool. Certainly gave you more of a feeling of "speed" than the previous ones." That's all I needed to hear. Dear CedarFair, Please order some of these trains for Wild Thing. Thank you.
  15. It has nothing to do with you being from Germany. This looks like a nice tight layout with with some sweet 'twistyness'. You will be having fun soon, thanks for the pictures.
  16. I have only been on X-Flight and I don't hate or love it, I just really like it and nothing more. It was fun for sure but it lacks intensity due to the wide wing span of the cars which limit how fast and sharp you can make a turn. They are a hits with the GP and probably will continue to be but there are 15-20 year old hyper coasters that pack more thrills and fun into the ride for me like Raging Bull at the same park. If you can you should try to get on one this summer, they are fun and you will not be disappointed but if you are a big coaster fan just don't expect it to get on your top 10 list.
  17. Wicked Twister is made by Intamin though, not B&M.
  18. Think I will be doing some 'old school' viewing myself.
  19. I have on Millennium Force and it felt like little pins hitting your face, thankfully I had my sunglasses on to protect my eyes. They shut it down 2 trains after ours arrived back at the station due to the complaints of other riders and the rain starting to fall at a faster rate.
  20. Same for me on Saturday and when I went last night. (Got stuck on Wild Thing's lift hill for a couple of minutes last night ). They definitely have adjusted the mid brake allowing for more speed coming back and allowing air on the bunny hills for the first time since the wheel came off a train in 2005. Digging it. I rode High Roller on Saturday in the last car middle seat and had a good ride. When I do have bad rides it seems I am in the back seat of any of the High Roller cars, don't know why that is so you may want to try again. Thanks for the information on Excalibur. I may have to try next time, I usually do not ride it until late in the season just to see how it still runs.
  21. For me no contest, amusement parks all he way! I prefer thrills over theming any day. To me amusement parks are just much more fun than theme parks because they usually have the better rides and that's what makes it more enjoyable to me. I do not take the time or pay admission to walk around for themed attractions, dining (I'll go to a restaurant), shopping (I'll go to the mall/online) or some other experience...I came to ride. Basically I am a thrill person. I cannot speak for everyone but yes, I do not like Epcot at all. Been there twice and I should have not gone the second time because I was just as bored as the first time but that's me. This may get the Disney fan boys fired up too but I think the same about Disney World or Disneyland. Very boring because I am just not 9 years old anymore, the theming is lost on me and the rides are dull (I have not tried the new Space Mountain though). I completely respect the job Disney does with theming, it's the best by far, truly 'magical' at times with standards and professionalism that no one else can touch for the experience but it just doesn't appeal to me. The reason I responded was I am also a little surprised to hear you were 'surprised' by people against theming even though this site it called THEME PARK REVIEW. Your POV's of coasters on YouTube brought me to this wonderful and fun site, I have yet to see a POV of some theming you were impressed with. I also don't see 'theme' counts on people's signatures, just coaster counts and total park counts. On your tours I see people get excited about ERT for rides (and they should!) but never any 'ERT' for theming. I have also never heard of a theme park whore, only credit whores which is celebrated by some on this site so are you really that surprised? It was VERY interesting to read so many comments that they liked theme parks better because of the escapism so thanks for the question Robb. I have never thought about this. I have never felt this way or even thought this way at all due to theming or any other reason when I go to the park so that was insightful for me. I just go to have fun and that to me is rides. But everyone one is different and those responses made me think about your point of view so thanks for sharing, I still don't get that feeling or agree though. Theming can be really nice and it DEFINITELY adds to the park and ride which can make it a more enjoyable experience like Busch Gardens but that is not what brings me into the park, rides do. I can ride a good ride all day long with no theming but I cannot look at or experience theming all day long with no rides. Give me the corporate whores of Cedar Fair and Six Flags, plus the asphalt parking lot with coasters and the queue/ride/queue/ride cycle and I am entertained. Guess I am simple. Good thing I do not design amusement parks, theme parks or theme park fan sites because mine would all fail miserably with this too narrow of scope philosophy to succeed so thankfully other people think differently. I will say one thing for theme parks over amusement parks, they almost always have have better food.
  22. Any day works for me a along as it is a park I am I interested in. I have no problem taking days off for the right event.
  23. Love them both because they are both elements of a good ride but since you want a preference I prefer floater air, sustained or sudden. Just like that feeling I guess, Diamond Back is a good example of floater air that I enjoy. But then again, who doesn't like the ejector air on top of Maverick's first hill? Having both kinds makes the ride more fun for me because floater air provides the 'fun' and ejector air or good turns provides the 'intensity' that I like in a good ride.
