  1. So if Cedar Fair has gyms and meeting spots at their parks can we assume that all the good Pokemon's will be at CP, CW, KI, KD, Knott's and Carowinds with MiA, VF and WOF getting next to nothing and stuck with the crappy ones?
  2. This is also the case of I305 at Kings Dominion. In both cases I feel that the problem is that most people are intimidated by the sheer awesomeness that lays before them. With I305 that is true. With Mean Streak they just recognize the sheer steaming pile that it is. #HopingMeanStreakRumorsAreTrue
  3. "So we totally just listened to #PopeFrancis speak in VaticanCity and we didn't instantly burst into flames! lol Religion achievement unlocked! This fills our "Jesus quota" for at least the next decade, right?" - Robb. Get your 'Jesus on' for a few minutes and then sin for the next decade? Sounds good to me. If religion was more like this I might actually get into it. Thanks for all of the pictures of the European parks, their landscaping makes their parks such a pleasure to look at.
  4. Visited the park Saturday and got in 6 rides to check out Monster. The park now has a very fun coaster to ride. Thrilling first drop where it feels like you are being thrown out of your seat followed by lots of twisty goodness. The Immelmann turn is my favorite element of the ride but they are all good. The smooth and easy transitions between the different turns and twists gives this coaster great pacing and a high 're-ride' ability factor. Every ride was just as fun as the other ones. Great addition to the park so hopefully it pays off for them and they add other new rides in the future. The operations were solid too. They ran all 3 cars and as soon as one hit the final brake run they had another one dispatching. It was busy because it was a Saturday and I waited the first time (about noon) for about 45 minutes. After that it was between 25-35 minutes and the lines were always moving so it did not seem that long. If you can make it to the park you will not be disappointed.
  5. Can't argue with that logic. I would rather wait 5 more years for a new coaster than get an SLC anytime in the next four years. On another note, I was just checking the city of Shakopee building permits to see any activity for VF and they opened a new one last week for a new 'maze' which I assume is for Haunt. Not a lot of details though except that they value the new maze at $35,000. Anybody who works at the park or closely with Haunt know where this will be located or what existing maze this will affect? You can check it out here: https://epermits2.logis.org/permits/permitdetails.aspx?city=sh&permitnbr=SH084429
  6. Either phrase works since they are both older than when the last coaster was added to the park. At least VF did get a new sign this year with Corkscrew so maybe there is hope for another one for next year. Don't know if that will fit into CF's budget though, that could cut into the budget for KI's new wood coaster and we wouldn't want that to happen.
  7. It wouldn't hurt considering it is the top coaster in the park for ridership every year. I still can't believe Northern Lights has no sign at all when Pipe Scream has one at CP. Oh wait, VF is the red headed step child of the CF chain and not worthy. I keep forgetting that.
  8. Much to everyone's delight, Mean Streak is currently streaking through it's 25th season of continued greatness and is open daily for your riding pleasure. Only a masochist would call riding Mean Streak a pleasure. Biggest piece of garbage at CP. Let's hope the rumors are true that it will be done operating soon so the park can get something worth riding.
  9. As long as you enter at the front gate you should be fine. We arrived at 8;45 am both days and were in the park by ERT time at 9. They have multiple people wanding up front. We went back to Maverick first both days and people who stayed on site at Breakers were complaining that they only had one person doing wanding back there and they did not get into the park until 9;45 am and they were at the back gate at 9:00 am so that was not good. I did not actually see what was going with the back entrance but only heard from other park goers. My guess is it was a reaction to the Orlando shootings and we went to the park on the Monday and Tuesday right after the shooting. My guess is they suffered some 'growing pains' with this and imagine that they will improve the back admissions as they move forward. But keep in mind I went in June and you are going in July when there will be more people so 8:30 am might be a good time to be at the front gate.
  10. I have done both. I drove last week (with 3 other people) and I have flown into Cleveland. Sandusky is only about 60-70 minutes from the Cleveland airport with 95% of it being one highway so it is an easy drive. It will take you about 3 1/2 hours to get from CP to KI. So if your only go to CP you will not be driving much at all. If you don't like driving then you should definitely fly because like VF15 said it takes about 11.5 to 12 hours to get to KI or CP from Minneapolis. I drove this time because I am tired of airport security lines and delays. Both ways have their advantages so go with what you prefer most. As long as you get there that is all that counts. My only suggestion is to get a Fast Lane Plus for CP, you will not regret it. You will get on many more rides (more fun) and have a more relaxing time. Valravn had a 90 minute wait and with Fast Pass we went on it 3 times in 25 minutes. For Maverick it was also a 75-90 minute wait and we never waited more than 15 minutes.
  11. Just got back from CP and KI last week and they are wanding there before entry too. When I visited KI last in 2010 they had the metal detectors but now they are wanding also. For CP it was causing slow admission from the hotels on site for ERT in the morning and people were not happy. The front of the park had no delays even though they were wanding there also.
  12. Definitely hit up Cossetta's for some pizza or pasta, a very solid Italian place just a few blocks from the mueseums so you can walk there. Patrick McGovern's is a block away also and is an Irish bar with good food too. If want some local Mexican about a mile away try La Cucharacha and get the enchiladas, their sauce is pretty good. Also in the same location is Dixie's that serves Louisianna and southern style food. None of these are chains so check out the locals for better flavor if you can.
  13. Painful but true. It is kind of shameful how CF treats these parks.
  14. With VF closed today for a private engagement I am just curious what group, business or organization reserves the park. Can anyone who works there tell me who rents the park during any of the two days that it is happening this year?
  15. Below is a link to the local newspaper StarTribune which has 32 pictures celebrating 40 years at Valleyfair. http://startribune.com/gallery-40-years-of-fun-at-valleyfair/379393841/
  16. I went yesterday and was also surprised how many people were there considering the waterpark was not open and with it being Mother's Day. Flying Eagles looked like a hit, the two times I walked by it and a also a Wild Thing pass over there was a decent line every time. Rode High Roller and was happy to experience that the ride was not affected at all by the re-tooling of the trains. I would still rather have the bench seating and buzz bars back but at least the overall ride experience was relatively the same with the new seats and retraints.
  17. Think about it? Unfortunately, I am still living it.
  18. Below is the link for the StarTribune story on the Shakopee exhibit celebrating 40 years of Valleyfair. I love the part where they write about when Wild Thing was added to the park attendance records where set followed by other years of attendance increases and remains the parks most popular ride. Who would of thought that adding a big roller coaster like that to a park would do that? http://www.startribune.com/scott-county-historical-society-exhibit-celebrates-40-years-of-valleyfair/377668201/
  19. I think most people with any common sense feel the same way. Until the decision is made on whether they can move the service road, VF/CF is not gong to make a major investment like a new coaster.
  20. That is one seriously fun ride, good advice.
  21. Buzz kill about losing the buzz bars. Hope the new PTC lap bars don't affect the ride but I am not hopeful. That is not a way to celebrate the 40th anniversary. Goodbye to the old Valleyfair! This doesn't look so bad now. Just some dummies enjoying the old VF logo on High Roller.
  22. ^ Nice! The work they did the last 2 years improved the ride so this should make it that much better. Good to see that still happening. Hopefully they do some work on High Roller too, that ride also improved from last year with the work they did in the off season.
  23. For me it would depend on how fun the ride is (or how much fun I think it would be if I have not been on the ride before). Duration of the ride would not affect my wait time. If it did I probably would never ride TTD. Thankfully most parks now have a fast pass option to take this out of the decision making equation if I want.
  24. Exactly. 16 degrees Fahrenheit is cold? What you really mean is 'free air conditioning' was provided.
  25. ^ It is VF related because it is new competition for their water park. I like it. Not that I will visit it much but hopefully it makes VF/CF re-evaluate their market competition in this market and step it up.
