  1. For sure. If it was an exciting turn around then the space would be justified. But since it is a 'ho-hum' experience it is taking up too much valuable real estate vs what the other Morgan Hypers would take and provide the same experience. In one of these forums someone wrote that Dorney Park was supposed to get Wild Thing and VF was going to get Steel Force but the neighborhoods adjacent to Dorney complained that it would create to much noise so they moved Wild Thing to VF because the track was already made. Then they figured out the 'noise issue' with the community in the off season and the following year they put Steel Force at Dorney. I don't know if there is any truth to this but interesting to think about if it had gone that way.
  2. ^ See, CF builds 2 coasters a year. Chill out kid. Not that this means VF will get one in the next 3 years.
  3. They sure could have used a few more mock up pictures from different angles or an animated clip of the ride in operation to get the point across. In today's marketing age you think who ever handled this would have looked at new ride announcements from other companies over the last few years and got a better idea on how to do this announcement. But it does look like a Revolution 20 though with some really good theming (so good you can't even recognize the ride at first ). And with NU's track record it should look great and fit in with the rest of the park just in time for the busy holiday shopping season.
  4. Not me, that means the operating season is coming to an end. But it is nice to see VF give Haunt some love because it just keeps getting more popular every year. It is good to see the park investing cash into new attractions. According to the building permits they spent $100,000 on the building, $5,700 on the electrical/heating and another $20,000 on the outside facade which can now be seen in the picture you posted. Not a bad little sum to spend on a Haunt building considering they have to spend even more to decorate it inside and out.
  5. You would think they would like to take advantage of the 60th anniversary (it only happens once ) and maybe create some excitement around it but unfortunately I don't think CF really cares. Same for VF next year with it's 40th anniversary. As of now it looks like neither of these parks are getting anything at all. Maybe they will surprise us but it doesn't look good right now based on what we know with only 35 days left for the summer operating season.
  6. There is no way you could put the Larson Flyers in the High Roller turn around. This is because there are support cables supporting the turn around that are all secured in the center on the ground as you can see in the picture below. The support cables in High Roller's turn around.
  7. ^ Exactly. And if they were crazy enough to do that then why even bother to do the 'RMC treatment' on Excalibur? Just demolish it and put in a brand new RMC coaster. Unfortunately this is VF and CP would never put their first RMC for the chain at VF.
  8. Unfortunately yes, it could stay. Until they figure out if they can (or cannot) move that service road that will determine which direction they will go. Obviously if it is moved and another parking lot is added that opens up all kinds of possibilities and avenues for expansion. If not, then they are back in the same box and have to look at removing or moving things around to add new attractions. If it happens the good news is something good would be coming after the move because you just don't do all that work of moving a road for nothing or just a small addition. I know I am dreaming but if the service road was moved one possibility may be that the park could run a another coaster track under the lift hill of Renegade where the service road currently runs. The area is big enough to drive a truck though and the supports are already in place for that so you would not have to touch Renegade at all because it is already part of the design. ^ On another note, I agree that the Revolution 20 rumored for NU looks fun. It would be nice to have another flat at VF of that caliber to go with the Extreme Swings.
  9. Correct. And with the proposal to create a new parking lot in the back of the park that would include removing Excalibur nobody can even make a good guess or prediction about what comes next until that project is approved or denied.
  10. Valleyfair GM Dave Frazier just tweeted out the picture below and with it was the text reading, "Brain trust for developing and building Valleyfair. Left to right; Dave Sherman, Walt Wittmer and Sam Kapplinger.". I know Dave and Walt were the developers (and original owners of VF until they sold to CP) with Walt also serving as a GM of the park. I don't know who Sam Kapplinger is though, does anyone else? Maybe he was the architect or foreman for building the original park, please share if you know. Probably just a nice picture to share of the original founders and developers of the park getting together. Or do you think it could be a hint of future development for the park? Maybe VF got their building permit approved and wanted their input about the park for some reason. Probably not but it is good to dream because it doesn't look like the park has any announcements coming for 2016 as of now. Brain trust that developed Valleyfair.
  11. Hey now! Valleyfair is the red headed step child of Cedar Fair, MiA is the abandon child left at the fire station. The two runts of the litter in the CF family.
  12. "We will end this update with some Japanese porn...because shouldn't all updates end up with a bit of Japanese porn???" Pure logic that just can't be argued with.
  13. About the rumor that Excalibur was being moved to MiA was the dumbest thing I have ever read in this thread (followed by the suggestion to RMC Excalibur. ) but since others had already commented on it and felt the same way there was no reason for me to repeat it and just pile on like you are suggesting. I never attacked you, I just pointed out that you made up number that even you admitted too. I never disagreed that NU made more profit than VF due to their environment and location, I just pointed out your 25 times or even 5 times more estimate is way too high. 2 times, maybe 3 times at best. If you think that is an attack instead of a disagreement you have way too thin of skin to be posting on the internet. Sorry that I disagreed with your made up estimates. Next time I disagree with you about one of your posts I won't respond so you don't feel 'attacked'. And anyone who uses 'My God' or 'Jesus H.' on a message board about theme parks might be the one who needs to chill.
  14. Valleyfair had 1,250,000 and some change for visitors in 2006 (that was the last time I saw CF publish attendance in their year end report. Now they just use pie chart graphs but they do group the park in the 1 to 1.5 million yearly attendance category still for 2014). So let's just use the average of that range at 1.25 million visitors (not unrealistic since they park hit 1 million in attendance after Wild Thing in 1996). Then you have Nickelodeon Universe which has a lower daily admission fee than VF, the option to just choose to ride 1 ride at a time at even a lower cost if you only want one or two rides, no unsupervised teenagers are allowed in the park after 6:00 pm plus all the food sales competition from the 4th floor at MOA which VF does not have and you 'estimate' they have 5x profit as VF? That means they would need at LEAST 5 times the people to get to your 5x profit margin estimate and that would be 6 million visitors. (So 5 x 1.25 million = 6 million). That would put the park ahead of Sea World Orlando (5,090,000 attendance in 2014) and make it the 10th largest park in the U.S.. The 20th biggest park in the U.S. for attendance in 2014 is Busch Gardens Virginia at 2.726 million. Funny, I don't see NU in any attendance listing anywhere even being in the top 50 parks in the U.S. for attendance. So at a 5x profit margin your still way over inflated on your estimate and you even admit to making that number up. Trying to prove points with made up numbers invalidate your point. And your the one calling for people on this thread to be 'more realistic'? http://www.mynews13.com/content/dam/news/static/cfnews13/documents/2015/6/Theme%20Index_2014_v1_1a.PDF
  15. Nice made up number with 25x. They definitely compete with each other for the 4-12 age demographic. If not, then VF would not have invested $11 in the 2011 Snoopy Remodel and spent that some where else in the park. Camp Snoopy was the second biggest investment in the park since Wild Thing.
  16. ^^ This is my feeling now after seeing Adventureland's announcement yesterday of a new 5 inversion Gerstlauer. It is getting old to see other parks all over the mid west and upper mid west get new attractions while VF does next to nothing. CF really needs to step up it's game with VF, no more excuses of being a 'small park' when I see other small and independent parks adding quality attractions and rides.
  17. And it's second closest competitor in Minneapolis (Valleyfair) too. CF is getting one upped by Adventureland for investment for 2 of it's parks over the last 3 years. Don't know whether to laugh or cry.
  18. Pretty simple, it is all about the dollars. Like they said in their announcement it was just too much money to maintain. And replacing it with a brand new steel coaster must make more financial sense long term than refurbing or replacing it so that must have been a lot of money the last few years to keep it running. Plus I think it is easier for parks now a days to make this decision if they have a water park area to compensate some for that loss. That being said it is still sad to see the old Flume rides go but I agree with you about the unique layout and that it will be a great addition to the park.
  19. Looks like this is going to be a nice (and needed) addition to the park. Too bad they are taking out the Log Flume but that seems to the trend once they hit 20 plus years old. Finally gives me a reason to go back to Adventureland which is great.
  20. Please don't go overboard trying to "enforce" the rules. While it can be annoying for a park guest who obeys the rules, it really isn't your business to do that. I just don't want you to go all "elementary hall monitor" and end up getting yourself in a situation with another park guest. It's best to just roll your eyes and ignore it and move on. You being upset at the guest for breaking the rules will only ruin your day. I do agree though, it is annoying when people break the rules (line cutters are my pet peeve at parks) The guy works at the park, if he doesn't report it to try and enforce the rules who will? And if it involves my safety on a ride then it IS my business and I will say or do something about it. If you want to "just roll your eyes and ignore it and move on" then go ahead, that is your call. But if it involves my safety on a ride then I have no problem getting in a situation with another park guest which is my call. Better that then the situation of their phone hitting me in the head on a ride. Calling out a guest not following the rules does not ruin my day but getting hit in the head by a phone would.
  21. This is true. But for those morons who do pull out a camera or cell phone on the ride and they are in the seat next to me or in the seat in front of me (like the same car on WT) I just tell them I am going to knock it our of their hand for safety reasons if they keep it out during the ride. The two times I was able to do this I got ugly looks but they knew I was right and put the phones away. I hate when it happens on a ride because then I spend the time during the ride watching to make sure those articles don't fly loose from their hands during the ride and hit me which takes away from the ride experience. I have been stopped on all of the coasters at VF for this at least one time except MM, CS and Excalibur. I just picked up SV this year which I thought would never happen like MM.
  22. It is down just as much as it is up and running so it would not surprise me to see it leave. I just hate to see flat rides being removed if they don't get replaced. SuperKat could go too, I just never see that ride more than half full even on a busy Saturday. Maybe it just needs a better location. On a different note I used to want to the see the Enterprise get restored but now that I have seen the NEW design for the Enterprise I want to see that at VF instead. Pictures below. Redesigned Enterprise cars. Another picture. And another picture. Another new twist.
  23. I live 15 minutes away from VF, 2 major highways get me there in that time with only 1 light in between. Have a Gold Pass (Platinum Pass if I am visiting any other CF parks that year). I visit about a dozen times a year, pretty much once every other week. Since I have been going to the park since it has opened there is not much new to see or do so I get my coaster fix with a flat ride or two in about 3-4 hours. If the park ever gets a new coaster then visits and lengths of stay will increase for sure.
  24. Because I'm amazing. lol And women dig you because you rarely wear underwear.
  25. Magnum is just a more thrilling ride all around vs. Wild Thing. It is not as smooth as WT but definitely more thrilling. A tighter, quicker turn around plus a mid course brake not jacked to the hilt actually allows good airtime on the bunny hills for the return trip to the station. I have never had the lap bar pain on the legs that some people talk about but I am 6' 1'' so maybe that has something to do with it.
