Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
SteveStL replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't read every post on the HW forum lately but I still think it will be like Verbolten. Lots of theming with a Show Bldg for the heavy Storms they keep talking about on 66days -

I saw that episode too. Has the Boss ever been on ICW? -

I went to Busch Gardens Tampa yesterday. Had a great time until the Storms arrived at about 5 pm. Anyhow... BG has no metal detectors at the entrance, just a quick bag check. This was also true for Disneyland last summer. Why does SFSTL need such a evasive 'search' with metal dectectors?? If neither BG or Disney feels they are not necessary, then Six Flags should reconsider there use. I believe King's Island doesn't use them either. -

Much of SFSTL acreage is on a hill which makes it hard to develop. Surprised that haven't sold some of it off honestly -

I find it funny that the Coaster Capital of Missouri doesn't even have a decent Kiddie coaster for the youngsters. I would have rather seen a custom Kid Coaster instead of Boomerang. I agree with your Family Park comments but where are the Family rides - Bumper Cars, Traditional Swings, etc. I can't imagine anyone riding the Moon Cars feeling satisfied when they step off the ride - Was that it!? -

Dungeon Drop and what else??? A few Kiddie rides, then something from that other Texas Park -

Great analysis... I wasn't thinking about the clues in that regard, but it sure makes a lot of sense now. Very cool stuff indeed. -

I agree with you but we did get Batman, Freeze and HH in the 90's. ...The Boss was a disappointment when everyone else was getting Hypers and other monster coasters. Then we got all of Astrowold's used rides. -

I have said it before and I will say it again ... if you build it, they will come. People have argued with me, but those arguments have not swayed my opinion. Those folks say SFSTL must earn the attendance first - nah, no way. The park is 42 years old, there is nothing else to earn. It needs some major capital investment and quick. The park is well into its lifespan, its senior years. It needs a re-birth, otherwise it will stay stagnant and eventually close or go under different mgmt. -

That's ashame. The park needs a facelift in a bad way. There is no excitement or buzz. -

if it was a choice between a shortened an Iron Horse layout or just the Topper, i would take the Topper... provided they could but a Barrel roll or two where the Bunny hills are. It is a good layout as is (besides the much too soon MCBR). -

Iron Horse for the Boss and replace Ninja with a Modern Looper, then SFSTL would be up to par with other parks. -

I just have one question regarding the quote above, does Tony Hawk acutely owns the rights to the name "Big Spin"? Yes, now you owe him 2 dollars -

Have you all seen SF Mexico's RMC Medusa POV?? The ride looks outta control and awesome fun. If the Boss could ever turn into that, then Yes! I would come back and visit our park again. -

I am fairly certain Atlanta's Hyper, when originally slated for us, was to go over the Parking Lot Booths and into the grassy park area between the Entrance Lanes and the Parking Lot itself. That would have been very very cool. -

I like the Boss' layout, only gripe is the Mid-course Brakes happen too soon. The ride on the other hand has always been a letdown, even from when it first opened. The 1st and 3rd drops are fun, the rest of the ride is a painful train wreck. -

Yeah, it seems apparent they just installed it without much consideration to the existing theming of that area. -

With the news SFMM getting the next Iron Horse treatment (Colossus), I would not get your hopes up about the Boss getting IR anytime soon. They will continue to throw money at this park to keep a pulse but I can't see SF Corp ever going out of its way to give us any special treatment. If we get lucky maybe we will get a Used B&M down the road. -

My guess is this attraction will be a combo of both coaster and water elements. With the 'journey across the ocean' theme you cannot argue there will not be a boat on the water somewhere during the course of this ride.
