  1. Do any of you STL Locals have any detail on this new Coaster at Union Station?
  2. If you Build it, they will come. (Think 1976 and the Screamin Eagle) Heck, let's watch and see how Holiday World does in 2015. I guarantee they are going to have a huge attendance increase, and they are in the middle of Nowhere.
  3. If I remember correctly I explained why Boss can't be done on the SFSTL thread but I will explain again. In order for Iron Boss to work it would require the removal of the first half of the ride (from the bottom of the double down to the bottom of the drop out of C-block) because as it sits as a wooden coaster the trains have a hard time making it to C-block and polyurethane wheels on steel track creates more friction meaning Iron Boss wouldn't make it. So then the ride would go straight from the double down to the second turn around (another valley point that would be reprofiled) from there it's a literal uphill battle for the train as it does the bunny hops by the station (the first hill happens to be another valley point) then there is the double up out of the helix (yet another valley point). After removing the valley points you would be left with the worst RMC coaster built. So the park is looking for other options for the ride since a conversion isn't cost effective or worth the money. Would it be possible to just replace the current wooden track with the I-Box Steel Track and new Trains? Keep the layout as is - forgot all the crazy Iron Horse inversions - just a replacement. ??
  4. I was really excited when SFSTL announced we were getting a CCI. The layout looked awesome! I was in awe when I first saw it in person in 2000. I had such high expectations. Then I rode it... bummer. Even the year it opened that thing beat the living hell out of me, such a disappointment.
  5. Rumors are pointing to it being sent to either SFFT or SFGAd next. Anything's possible, though. It would be cool if they did it backwards during Fright Fest so you could ride it in the fog and in the dark. Last time I talked to Dave about namtaB he said that it most likely won't becoming to SFSTL. However things can change, all I can say is wait and see. I don't see why, they did it with Freeze. Not that I am excited about the notion of namtaB but just flip the train around - big whoop. Seems SFSTL translates into 'No, that ain't gonna happen'. I am intrigued by the new dark ride, but in my opinion, it is not what the park needs (Scooby was doing just fine popularitywise). Holiday World will outshine SFSTL in 2015 for sure with Thunderbird. Lose the Ninja and get a modern Steel coaster!
  6. Anyone know SFSTL's attendance for 2014?
  7. Cool relocation of the Sparkler and better theming and name as well! Poor thing will be dwarfed in size by both the Voyage and TBird though
  8. I don't see SFSTL ever expanding over there anyway... sell it.
  9. I was just inquiring the reasons why... what's the harm in that??
  10. Then I guess new Trains and Topper Track would be the best option, which is what Screamscape is saying in there latest submission.
  11. Question: when they say RMC treatment will shorten the Boss' layout, is that due to a limited Funds or the Terrain or Footprint (or both) on which the coaster is built?
  12. Are you sure??? Did you forget about Boomerang???
  13. Yeah, back in the day they would have probably re-fashioned the old Boats with wheels to save money.
  14. SFSTL is 285 acres but the park owns ~503 acres. SFGAm is 305 acres but they own ~330 acres. So the park really isn't much bigger than SFSTL. I was surprised to....so SFSTL has much potential for expansion but don't know if they'll ever use all that land. Hmm... I am surprised. The Footprint of SFGAm seems a lot larger than ours - looking at aerial shots, etc.
  15. The Boss is more of a Death Trap than the Ninja, but you are correct... it is boring and needs to be scrapped. It has been here since '86 - '87. Its shelf-life expired years and years ago
  16. SFSTL is about half the size of SFGAm though
  17. Anything that can bring more people to the Downtown area in a plus. Nothing much to do downtown rather than sporting events and the occasional concert.
  18. Thanks for all your input. They were installed after 9-11... and I get that, everyone was on edge back then. Well anyway, if it was my decision I would yank those things out and throw 'em in the trash. They are unwelcoming, uninviting, and ugly. Not to mention the hassle of another line to fight thru and someone going through your personal stuff. Not the best way to start a day of fun at a Park.
  19. I know King's Island doesn't have Metal Detectors. I haven't been to Cedar Pnt since the 90's. Do they have them now?? how about WOF? Anyway - how does Cedar Fair handle that part of security?? Is there an alternative way to check for Metal besides the dreaded doorways SFSTL has?
  20. Are those Metal Detectors even necessary??? If Disney/Busch Gardens doesn't need em, then surely our little park doesn't need them either. They are not inviting and just ugly up the place
  21. A complete redesign makeover of the front entrance would be nice. I haven't been to our park in 3 or 4 years but I probably can assume it hasn't changed. The security booths look tacky and temporary and everything else is rundown. The fountain which used to be the centerpiece is now off to the side and mostly ignored I'm betting. Functionally and aesthetically it could use a redesign for sure.
  22. I agree it is ridiculous, but I still think it is just a simple as a coaster count. Plus for some reason I can't see them modifying The Boss (raising the lift another 20 feet, new trains). While I think that plan is a good idea per reasons stated, I just can't see that happening. With the RMC conversion out of the picture it is more likely it will operate in its original state indefinately.
  23. There's no crown to steal because Six Flags just made it up and it could mean anything... It just a simple coaster count... we got 9
  24. Me, personally, would rather see New Steel at our park rather than a Dark Ride. I know Justice League will be better than your average SF Dark Ride, but new steel at our park is sorely needed. It doesn't make sense, SFSTL was to maintain is Coaster Capital status but their future strategy doesn't seem to coincide with that. WOF can easily take that crown within 5 short years.
