  1. With the chain issue that Ninja has now, they wouldn't be fixing it if they were just going to replace now. I think the repair work by itself shows it isn't going anywhere for a few years.. not that I ever believed it would.
  2. I was at sfog Friday night for a 5k and they had dummies sitting in sjyscreamer so looks like testing is progressing.
  3. Easter weekend normally has low crowds. I think gasm still rides well for its age.
  4. After seeing the outlaw run POV, I'd love to see SFoG do a large project with RMC - either something totally new or something like the RMC treatment to scream machine. You know, that sounds exciting and all, but I would not like to see them change the Scream Machine like that. It would be smooth, fast and an all round better ride experience, but the thing is is that it's been around for so long. It's different from other woodies that have been around for 10 years or so and now need the Rocky Mountain Treatment to make it a hit again. The Sream Machine is part of the park's early history; it was one of the first attractions to be built outside of the railroad. It's one of those coasters built during the age when new innovations in ride design were coming up all over the place. It was the highlight of the coaster world when it first opened, being the tallest and fastest. (Probably didn't last for long) It's kind of like putting all steel horses on the Rigerview Carousel. Sure the new horses could be more comfortable and would certainly last longer, but the carousel is part of history, unlike modern day carousels that can be changed to go faster, ect. That's all right because those aren't significant in history. Now sure, steel horses are probably not going to outfitted on any carousel, I was just trying to get m point across. Definitely a good point. A new RMC coaster would be better anyway.

  6. Let us know how the crowds are; I hear its usually horrendous on opening weekend. Especially with the nice weather we've been having lately. It's going to be 70 again this weekend. Will do. SFOG tends to attract a LOT of school/church groups that come in by the bus load early in the season. Everybody and their mom will probably be there Saturday. Hopefully Sunday won't be AS bad. I think I saw there is some cheerleading thing going on for the 16th as well so there is a huge group right there.
  7. As for the park opening early, I haven't heard anything, ever, of the park opening early to better control the crowds. If you heard somewhere else, I would actually be interested in seeing that source because that's something I might want to do sometime. Or I would at least want to know to get there 30 minutes early. if you have the gold season pass, one of the perks listed for this year is early access to the park. i contacted them to find out what that means and they said they woudl allow gold pass holders in 10 minutes before general opening. So if somebody was talking about letting people in early that MIGHT me what they were talking about but it isn't to control crowds, but just a perk for the higher level season pass. Have they done anything like this in the past-I've never heard I then doing anything like this. It is a new perk this year. In fact, I think the gold pass itself is new this year. From the national site. The VIP entry is the early entry provision. Introducing the Gold Pass Most Six Flags parks have just launched the new GOLD PASS which includes FREE free parking with every pass, good at all Six Flags Theme Parks. You'll also get VIP entry into the park and an extra Bring-A-Friend Free ticket. Does anyone know if this is going on at any other Six Flags parks too? it is just about all of them, if not all of them. I got the gold pass for the free parking (which can add up over a season) but the 10 minutes early entry is a petty nice additional perk. I will definitely take advantage of that next Saturday.

  10. There is a website that collects stories of sucky customers from people and based on that side, I can conclude stupid behavior isn't limited to just parks.
  11. Any question that starts with "well, I know you don't allow this, but...." is pretty much always going to be a problem.
  12. I saw the same thing when I was looking at the stone Mountain website not too long ago. Not sure why that is, but I find it interesting both places are doing the same thing. I don't have any kids, but I wonder if one or more school systems around the area changed which week they did spring break so they want to cover both weeks now.
  13. Pretty normal. Weekends only from March thru may (except for spring break week when they open for the week) and then open during the week all summer and back to weekends around fright fest time in october. Pretty much if school is in session they are only open on weekends. When school is out, they are open during the week.
  14. No problem. Anytime. The one thing I would add is that if you are going to come for two days, you should look at a season pass. Normal admission is $50, but you can get a season pass for around $65 or a gold season pass at around $90 and both would save you money if you are coming for 2 days and then if you want to come back again during the season you're already covered. Just plan to get there early if you want to do that because the lines will probably be long for the season ticket place on opening day. Something to think about.
  15. That would work well. Maybe in some kind of Star Wars ride.
  16. Normally opening day crowds are not too bad, but a lot really depends on the weather. The better the weather the more people who will come out. Now if you are doing something like getting a season pass, it is going to take a while because a lot of people will be doing that during the first weekend (I did my season pass during Fright Fest last year so I'm covered). Unfortunatly, SFoG has not released their 2013 schedule yet (have no idea what is taking them so long). Normally the first weekend they are open Saturday and Sunday then will shut down until next weekend (they will though likely be open the whole week of spring break in early April) If it matches last year, they will open 10-8 on Saturday and 10:30-7 on Sunday. Obviously subject to change The water rides will probably not be open at that time and the new skyscreamer may not be ready on opening day (the last email they sent mentioned early summer). Outside of that, the rest should be running. Obviously if Skyscreamer is ready to open on opening day that will affect crowds. Unless something comes up, I plan to head out for opening day.
  17. Her parents must be so proud. I don't have a problem with that style of music, but you don't go on a show like American Idol and think you are going to get people to listen to it. That just struck me as an idiot teenager thinking she was being cool. and just wanting to get on TV. She knew she wasn't goign to make the show, but got her minute on national TV which is probably all she really wanted
  18. SFoG normally does that. If you look at the schedule for last year they opened for weekends on March 17th, but then were open the whole first week in April, and then went back to weekends until late May.
  19. They have posted that March 16th will be opening day but as was mentioned will be weekends only at that point. They have not released the full schedule yet, but normally whenever spring break is they will be open all week then go back to weekends only until closer to summer.
  20. Interesting. Is the manager of sfdk supposed to be a good president? Since this is my home park I hope the new president is a good one.
