My opinion is they will open close to that date. SFoG is the biggest theme park in the state so no way he made this decision without talking to them. They may push it to monday to say they are going above and beyond but by June 15th SFoG will be open. Hurricane harbor and white water I'm not so sure. Lazy River and Wave Pools are crowded normally....

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread

The key with all these things is that they are ESTIMATES. There are a ton of variables. The target dates for anything are all moving at this point. We could be lucky and at least have it manageable by the end of April when the CDC guidelines end, or it could still be bad. We just don't know at this point. Yeah the numbers they are presenting in Trump's briefing are assuming stay at home until end of May and even those numbers are not "good". Easing restrictions end of April just isn't likely. All the numbers being presented are models based on variables that they input. Since we know so little about the virus, its antibodies, who actually has it or already had it...I'd say things are very much subject to change for better or for worse. I'm not an expert, so I won't even try to make sense of any of the data. I think the only thing safe to assume is that parks will continue to follow CDC guidelines. We will see if they revise again... Very true and even the people making the models are updating the models every day based on actual data on the ground. Like we hear in time travel movies "the future isn't written yet" the same is true here. We still have a chance to make worse or better the numbers in the model. Most models you'll see a confidence internal. Yes they have their predictions but also have upper and lower bounds on what could be. We have a chance still to push it to the lower side if people do what the CDC suggests we do. The interval on lower and upper limits of deaths is still very large since there is a lot we don't know which is why we need to do what we can to keep that number down. Estimates are estimates and not fact...yet. The model site here updates how and why their estimates change day to day. http://www.healthdata.org/covid/updates. They are upfront when and where things change and why.

True. However, if parks are not able to open/re-open till late May/Early-mid June... Will they have time to get staff hired (if they haven’t already hired) get the staff trained, get the rides past state inspection, and actually get the park up and running in enough time to make opening “worth” (for lack of better term) it? I’m mainly thinking of mostly heavily summer seasonal parks IE: Cedar Point. LEgoland wasn't planning to open until July 4th and from what I've heard they were going to need all that time for construction. This has likely made it where July 4th is likely impossible and I guess they figured especially in NY if they can't open until August/Sep probably best to push it a year.

and a few years down the line but if OP plans to go to college, then the Disney College Program would be worth looking into. -
I'm right there with you. My wife and I were trying to come up with a plan B from flying and had decided to just drive to avoid planes but like you I fully expect them to announce an extension to the closures. I have no idea when we would be able to reschedule. My kid has so many activities through the summer and then with school we probably wouldn't be able to do a weeklong trip until next spring break. I wonder what their policies will be as to how long you have to re-book and whether or not they will offer refunds? Has anyone here been affected by the current closure that could shed some light on their policies? As of right now they are waiving all cancellation fees for trips booked through end of june. That is the only reason I'm paying the rest of my package today (I'm at the 30 day mark) since I know I can cancel if need be. For people who have tickets during the closure they are automatically extending the tickets through 12/15 and if you cannot go by then then you can convert them to credit for future tickets. So i think they are taking very sensible plans to help people especially with waiving the normal $200 cancellation fee and with everything in MDE some of this they can just do automatically. I know somebody who is there now and when they looked in the app yesterday their tickets for the last 2 days are just automatically good through 12/15 now with no need to do anything.

As one of the first to announce closing I expect other theme park companies will look at disney to see what they do next. Now it appears disney is trying to do this in an ordered plan to avoid overwhelming call centers, airport, etc. by not anouncing the closing of resorts and springs until right around the time the parks actually closed. Finish park closing then announce resorts/springs. I don't think anybody at this point expects they will be open April 1. The question is when will they be announced. Based on what they did thiis weekend, but speculation is once the resorts are fully closed then they'll announce an extension to the closures. So probably friday night or Satuurday Ii bet is when we hear disney is extending their closure and that my trip in mid-April is officially cancelled.
