  1. I believe it's Wildfire's overflow queue, although I'm not sure how long it's been since it's been used, if it ever has.
  2. Themeing hasn't been a priority for Six Flags in at least 20 years. And why should it be. This isn't Disney/Universal, where storytelling and immersion are part of the experience. People come to Six Flags for the thrill rides alone, and Supergirl is a great addition to the park. The ride's entrance and queue are far nicer than what I ever expected for a relatively small addition. It also is a great way to re-energize the corner of the park that hasn't been touched in 19 years.
  3. I think those are supposed to be crystals like the Fortress of Solitude. Thanks for the correction, I'm not too hip on all the Supergirl mythology
  4. I didn't get any pics, and I don't see any posted online, but Supergirl's area is pretty much completed. The queue is shaded and has some minor themeing in it- it's similar to Superman's queue with some stories about Supergirl posted on large billboards. The billboards have fake blue kryptonite (?) around them. The side of Primo's Pizza was repainted with a light blue shade to match the ride. There's also a huge cutout of Supergirl above the ride's entrance. All in all, for a relatively minor addition I think the park did a great job making the ride fit into the area as much as possible. The ride was testing this weekend and it looks like a ton of fun. I think it'll be a popular addition to the park, especially as a replacement for Highland Fling.
  5. I'm hoping that since this is a Monday, in early June, that most kiddos are still in school, so won't be bad Most St. Louis schools are out for the summer before Memorial Day, actually. Crowds still shouldn't be too awful, but I'd try and get there as early as possible.
  6. I've stopped trying to review MCU films the same as I do with other films. As an individual film, Endgame is very messy, but as the end of an 11-year film series, it's hard to deny the good job it does tying up character arcs. It also manages to make 3 hours fly by, and the final action scene delivers.
  7. As of now I'm fairly certain this is a genuine refurbishment of Tidal Wave, not a removal, but plans are constantly changing. I'm glad to see Justice League receiving some love. The section of the exterior that's completed looks a lot better.
  8. The Body Wars simulators were recently scrapped for replacement parts for Star Tours. From the looks of it this pavilion will be centered around shows and meet and greets as opposed to actual attractions.
  9. Xcalibur will be open this season. Superman is also being refurbished, so hopefully it will be in better shape this season than it has been in past years.
  10. A few park updates: Supergirl's paint scheme looks fantastic in person, and I think that area of Britannia is going to look great when it's finished. Mobile food ordering will be coming to the park sometime this season at a few restaurants. Season passes will no longer have biometrics linked with them, the whole chain will be moving back to a photo-based system. Mardi Gras fest will not be returning this season.
  11. Screamin' Eagle will never be RMC'd for a long list of reasons -It's the park's only "classic" coaster- it's untouchable in my opinion -It is one of the few rides that has a 42" height requirement -The entrance isn't ADA accessible at the moment, and to market it as a new ride they'd need to completely rebuild the station -Corporate isn't about to spend that much money on a SFSTL coaster
  12. I thought the art style of the film was fantastic. I would love to see lots of animated comic book films in the same style. The plot was fun but nothing revolutionary. By far the best part of the film is Miles' first time flying through NYC, and I wish we would have gotten more scenes as awe-inspiring as that. The final battle is a bit of a let down- I'm sorta tired of all these super hero movies having final battles where you can't even tell what is really going on. This time they're in a gigantic chamber of sorts that all of a sudden has skyscrapers soaring through it?
  13. What do you mean by "those types of people"? Please elaborate. I want to hear your answer to that. *crickets* And to reply to the others in this thread: It was implied by multiple people that low season pass prices allow for criminals to enter the park. This sentiment is brought up time and time again in this thread and I frankly was getting tired of it. My apologies if I seemed too aggressive in my response.
  14. From the SFSTL thread: I guess theme parks should require background checks to enter and poor people being able to buy season passes? Not in my middle-class theme park!
  15. And that's why you don't price season passes that low. Those types of people don't deserve to be in a place that's supposed to be safe for everyone. You shouldn't even be able to buy a season pass let alone be allowed to enter the park if you have a criminal record. This argument really annoys me every time it comes up on here. Poor people aren't criminals. Making season passes more expensive doesn't magically keep criminals from visiting the park. I'm sure there are plenty of drug dealers making more money than people with white collar jobs. Also why should a criminal record keep somebody from going to an amusement park once they're released? We already have metal detectors and bag checks, do we need to add background checks as well? Edit to add: I understand that Six Flags is known for having far more teens on the loose or whatever compared to other parks. I think that has less to do with the price and more to do with the nature of the park. A park with thrill rides is gonna attract more obnoxious teenagers than Disneyland would.
  16. Good riddance. When we visited the Dells in '16 that was by far the roughest coaster I had ever been on.
  17. I enjoyed a lot about Bohemian Rhapsody, but I wish it would have stuck more to the truth of Queen's story. The main points of conflict in the film were extremely fictionalized. Freddie wasn't the first member of Queen to go solo, and they never actually broke up. He also wasn't diagnosed until years after the Live Aid performance. The record executive played by Mike Myers wasn't a real person. I understand that no biographical film is going to be 100% true, but these events are made out to be HUGE parts of Queen's journey, despite never actually happening. I did enjoy a lot of the film though. Remi Malek really is incredible as Freddie, especially in later scenes. The press conference scene was effectively suffocating. A small detail that stuck out to me was the silhouette from the Bohemian Rhapsody music video appearing in the glass of the recording studio. The Live Aid performance was also a great finale to the film.
  18. But then enthusiasts would complain that they got a B&M hyper instead of an Intamin hyper like Hyperion. It's a vicious cycle that never ends. Maybe at other parks, but trust me, us St. Louisians on here would stop complaining for years if we got a B&M hyper. I think we'd take a Vekoma hyper at this point
  19. Guess I must really be out of the loop because this announcement seemed to come out of nowhere Kinda surprised Lost River is getting spruced up/replaced before FITH and Flooded Mine. Although Infinity Falls looks amazing, and I am not even a big fan of rapids rides.
  20. A Star is Born is my favorite film of the year so far. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are excellent, well deserving of any awards that come their way. The music is great as well. First Man was sort of disappointing. The scenes in space are breath taking, but the rest of the movie is very slow. Armstrong was a very reserved man, which unfortunately doesn't result in an entertaining movie character.
  21. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Colossus is back up and running.
  22. Other than Lightning Run, I hated everything about Kentucky Kingdom when I visited back in 2014. Despite that, I've been wanting to get back out to ride Storm Chaser and see how the park has improved. Kentucky Flyer looks like another nice coaster addition, and I'm definitely gonna try to make it back to KK next season.
  23. I'm sort of confused as to why they didn't just convert one of the already existing bars, especially since the space this one is in won't be available next Fright Fest.
  24. https://static.sixflags.com/website/files/sfsl_ff-guide.pdf The map for Fright Fest has been posted. From the description of Blood Bank: "our vampires will serve you an adult beverage Blood Bank style." Looks like Highland Fling's queue will be used as the bar area for this. I wonder where they'll move it next season if this proves to be a popular area? I thought "Project Chromo" would just be a rename for Zombieville since it's going into the same spot, but it appears that Zombieville will be relocated to the Spinsanity area. Nice of the park to add a scare zone instead of just replacing one.
