  1. ^ A good example also in southern CA is Apocalypse at Magic Mountain. That ride is intense but also still pretty smooth.
  2. ^ Yah there really is so much potential with this ride. This could really become the top attraction at Knott's.
  3. ^ Plus if you only theme one small part of the ride it keep's the cost down which is probably why there aren't many themed rides in any SF or CF park.
  4. Well what GR really needs is better trains, a re-tracking job, and maybe some theming elements on that first turnaround to add some story to the ride. Like maybe enclose the turn around out of the station and make it look like a mine that's about to blow up and then your only way out is this crazy mine track that has never been used. It would be pretty cool.
  5. ^ Yes because if it rides anywhere near as good as it did as when it first opened it would be a true gem and one that everyone would enjoy, not just some who can bare the roughness.
  6. ^ Agreed. I never complain as much as my friends about the roughness and truly think that it adds some atmosphere to the ride. It makes me think that i'm actually in a mine car and about to hurtle to my death.
  7. I'l have to try her chicken some time. Just never got around to doing it.
  8. ^ Well it sure would be a lot better than Kong.
  9. ^ Yah I had one those things were really good. Oh and Xcelerator is great.
  10. I really wonder sometimes why some woodies are still smooth after years of use while others aren't. Is it really the parks fault? I see them do maintenance quite often.
  11. Whenever I go to the park GR always has the longest ride in the park. Also it is an icon for the park when you are walking around as you can see its wooden structure from just about anywhere. Totally a staple for the park and if it wasn't they wouldn't be considering a rehab, they would just tear it down.
  12. Does it really get neglected? I have seen the coaster down for maintenance plenty of times. I just wonder if the trains just eat up the track faster than Knott's can repair it.
  13. Last coaster was Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm in the back row so that I could get some good airtime on the top hat.
  14. The direction this thread has taken is just wRONg.
  15. ^ Plus if it was re-tracked and given some better trains they could turn down that awful MCBR that hurts the second half of the ride from what it used to be.
  16. I personally love Ghostrider but know without a doubt in my mind I would like it better if it was as smooth as it was when it opened.
  17. That's crazy as I was there the day before, which train was it? I think it's the bronze colored train.
  18. Yah I wonder how it didn't gather enough speed off the lift hill drop. That's really weird. Maybe the coaster is creating so much friction from having such beat up track that it slowed the train down enough not to make it over the first hill.
  19. Monty is a good ride. Wish the spikes were vertical
  20. ^^ Yah what your saying makes sense. Plus there are other coasters that would be more beneficial (ahem...boomerang) for the park to think about replacing. Totally would love an El loco 8 seater in it's place called something like the "Boardwalk Basher"
  21. The problem with Montezuma's is that the area it occupies is so small the only thing that could really replace it would be an impulse coaster. Or something like superman at SFDK.
  22. Well I know they don't build them anymore or at least haven't been asked too. I was thinking more along the lines of a relocation.
  23. Do you think Knott's would take out Monty and put in an Intamin Impulse coaster as a replacement? Just wondering cause im sure eventually Monty will become expensive to maintain and will be worth replacing.
