Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

This year's big addition. The local contracting company who constructed it got free single day admission tickets, so that should increase attendance by 7. On another note, we only made it 24 days into the month before a new post! That's only 2 days behind April! -

"They did respond to these calls and noone was arrested." Thank God. I'm glad the other paying customers were able to cooperate and cut their nights short to make sure the troublemakers causing a dangerous volatile environment left. We need to all step up and cater to the violence. -

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I'm sure you're not the only one in this situation, which is a part of the big problem. Maybe you can get a full refund in time and change all of your plans, period. I hope everything turns out the best. Keep us posted. I remember in 2019 I was upset, because we'd booked our first trip to Hershey. We're skip-the-line people and when they finally introduced their fast pass unlimited system, I knew for sure it was going to be on the list that summer. We never had the option to order it, but a week later it was pulled from their site and customer service said they weren't going to offer it. I was mad, because we'd already booked, based on the pass system. That's a fraction of what you're going through, so I can't imagine the sick feeling you must have. I can't think of any other Cedar Fair park worth visiting outside of Kings Island, this year. That park is really turning out to be a shining star in the chain. I loved KI before it was cool to love KI, so that makes me cool, right?........ (I'm not cool.) -

The feeling rough the day after isn't a fitness thing. We love being active. It has to do with what I eat and drink. The midday power naps just help me stay refreshed before the unhealthiness begins. It's unfortunate, but you took a gamble when you booked the trip. Any plans in 2021 are still gambles. As for the lack of communication, there are probably no plans at this point. Maybe they're waiting for an answer before they reply. I bet they're inundated. -
^I definitely don't have to pretend to like wooden coasters. It's the charm for some of them. The more notable wooden roller coasters I can remember being exceptionally enjoyable, despite characteristically a little shaky, are Screamin' Eagle, Comet (Hershey), Mine Buster, The Beast, and almost any GCI. I agree though, we don't like them too jarring. Outside of GCI, we almost always have the best experiences in the middle of the train on a non wheel seat. Ffk Holiday World, though. RMC track it all. Maybe a combination of that and the price of steel currently being very high. Did we just become best friends? I'd much rather see this than Ibox, but it would be less marketable. Do the reTrack and bring back the Helix. Heh. The family clone kind of looks like an iron horse American Thunder.

Wait. What? I have friends who are talking about big travel plans, including trips overseas. This still isn't the year. It's going to take a long time for the workforce to recover, and operations to get back to normal. Many travel and recreational experiences are going to be filtered in one way or another, and amusement parks are absolutely no exception given the size of their operations. Things may get closer to being back to normal as the season goes on, but I wouldn't expect things to be back to how they were in 2019, until maybe next year. Hopefully I misinterpreted your post, but it's unreasonable to think otherwise. Cedar Point always has staffing difficulties, but if you were to ever cut them some slack, now would be the time. -

I'm only 35 years young. I'm already battling with mid-day park fatigue, and I have to account for a full day of recovery after drinking a few beers and eating shit food. -

Amen to that, brother. That's one of the things that sells me on Breakers. Usually if a hotel isn't as convenient as Breakers for any park, and if it's impractical to go back to the hotel, I'm always good for a cooler lunch, followed by a 30 minute car nap. It's almost a necessity, anymore. I may sleep like total shit at night, but even 20-30 minutes of closing my eyes, falling asleep or not, does me wonders. I'm a power-napper for sure. -

The VIP tour is great, but I wouldn't want to walk around with a tour guide, especially in the evening when I want to drink some beers. -

^That's on par with CP on a summer weekend, but I still wish CP charged more. KI is worth visiting. It might be my favorite park, factoring in drive time from my home. But, their Fastlane Plus is a big part of that reason. As previously posted, you can get on rides very quickly using it. A 2-3 train wait on a summer Saturday is typical for us. -

I'm still wishing CF would increase the Fastlane Plus prices to cut down on the number sold, while breaking even on the profits. I'd gladly pay $200 per day at Cedar Point, if it meant a substantial reduction on wait time. I'd be upset if I paid for Fastlane Plus and had the kind of wait times people reported on opening day. I wasn't thrilled in 2016 when we waited 45 minutes for Top Thrill Dragster. As for medical emergencies related to low blood sugar, it would probably be a good idea to something available in your vehicle. -

We always hit the first week of 10am-10pm operations, armed with FL+. But, so much for that this year. We never had to wait more than 15 minutes for anything. Really slow days would mean walk-on rides. -

Robb's "theme park idiot" speech is needed here. I have no idea why anyone would think going on opening day after the pandemic, or even opening day in general, would guarantee anything close to a positive experience. -

Right. But, any time you build interest that's a not a good thing, regardless of how low payments are.
