Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)
rcjp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In terms of intensity, it might not be that same as Skyrush or storm runner but I assume (as I haven't been on it) that it's more forceful than Fahrenheit, which is really fun, just not very intense. But if you take into account things like length, then it might also beat storm runner (even though that's an awesome ride). -

This is for sure a very impressive list. Only now did I realise the full dimension of the thing! Hope they all get built for good. -

It's as steep as skyrush (85), as neil009 has just pointed out. -

^Those look great! I like the twistyness and funkiness of the track -

^I haven't been on I305 but I assume that if the drop is as steep as skyrush's and a lot taller it can't be as intense. (which means it can still be awesome) Yeah that part is awesome, and rather unexpected. -

^The only two coasters I've ridden that opened in the year I was born (1996) were terrible: Wildcat at Hershey and Mantis. Well, at last there's Montu but I haven't been on that one. -

^Oh, ok. Sorry. I thought that he was asking why having lap bars would make the train wider. Yeah, I guess you could just get rid of the vests (it would be better than having them) but I assumed that a more "normal" lap bar design would require that change. -

Pretty cool If whenever someone mentions a year you immediately think of a coaster than opened then. For example: 1993 - Kumba! -

^Not because of that but because that bars that hold the actual restraint would have to be moved to the side (requiring more space between the seats). The bars on B&M's restraints are too "in front of you" for a lap bar only. Just look at heir position in relation to the riders' arms and shoulders and compare it to lap bars (which are held from above) You would have to move them to the side a bit in order to get something more like this: or this: and that does make it wider. (at least that's what it looks like) -

Granted. 10 000 $ for the flight. I wish a speed or height record coaster was, for once, here in Europe. -

^I think the thing was that iron rattler (which opened just a bit later than outlaw) still used the gerstlauer ones but I'm sure that they were already planning to build their own trains for the hybrids too. -

Now that would be something. However I think they would probably have to make the cars even wider as the bars holding the lap bar itself would have to come from the side (like Mack's, for instance) which takes up a bit more space to the sides than these. Isn't the family coaster they're building supposed to have them? If so, we'll just wait and see. -

Very true. When I went to portaventura with my friends last month they said they wanted to ride a "weaker" ride first to get them used to it, to which I answered: "NO WAY!!" (as we got to the park as soon as it opened and I wanted to make the most of the small queues). However they insisted and so I took them to furius baco as it doesn't look very intimidating from the lake area
