I personally really enjoyed Mach Tower. The day I went to the park last year it was up most of the day, and I think it has a pretty great drop. I rode Drop Tower at KD the day before and couldn't really decide which I liked better (DT has a more exhilarating overall faster drop vs. MT having a quicker initial release). This thing looks absolutely terrifying. Drop towers are the only thing that really freak me out and tilting like that would completely put me out of my comfort zone. Sign me up!

Retainers on roller coasters?
Milo1188 replied to ArundelHigh Coasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If your retainer comes out for any reason besides you physically taking it out of your mouth, you should consider going to a new orthodontist. -

I just went on it a couple weeks ago during a closed park event and there was no shortage of intensity. Granted I didn't make it on last year so I don't have anything to compare it to, but that first ride blew my mind. If you sit near the back the slowed down lift doesn't even matter. -

Would it be possible to add a separate unloading station like on Millennium Force? They could increase the stopping power of the small break run and place the exit station near the current station with some breaks slowing the ride down after the turn over Comet. I don't have any engineering knowledge really so I don't know how possible that is. A major issue would be loose item return, but you could just put lockers in or something (maybe a airport luggage claim-esque conveyor belt that moves the items to the second station?) I always thought the single side loading/unloading was an idiotic idea. -
Coaster Types and Capacity
Milo1188 replied to Solipsisto's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From what I can tell it is due to ops moving at the fastest speeds they can. Don't they load two trains at a time also though? They load two at a time and each train has two crew members checking restraints. I feel like Verbolten is such a high capacity coaster due to this plus the fact that the restraint is a simple lap bar. Once you start adding more components to that it takes much longer to check. Like where there's a seat belt and some idiot sits down and doesn't realize it. Ride ops get there and have to unlock the train so they can put the seatbelt on and then have to start checking the train all over. I feel that guests being observant is also a factor in capacity on coasters. -
Great RCT Video

This guy has some serious After Effects skills. I would love if you could actually play RCT this way. -
Favorite Coaster Sounds
Milo1188 replied to TheAmazingCP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
GASM'a mid course breaks made that air escaping whoosh noise. I thought aAaconda did too but I was sadly mistaken. It's not exactly a coaster noise, but I love the sound of the water effect on Backlot Stunt Coaster. It sounds like one of those spinner whistles. -

Did Mammoth every get those other "log-flume" esque rafts? -
Rode it once in the back seat a few weeks ago with my girlfriend (it was a day that T-storms kept rolling in causing a constant struggle with rides being open). We loved it. I don't understand how they made that building so dark, had no idea what was going on haha. The drop track was an awesome surprise even though I was expecting it and the launch out of the building was a blast. The drop over the river from the back seat was awesome and that last little section (although the "shakiest" part if the ride) was awesome. I noticed the rattling everyone was talking about, but I don't think it really affected my ride experience. Over all an awesome ride for and amazingly awesome park. It was my first time at the park too, and I think my favorite my actually be Nessie. It surprised me with how smooth it was compared to other Arrow rides I've been on (Anaconda, GASM) and the first drop down the river was stomach churningly awesome. Can't forget the triple helix death tunnel either.

I like the little red swinging doors they added at the exit stairway. All the coasters at Hershey have those wider blue exit doors and I always feel awkward letting them go because they swing with such force and I don't want to hit anybody, especially an unsuspecting child, with it. I feel like the red ones serve the same purpose while being a lot more miniscule. -

Was in the park today for an event and they were working on the pull through all day. Last I saw they let the train roll down from the middle of the really over banked turn near the first drop around 2:30. It started raining around 5:00, not sure how far they got before it hit. It's really hard to see the big chunk of the ride from anywhere in the park, but what you can see looks awesome. -
Two Tickets to Hershey Park Private Event
Milo1188 replied to Milo1188's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to double post, but I want to try to get rid of these. Is there an issue going through everyone's mind leading to no response? Once again closed park event, so short lines and short waits. I'll even lower the price to $35 a piece, $60 for the pair. Any takers? -
Posted this in the Hersheypark thread, but it quickly got lost. I ended up with two extra tickets to the Northrop Grumman employee appreciation day this Saturday, April 21st and wanted to offer them up here. It's a closed park event so that means small lines and apparently all the business types end up leaving early. I'm assuming all the rides that were open during Springtime in the Park will be open (and who knows, maybe SkyRush will be testing ). Gates open at 9:30, park opens at 10:00 and closes at 6:30. $40 a piece, $75 for the pair. We'll be heading to the park for 9:30, so we can arrange to meet at the entrance plaza around then to do the exchange. Either post here or message me if you're interested.

I'm going to the Hershey on the 21st for a closed park event (the business my girlfriend's mom works for rents the park out for their employee's and friends) and was hoping that they're was a chance of a soft opening, but since there hasn't been any testing yet I guess that won't be panning out. Oh well, maybe they'll at least be testing it by then and I can see this baby in action. -
I've been hoping to be able to make this journey this summer to get to KD again (missed Volcano due to the East Coast earthquake, ironic right?)and to finally take a trip to BGW, and here it is all rolled up into a convenient event! How busy are these events usually? I was lucky enough to attend the Hershey Park day of the East Coast trip a few years back and me and my friends had a blast during ERT. What I'm mostly wondering is if there is typically ERT or other chances to experience shorter lines at all during the days? Edit: Nevermind, didn't realize it says it right under the first post. Thought that would be included in the "details coming soon". A better question is how much do the Bash's usually cost?
