The traffic will definately back up this weekend coming from the east whether it be 76 from Branson proper or from the dam. I plan on "sneaking in: like always from Berryville Ark to Kinberling City to Branson West. The weather is playing out perfectly this and lots of folks here in NWA with passes are planning of going in the next week. Someone mentioned Spring Break. Yep, nearly all local schools will be out and last year at SDC was packed during this. -

I'm giddy that once the initial excitement is over. This will reduce waits on Powder Keg to next to nothing when things return to normal. There are rumors this is the first of three major capital project though. I doubt this is the most expensive one either. I wonder if Rob or other Central Florida folks have noticed that Southwest is now offering a Sat direct flight from Orlando to Branson now. -

You'll catch opening ceremonies and have time to eat breakfast or some cinnimon rolls. but they'll have the chains up prohibiting you to the rest of the park. It is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's on Friday. Sat in the 70's but a storm in the afternoon, and cooler but clearing Sun with a high in the 50's. -
I'm guessing they just didn't find a buyer yet...and didn't like the price they would get for scrap. Although Elitch Gardens is managed by Herschend the owners also own Magic Springs which is not managed by Herschend. They could not take it apart because parts of it were welded and not bolted. I don't think the newer owners knew that and we'll see what they do after this year.

They had record attendance last spring break but this March isn't looking near as warm as last. If you put much faith in long term forcasts, Accuweather says it'll be in the mid 60's on March 15 and back down to the 50's on the 16th but sunny both days. That'll change ten times between now and then. -

They have a sky coaster too. I'm thinking more like Undertow spinner not wild mouse. It was just a thought. I'm glad this phase will be done when we hit FLA next Feb. -

Didn't Chance recently end it's partnership with Vekoma? The coaster at Funtime was the last hurrah. Makes sense if they going back to their own designs. -

Got to think a spinning coaster for the second phase would be sweet. -

This place just feels like it would have been a great retirement home for a shuttle loop. Hope this is successful and can't wait to see what they have planned for other land. -
In duck hunting we use a term called "short stopping." That's where someone or something in the typical migration pattern does something that causes the ducks to stop their instinctual flight south for a longer stop over along the way until the weather overcomes it. While in Nashville I noticed quite a bit of Holiday World advertising (bilboards, tourist pamlet racks, so on) One of Hart's goal is to stop those folks from going on to Holiday World. To do that, he has to offer a better, more compelling product. Holiday World bilboards in Nashville boasted of Holiday Worlds Water Coaster. It's called Goliath right? The waterpark is the easiest and quickest fix for this. It has the added benefit to attract locals more often and fleece them of their concession money. It's all about bodies. Trying to campete with Holiday and other parks more northernly with dry rides will require more time and lots more money. Sounds like good business.

As it stands now, there's snow in the the forecast for Tuesday nite. Maybe we'll see some footage of it running in the snow. -

They fly to Branson? I know they fly out of XNA. That's a 1 1/2 hour to 2hr. drive depending on traffic. Air Tran flys from Orlando to Branson. I don't know what the flights in and out of Springfield are offered from ORlando. -

March? Seems early? Hmmmmm I have vaca days that must be used by March 31st. OMG coaster gods please let this happen so I can actually go! SDC is pretty good about having their new attractions ready for opening day. March is Spring Break season and last year had huge crowds for it. The winter has been mild so far here in the Ozarks. -

You fight Rebels, get chased by Razorback, Tigers and Bulldogs, and the finale is that you get squashed by a giant elephant's ass. -

I wonder if the additional land purchased will solely be for water park aspect? This seems like the size of park that the smaller footprint coasters would excel at, like a Stingray or El Toro -

Now if only the box stores on the other side of the two small lakes would fail and the property sold to Funspot for more expansion
