Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ When Diana and I went on Sunday, the line started right there by the lockers. It was 90 minutes from that point. Normally, the actual holiday of a three-day weekend is not as busy as the Sunday, but it looked like the park was pretty busy today. Nice shots of Terminator. That really is a photogenic ride, which is why the way they set it up with the exit going over the track and out into the structure is cool. Eric -
^ All burgers are processed in some way. Wendy's just made theirs square because...it's different. Eric

That's not a valid ZIP code, so I'd say root beer. If Vicks VapoRub can eliminate toenail fungus, what could Mentholatum eliminate? -

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Funny thing...today when Diana and I were at lunch (with the same friend who went with us to SFMM yesterday), he asked if they used clips from the actual movie for the preshows. I told him, "Yeah, sure, the real movie mentions Six Flags Magic Mountain in it." The preshows are fine. Yesterday, the volume inside was just right. One thing I noticed was that the steps leading to the station right out of Preshow 2 were the same kind of wood as the coaster itself. For some reason, it seems like the steps would have made of metal, but perhaps the wooden steps were part of a transition to the "wood" part of the ride. I was told that SFMM was going to put the row numbers on the floor in front of each individual queue because guests were having trouble figuring out which "sector" they were waiting for due to the angle they were placed. Personally, I had no trouble figuring it out. Eric -

^ Interesting thing---they had FlashPass going on Terminator yesterday and last night, though it didn't look like a lot of people were using it. Most likely, it varies from day to day, though. Best to ask when inquiring about renting one (or check the sign for which rides are using it that day). Eric -

That's what kind of watch Fred Flintstone wore when he became rich. Why do English people have an accent when they speak the same language as we do in the U.S.? -
Too bad Plymouth isn't still around. If they were, they'd probably build a new Barracuda to go along with sister company Dodge and their new Challenger. Eric

TPR's Termination Day! Sunday, June 28th, 2009

If I recall, I selected the option of shipping to my address, which I thought was odd because I knew that nothing is physically shipped, but I don't even remember seeing the "( ) Trip or Event Payment - No Shipping Required" option. Otherwise I'd have selected that. Of course, I don't order things online often and most likely I just missed it. That would be my own goof. Eric -

The confirmation e-mail I got read as follows (any emphasis mine): "...You have ordered the following items: TPR Termination Day(Season Pass - Yes) (x1): USD 20.00 Order total tax: USD 0.00 Total: USD 25.00..." Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do I send you a check for $20 or $25? I will guess it's $20... Eric -

^^ Three years? I'd say 11 years and 42 days. Plenty of time to take a shower and get ready for the big blowout. Eric

I guess I need to get out more because I've never seen or heard of "Deluge." That does look like a lot of fun and would be a good fit for either park. On the subject of "prime real estate" within SFMM, remember that Freefall is now gone, and I've heard rumors about Tidal Wave's future not looking so rosy. That would open up a huge spot as well. Wiggles World is supposed to come to the park next year or 2011, as is a new coaster next year. It'll be interesting to see where all of that goes. Eric

Definitely rainbow striped. What will happen when printed newspapers eventually go away? -
Here it is 11:42am, and I'm posting something on Page 1142 of this thread. Coincidence? I think not... Eric

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Diana and I took a trip out to SFMM this afternoon and got two rides on Terminator---once during the day, then finished our visit with one ride in the dark. Each time, we waited about 90 minutes, but both times, something went wrong and held up the line. We didn't mind so much because we knew that new rides sometimes have a kink or two. My first ride was in Row 9, and the second one was in Row 5. I'll have to try out the very front and very back at some point. It was nice to see our own William (wrs28330) working inside the Terminator station. And speaking of the station, it did seem a bit smallish, but it also worked well. The fly-through wasn't as loud as I'd imagined it to be. Our impression was that it was a great ride with some nice little pops of air here and there. The turnaround off of the lift was faster than it looked in all of the videos I've seen, and the first drop gets you up to speed pretty quickly despite not being so steep. Pacing is excellent, with no slowdowns during the ride. The special effects in the first tunnel were impressive, especially at night. Funny thing, during the ride, I wasn't really paying attention to the soundtrack, so I can't make any valid comments about that. The trains are quite comfortable and the overall ride is as smooth as can be expected from a woodie. But it's a GCII, so... 'nuff said. But this has merely whetted my appetite for June 28... Eric -

I didn't see anything about this, but were they using groupers today? Or could you choose whichever row you wanted to sit in? "Also, the station is the same size as every other ride we do" (SupermanFan from Page 247) Maybe the station seems smaller because of the fly-by track above. That reduces overhead space and could give the impression of a smaller station even though the square footage of floor space is the same. Eric -
^ They actually have one sugar free flavor, but I don't care for coffee anyway. A few of the fast food places are trying to come up with Southern Style Chicken Sandwiches. Most aren't bad, but not as good as the one at Chick-Fil-A. Eric

"And isn't Six Flags affiliated with warner bros some way?" (ethans_dad06) At one time, Six Flags was owned by Time Warner, but I think that was back in the '80s/'90s. ^ I watched both the front seat and back seat POVs. Terminator looks like it really packs a punch regardless of where you sit! Eric -
Logos On Front Of Coaster Trains...

I'd rather see the ride's name. Why do they need to put the park's name on everything? Guests already know where they are---at least I'd hope so... Eric -

How was the pacing for the ride, that is, was there any stacking of trains? Also, I'm guessing there's a seatbelt along with the lapbar... Eric
