  1. hmmm. I totally get why they want it "understated" at night (illuminated, but not brightly lit), as they don't want it to "distract" from Spaceship Earth. But honestly, the central lighting isn't really doing it for me, and actually I find is a little distracting. I think it would look a TON better if the only lighting was inside/around the base, matching SE's colors, and the main fountain remained clear and unlit from inside (maybe a spot shined on it instead of interior lit? if at all? I really do think it would look fantastic with only the base lighting in the water). - HOWEVER - that's just my art-director/nitpicky coming out-- as this fountain looks amazing during the daylight/unlit hours. Really nice design, that fits the area perfectly. can't wait to see this in person (at some point in the future).
  2. ^ those are absolutely being sold as "pairs" get two boxes, if you want a real "train". .Like I did with the doom buggies!
  3. heh. . I happen to be listening to Friends of Carlotta (F.O.C.)
  4. ^ that's a huge shame re: Spiegelworld. . I absolutely *adored* "Absinthe" I hope the performers are able to land somewhere great once things start to get a bit back to normal in 2021
  5. IDEAL: Sometime May trip to Carowinds (to make up for our cancelled 2020 trip) Mid Summer California Trip, to finally get to go to SF Magic Mountain. (I'd love to do a Summer roadtrip to multiple parks, but I just don't have a good feeling that things will be back to normal enough to allow that to happen) Dragon*con on Labor Day weekend (including a Labor Day visit to SFOG) Asia Disney Parks for Christmas/New Years time REALISTIC: Carowinds (tho I have a feeling it WON'T happen in May -- and instead will bump to Summer, and knock any California trip out of 2021 Dragon*con/SFOG (it's Labor Day, and even tho I expect things will look different for the Convention? regardless, I hope to be in Atlanta that week to see my friends and hang out). December Asia Trip (fingers so freaking crossed this can happen in 2021)
  6. ^^ you are a braver man than I i would have seen some of the condition of these rides, and said "nope". . and gotten back int he car!
  7. it's all a crap shoot, due to the year that 2020 has been. Historically, Sunday morning is the way to go - Texans love going to church. (and Canobie Coaster was just there on a Sunday last week, and he said was dead in the morning). so if for me? I'd go on 12/20, and go early, as it will get more crowded as the day goes on.
  8. Now, Bill. . you have to search for the clinical term: "Blueprints shaped like penis"
  9. I'm a comics nerd too, and I didn't know that! LOL. . but I do know about THIS infamous panel from the Comic they did based on "Injustice: Gods Among Us" - this is from Issue #17. it was digital 1st, and the colorist got confused and the comic was released digitally with this image included (no. . really): tho they DID go in and "fix" it with the inking in the actual *printed* copy of the book:
  10. Great report. . I had such a fun time with y'all that day too! Looking forwards to your SFOT day
  11. ^ Mack *did* introduce a "power loop" concept (Power Splash with a loop) in January 2020 - (you can search for it on youtube - deleted the video imbed, as not from an official MACK site) so who the hell knows. . LOL
  12. VERY true. but on that "what's New" page, 2021 is listed for Aquaman at least 3 times that I counted, thruout the page. could very well be 2022 - which doesn't make a whole lotta sense, since it's basically built and almost ready. . but guess we'll see. i'm thinking 2022 is a typo tho on the app.
  13. could it possibly be a typo? Front page of SFOT site - just now - still shows 2021 (you'd think that would be the 1st thing they'd change)
  14. got one on Wed from SFFT - very similar , tho different "ideas" (dance party, New Year's Eve all thru January, Parking Lot Movies - projected on big screens). . . what's odd, is they obviously missed editing some of the language from their "cut and paste" survey. the SFFT one mentioned at the beginning of the survey that it's open weekends (Fiesta is a year round park), but in the options, they kept mentioning Rides are closed during these proposed "events" so . . yeah. . I suspect the events are planned only for during the week - and on weekends, everything would operate as normal, and for things such as the New Year's Eve - the countdowns, dancing, parties would only happen on the special event days during the week? Still, odd they worded things that way. especially since SFFT tends to be open daily thru big portions of Feb-March (Mardi Gras celebration & Spring Break). But who knows? maybe with Covid, they really did cut "full park" operating hours for 2021 to weekends only.
  15. our lights are actually "flashers". . that have yellow, orange, red, blue, green. . . it just happens that the pic caught yellow/orange in mine. . . LOL. .it looks like Halloween still on our back porch (facing a major street). . but it's pretty fast blinking of multiple colors
  16. We got lazy with the back porch tho. . only one long string of lights.
  17. I didn't realize you had such gorgeous weather for your SWSA day too - looks like it was a beautiful day to visit! and great pics of the Riverwalk area. Yeah, that Hyatt is lovely, innit?
  18. what a wonderful report - with fantastic pictures (as usual). Thanks for sharing, Andy. . .love this!
  19. the restraints on Poltergeist cause loading to be so slow, they don't often even run 2 trains - and when they do, the 1st train is always sitting out in the sun on the brake run while the 2nd train takes forever to load as people try to figure out where that "side seatbelt" clicks (it connects to the lap bar), and struggle to figure it out. but at least they (and SFA) don't use the MCBR, so the train just flies thru the 2nd half, and that "hidden" inversion towards the end is taken as an amazing speed.
  20. it's the exact same ride as Joker's Jinx at SFA (and run the same way), as well as the same ride as Flight of Fear at Kings Island/Kings Dominion (tho its' indoors there, and they slow it way down at the MCBR). so you've been on it, sorta, right?
  21. hurm. . . ok, so DESPITE being told from Customer Service (in an email response no less), the official site says there is a charge for Pass holders and Members: "Members and Season Pass Holders do not require reservations. Present your pass upon entry to purchase discounted tickets for only $7.49 plus tax per person. This offer is available every night of the Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience from 6 – 10:30 PM. Card and digital payments only, please." reservations seem to have filled up - although this notes no reservation required for Members/Pass Holders. (ok, that's strange). So I guess we'll try for a day next week, and if shows sold out online, will just drive up with email in hand, and see what happens - if they charge us, and if they will let us in without a reservation. here's the page from SFFT website if you want more info: https://www.sixflags.com/fiestatexas/events/fiestatexas-events-hip-drive-thru
  22. oh look. . I got a survey from Kennywood asking me what type of "events" I'd prefer they do to get me coming to the park most often. luckily, there's a space on the last page to give some feedback on what other new special events I'd like to see at Kennywood:
  23. Noelle Stevenson recently did too (although she did not change her name, and said that any/all pronouns will continue to be acceptable to her). if you're not familiar, Noelle does the amazing "Lumberjanes" comic book, as well as the "She-Ra" animated show. her announcement of top surgery on twitter was hysterical. . .
  24. R.I.P. Josh. . May his memory be a blessing.
