  1. but it IS across the street from KISS Monster Mini Golf! and that rocks (and the Draughthaus restaurant, where we had some amazing German food)
  2. Free shuttles from Bally's/Paris and there are free shuttles from the corner across the street to the Orleans.
  3. the M buffet was good 3 years ago, but this past trip? HIGHLY disappointing. MGM Grand we didn't even eat at this time (and taking out the Lions -- for a nightclub? -- took away any reason we really had to stay, so we went across the boulevard for: the Wicked Spoon in Cosmopolitan is our new favorite, as we loved the idea of a Tapas buffet. We ended up eating there twice. another great buffet that should be mentioned: the Friday/Sat seafood buffet at Golden Nugget. Since Golden Nugget got bought out by Landry's Seafood Restaurants, we always make a point to go to the seafood buffet at least once a trip. And it's always GREAT (this last trip, no exception). hot/cold crab legs, tons of seafood options (snapper/Tilapia/Cod), Crawdads, shrimp. . very good meal.
  4. we were just there in May, and they were demolishing O'Sheas, and the front of IP while we were there. we were told by Flamingo staff (since it too is owned by Harrah's (Ceasar's Entertainment)), that the construction was for the "Giant Wheel" that's being put in off the strip, and for a re-theming of IP, that was gonna happen "next year" guess they pulled in the dates? oh, also while we were there "Fitzgerald's" suddenly became "the D". . which was funny, since the Leprechaun and 4-leaf clover stuff was still all over the inside of the Hotel/Casino. we LOVE Vegas and go back every couple of years. . always something new!
  5. my Partner wanted to go to that show when it came to Austin. . but I think Journey was on the bill instead of Kansas? (because we were weighing the merits of seeing: Journey w/out Steve Perry, Styx without Dennis DeYoung, and Foreigner without Lou Gramm). LOL was it a good show? we *are* planning on going to see Asia in September -- as he is a fan. it's the 4 original guys, but they are touring a new album, so who knows how many classic songs they'll be playing. last show we actually went to was Weird Al, on the Alpocolypse tour (and that was quite fun).
  6. but that doesn't make sense, since why would they need to pull out Flashback? (and what does that have to do w/ Natl. Roller-coaster day?) thought they weren't announcing until tomorrow anyways? could that image not be a custom flying coaster?
  7. I've got a bunch of em. . but no longer recall how much I paid for em (yeah. .it's about time to get some additional ones, as it's been over 10 years since my last one). I can tell you they are addictive (it's hard to stop at just 1). as to "pain level". . eh. . minor. feels like a bee sting to get, and feels like a sunburn when healing. so not bad at all, tho as you go towards your extremities, it does tend to be a bit more painful. anyways, here's my first one: a flaming Yin & Yang (that matched a ring I wore back then). I'm considering getting a cover-up on this one, but have decided yet as to what. here's my name in Hieroglyphics (done at the Houston International Festival back in the early 90's) I'm a huge comic fan, and my favorite characters are the Metal Men (robots made of metal, duh!). here's the "symbols" for my favorite 3: Gold, Mercury, and Iron (and also because I'm precious, ever-changing, and bull-headed): and finally, a tribal Piranha (on the bikini line)
  8. not only that, but he joined one day after "caruss866" -- the poster who started the "SFOT YOUR FIRED!" thread. with the posts as same giant block of text, typos, and misspellings (it's spelled "profane" dude). and no age/location listed -- something most people do tend to fill in. not sure how TPR feels about multiple accounts, but this is very clearly the same poster stirring up things under two different names.
  9. LOL too true. and as I noted (kinda), my Minor was in English, so despite my capitalization quirk, my grammar and spelling usually tends to be spot on. I think that's why I haven't gotten any complaints about it.
  10. Not to bust balls, but when did not capitalizing the first word of a sentence become en vogue? oh, not feeling busted at all. it's something I've always done, and has been my writing style for probably 40 + years. it's one of those 'quirks' I never shook, and yeah, it drove my teachers nuts in school way back when too (note: my login is correct in terms of capitalization, since I've always gone by "bert" -- it's a shortened version of Robert. so if you drop the "Ro" that leaves you with "bert" -- hence the lower case "b"). oh, and since you brought them up, and since this thread already has Pink Lady (and Jeff!):
  11. we're old enough to remember
  12. HOW DARE YOU!!! (leaving out poor Jeff again . . he gets less respect than Brian Dunkleman)
  13. since this is now the grammar and spelling thread, let me put on my English editor's hat (too bad it doesn't have mouse ears): 1) paragraphs are your friend! 2) Obvious some in this post don't like to have there parade rained on "their" not "there" 3) spelling things in ALL CAPS and adding lots of exclamation points!!!!!!! doesn't make your argument stronger. (neither does referring to SFoT signature "Pink Things" as "Pink Lady", but that's neither here nor there). a strong argument, with examples and/or details (ie: specifics) is what makes your argument stronger. and I have no idea what you mean by "Blue Bus" in Austin. Do you work for SuperShuttle?
  14. just discovered the forums exist beyond the main RollerCoaster & Donkeys one! so here's some pics of me: my Partner and I in Hawaii last year: Me and Jenna Jameson at Madame Troussaud's in Vegas: Me cos-playing as Courtney Love years ago at Dragon*con (in Atlanta) My Friend, Painter Larry Dixon, me, Adam from Mythbusters, my friend (and Larry's wife) author Mercedes Lackey
  15. who knew TPR had forums other than the roller-coaster and donkey's one? heh been around for a few months now, after what seems like years of lurking. I'm bert I'm in Cedar Park (just outside of Austin) I tend not to capitalize at the beginning of sentences (and I've been told that makes some folks around here nuts, but haven't had any problems since I *do* use proper grammar). 45, Partnered for 8+ years. love pop-culture, theme parks, Las Vegas, comics, music (all kinds other than Pop & Country). and, um. . . guess I'll explore a bit more.
  16. wow. . that's a whole lot of words up there, with really no specifics. with no specfics to address, I don't see the point. sheesh. . . I guess i"m saying you'd get more sympathy from me if you said, "we went, it was too hot, and the park doesn't have enough shade" but really from what you posted here, it just sounds like you're upset it's not Knott's Berry Farm (no CHICKEN! NO BOYSENBERRY PIE! BOOOOOOOO!!!!!) oh, and ETA: what a great first post.
  17. oh, I grew up in Houston (even went to UH for a couple of years before transferring up to UT). but Houston is a big city with some Colleges (notably University of Houston, Rice, and possibly Stanford). Austin is really classified as a College town (that also happens to be the State Capital). Seriously, we have four big colleges here: University of Texas St. Edwards Concordia University Huston-Tillotson (all within City Limits, and that's not counting Austin Community College, the Texas branch of University of Phoenix, and a local branch of LeCourdon Bleu Culinary Academy). and if you go just up I35 to San Marcos - another Biggie: Texas State University but yeah, glad to hear others have found the discounts too! we just wait until we see the local ad, and then go to HEB and purchase!
  18. Same is true for Austin: SFFT is ~ 1 1/2, and SFoT is ~3 1/2 hours it was GREAT when Astroworld was in the mix too, as we had 3 parks to drive to We still benefit by living in a non-Six Flags city tho (and it being a College town, closer to San Antonio than Houston is helps a TON too). . as we get really cheap offers for Season Passes. the current ones we have, we got a 4 pack + a Parking Pass for Fiesta for ~$180 (so assume the parking pass was $20 -- which I think is actually more, but just for demonstration here). . we paid only $40 each for our Season Passes. the only issue we even have is getting a couple of friends to buy in with us. Does Houston offer any price specials like that? Or is that because we're Austin, so they are going after the College kids only ~ an hour 1/2 or so away? (and also competing w/ Seaworld & Schlitterbahn).
  19. we need to get this thread back on track. she's gonna have to i(Ron) those sheets!
  20. Yes, they need to keep the tunnel, maybe they will just make it a disco tunnel like NTAG tunnels. And yes it is a small world after all. I did not think I meet any others from the land of the Pear on here. my Parents live in Pearland . . .so sorta/kinda, that makes 3 of us
  21. so this is going to be Flashback from Six Flags Over Texas?
  22. well. . as Robb would say, this thread got "TWISTYYYYYYYY"
  23. and somehow, an Archie Comics character is now tainted to me!
  24. Vamp-I-Roni-ca? (yes, she's really called that!)
