Mine sits quietly on the bench and wont even take pics for me! I rode X-Cellerator 4 times in a row, and he didn't take a single pic! The only pics of the ride I got are ones I took after I got off of it.

^^ as has been said, at the end of the day, it's still CircusCircus. (where "Inverter" is arguably the most popular ride in Adventuredome -- it was PACKED every day we were there). so yeah, El Loco will be a hit. -

Sorry it's taken me two weeks to post, I got really sick and just now had time to upload/format the pics from the camera. anyhow, here are pictures from two weeks ago, when we were in Vegas for the NASCAR race! It rained the first day, so as you can see (compared to the first post in this thread) the Adventuredome really upgraded the weatherproofing in the past two years "standard" pic, from infront of Chaos: and now the construction pics (sadly out of date a little bit now (sorry)): -
I'd ride "Peter Pan" over and over forever it was a choice between that and "NTAG" or "Iron Rattler" or even "XCellerator" same is true for "Winne the Pooh" Theming is so much more important than anything else (heck, just look at the difference that was just made in Dumbo. Moving it and adding to the theming improved a great flat ride, into a BRILLIANT ride.

Theme Parks. Hands down. I love Amusement parks too, but a Theme Park is what gets my inner fanboy excited. It's the difference between a Thanksgiving Dinner, and a quick stop at Burger King. The moment I walk into a Disney Park I am transported to another place. A theme park ISN'T about the rides, it's about the experience. I enjoy the rides, but heck, one of my favorite parks is EPCOT, and I could spend a full 5 day park-hopper just hanging out in World Showcase, going into every shop, looking at all the architecture, and simply "experiencing" the place. Same is true of Dollywood, or the Busch Garden parks. at a Six Flags, or at Knott's?.. we just run from ride to ride, and then when we are done, we are done. (Knott's gets a bit of a nod tho, because we always experience Mystery Lodge, and we *always* get chicken and Pie. . and the Ghost Town does still work as a themed area). but still. . . my point is, I'll take a Theme Park (which will keep me entertained & enthralled the whole day), over an Amusement park (which will give me some thrills, but are basically empty calories).
-
huh. . I think if it's part of a theme park, it might work. but I don't see it ever happening. the one behind Flamingo/Imperial Palace looks pretty far along, and I'll bet that's the only one that actually gets completed.

Most of em, except for the upper New England States (on my wish list, but an eventual trip to Niagara falls in the future should cover that. . .tho I've got Maryland, New York, New Jersey covered already) we did Hawaii two years ago, and just booked a cruise to Alaska.. . so once that's done, I'm pretty much traveled all over in the USA other than what I mentioned in the opening line.

k, so I think we are about to book. we ended up flying into Vancouver early (weirdly, our flight out has a stop in Houston, then direct to Vancouver, but the flight back goes thru San Francisco). We have a full day in Vancouver for sightseeing before the Wedding on Saturday, and then the cruise leaves on Sunday. We are going with Celebrity Century, and based on his recommendation, doing the room w/ the concierge (he says the upgrades you get by going with that one make it worth it, even tho the price is ~the same as a room w/ just a verandah). we don't really know what the excursions offered are (I'm gonna wait until he gets back to me), but from the Celebrity site, it just mentions there are some in Juno, but doesn't specify. So we'll just play it more by ear, I suppose.. worst case, we can find SOMETHING to do in Juno -- as the ship is docked there for 10 hours. the other stop is only for 6 hours, so I expect that will be shopping I see "drink packages" offered on the Celebrity site as well, but again, not prices, or descriptions. So I guess you do that upon checking into the Ship. Nick is still kinda iffy.. he thinks it's a lot of money, and what if the boat is late getting back? (since our flight out is 3 pm on the day the ship returns). . . but the Travel Agent assures us that this is plenty of time to make it, and he's sure the cruise line offers a shuttle (for pay, I'm sure), to the airport from the dock, so we shouldn't worry. but truth is, we can afford it (all in all, w/ airfare, cruise, hotel (3 nights), and wedding gift. . it's gonna end up costing somewhere in the neighborhood of 8K, and that's without $$ spend in casino, on alcohol, shopping, tips, etc). . . and also go while we can. We both got the time off work, and we're both in good health at the moment

Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
bert425 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
My Partner is a heavy smoker, tho he does not smoke in the house (the Garage is his designated smoking area ) so really, the only issue I have w/ Smoking Areas in parks, is that when we start to get a "groove" going in WDW or Six Flags, we have to stop and find the closest Smoking Area -- about once an hour. It really impacts in parks like EPCOT where the Smoking Areas are so dang far away from everything (like has been suggested by some here). I was greatly relieved to discover at Disneyland how close the Smoking Areas were -- tho for the most part tucked away -- but it was nice to not have to go way out of the way just so Nick can smoke. I'm not a smoker, but I'm not gonna let him go off by himself (and he does not like being alone in a strange place. . he's slightly agorophobic), so I end up having to stand with him. I'd rather it be along the path we're already on, than to drop everything to go stand in the middle of a plaza far away from Mission Space! -

oh. .it was fun filling out their questionnaire they just sent me! We were upgraded to one of the "remodeled" rooms, in the Main Casino Tower upon check in.. and I will freely admit that the room was beautiful, and was MUCH better than I expected (cream wallpaper/carpet, maroon linnens/curtains, and wood/cream colored leather furniture). but yeah. . we found "nasty" stuff left from prior guests on the bedsheets/covers, and for 4 nights we had SCREAMING babies in the rooms next to us (screaming between 1am and 4am almost non-stop). I told them I liked the room improvements, and would definitely visit the property again -- the Steakhouse was hands down, the best restaurant experience/food we have *ever* had in Vegas. i KNOW. . I was shocked too!. . but once you get past the entranceway, and down the long hall into the actual steakhouse? Old School Vegas -- all Mahogany & Brass, huge Chandeliers, giant open pit where the chefs grill the steaks, and NO kids. I asked our waiter and he told us that "no, the typical CC guests don't come into the steakhouse". LOL Yes, very expensive, but seriously, my Prime Rib? 1 1/2 inches thick, and about 10 inches long. Served with big baked potato, veggies, bread basket & blackbean soup. We used a coupon from the CC book, and got a complimentary bottle of wine too ($40). so definitely back to the property just for that place. but we have no plans to ever *stay* there again. We told them why waste the money upgrading the rooms, and then NOT have "no kids under 10" floors? It makes absolutely no sense to stay in a nice room, but not be able to get any sleep because screaming kids next door. (something you get enough of in the Casino and all over the rest of their Property -- "Rockin Rita's" was a nightmare.. the kids LOVE those toilet bowl plates!). as to "survived".. I did get sick, remember? (heh) -

We just got back Tuesday from a 5 day stay at Circus Circus (we were in town for the NASCAR race), and I took a bunch of pics in the Adventuredome I plan to post too. (of course, after touching slot machines, and riding in planes, I've gotten sick -- so haven't had a chance yet to upload the pictures). . but I was able to get a few of the station, the removed "last drop", and ground level pics of the Catapiller (which doesn't seem to have moved since the pic on the prior page!). they did put up big fences to "block" the views, but there was a nice gap I was able to get my camera thru to snap pics , and was able to take some good ones on the bridge when leaving Canyon Blaster. Canyon Blaster, by the way, was running the smoothest - and FASTEST -- I've ever been on. We rode it Saturday night with our free passes from CC (you get a fairly decent coupon book if you stay at the hotel, which includes a few good Adventuredome coupons). I even mentioned it to the ride op, and he said it was running so fast due to the weather ? (it was cold, and had rained most of the day Friday, so I have pics of the classy white buckets all thruout the Adventure dome too!). Never heard that explanation before, but hey, it was running so fast, they were getting away with only one train, even on a crowded Sat. Night. pics hopefully this weekend from me too! -
I was shocked to see he was only 58! He looked SO old back in the early 90's already. from all reports tho, he was a very, very nice man, so it's a shame he died so young-ish.

^^ but . . but. . . it also gave us "Garfunkel & Oates" this one is my favorite! -
I love the Hustler, and it always gets treated poorly. which is a shame, as it has some of the BEST theming in the park! in fact, when I took the Season Pass Survey last year, I pointed out that the placement of the Basketball Game in front of Hustler completely destroys the best theming in the park.. . . of course, they simply "thanked" me for my input.

ok. we're not watching it any more. We watched the first 3 episodes and are out. horrible season, the "favorites" are a joke (they were originally 2nd chance folks. .but the Producers couldn't get enough who were willing to sign back on -- you GO "Shambo"). two extreme camera hogs (crazy ones at that) in Phillip and Hantz, and not a single very likeable player on the team (unless you squint a bit for Dawn). .but what they did to Franchesca? Inexcusable and downright evil. the fact that Brenda - one of the most interesting & calculating Survivor contestants ever, has been reduced to "background" on the "favorites" tribe? yeah. . unwatchable. and then over on the Fans side, what could have been interesting, has been rendered moot by camera/drama-hog Shamar. One of the most thoroughly unpleasant contestants ever on the show. . and that's saying a LOT. the last two voted out on the fans side? We didn't even get to know them well. . since all the camera time is being eaten up by Shamar, we're out, and instead are watching "Arrow" on Wednesdays now.
