  1. at first I thought Ride of Steel might be dull. . it doesn't seem to do much. . .but dang if that sucker doesn't haul! and those pops of air near the end. looks like lots of fun
  2. that's at the Armory, is it not? (I'm trying to remember, it was back in 2004, when my Ex lived in Huntsville..so I used to visit a lot. we saw an IMAX film there, toured the rocket garden (where the ride is) . . .somewhere I have a pic. . found it:
  3. they have to be open. . to compete with Disney which is so close, and is open year round too. When we did our Disney trip, we took a day trip to Knott's (think it was a Wednesday), and there were, literally, less than 200 customers in the park. way more employees than customers. and almost everything was open (Xcellerator and Silver Bullet were walk ons that they didn't even make me get off the coaster to ride again). Even Supreme Scream was a walk on.
  4. Theme-ing! actually, from the Park Index here, you can see what it is:
  5. I used to love woodies, but I think I simply aged out of them (or girthed out of them). of course, all those years riding Rattler didn't help (and Ghostrider at Knotts almost killed me squeezing into that tiny seat just to get beat to heck). . .but I'm so glad you post POVs Robb 'cause otherwise I'd never get to enjoy Colossus. (at least not without all my "chubby-bits" jiggling like crazy!).
  6. depends where we are. for example: we hold hands at Disney Parks. but we didn't at Knott's. and we don't at Six Flags (but that's because we go with friends and their kid, so we tend not to PDA when we are with our friend's kiddo). But we DO a lot of "air kisses". . . so lots of vocalizing "mmmm-wah"s when we are out
  7. LOVE the way it goes in and out (and around) the buildings. extremely well done, and I'd love to get to ride this some day. but until then. . .. thanks for the POV!
  8. I can't find it at the moment, but I could swear we've seen a recent pic of the station, and the "cramped" ramps are still there. that looks to me like the "Chicken Exit" staircase. .tho I could be totally wrong.
  9. OMG. . I would not set foot on that! Terrifying. it looks like it's broken and it's about to collapse . . like something you see on a ride-accident website. y'all are far, far braver than I, if you rode this.
  10. looks like y'all had a fantastic time!. . . heh. .all those Mariachi's brought back flashbacks of my many travels in Mexico when I was younger. I'm shocked by the size of the lines to go up the pyramids. Granted, last time we went was over 20 years ago, but every time, we *never* had crowds like that. . . yep, the pyramid of the sun, and pyramid of the moon used to be Walk Ons
  11. I never kept track, but growing up near Astroworld in Houston, and having a season pass every year thruout the 80's (and getting dropped off at the park EVERY day over the summer). we racked up (easily) *hundreds* of rides on "Greezed Lightening" "Excalibur" 'Gunslinger' "Skyscreamer" (it was scary as hell when it first opened, and NEVER had a line) but our most ridden in the park, was most likely "Wagon Wheel" we rode this over and over and over
  12. ^^ heh. . I can see it now: "I will ONLY ride a Wacky Worm, darn it!"
  13. wow. .look at that. . no screaming at all! (tho I don't blame her for not releasing Mommy's arm to "wave at the TPR friends on the ground"). brave, brave kiddo. never mind paying the up-charge. . . they could not pay me enough to do one of these. And I'm not all that afraid of heights! yes, a child is braver than I. . but I'm not ashamed. . . no. . I'm not!
  14. I'm waiting for SixFlags to try to one-up the Girlie walkthru with the newest dark-ride attraction at SFOT: "Hemorrhoid -- close encounters at Uranus!"
  15. um. . . perhaps you meant "Breast-icles?"
  16. LOLA. . Lololololo-La. Lo-lo-lo-lo-looooooo-laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Robb's not the world's most passionate man, but he knows what he am, and what he am is a man. . . . .
  17. Not at all. They really just feel like a normal pair of sunglasses. My only issue with them is that I wish the FOV was a bit wider. was it expensive? Can't wait to see IRAT footage using that camera!
  18. blech. . even on video, a boomerang still gives me 'head-bang' and makes me want to vomit.
  19. oh, and posting again to say, that even when you don't upload vids here, my Partner sometimes yells at me as I'll spend hours watching your Youtube clips. . . LOL best coaster vids (and other stuff - even the snow/backyard coaster) online! (I'd love a TPR bag o crap, heck I even started a thread on the Random board saying I think the only way I'll get a bag of crap is to Sail on Carnival Cruise Lines. . . . . tho don't pity me, we are going on Celebrity to Alaska in May ).
  20. I so want to go to SixFlags Mexico now.
  21. Loved his reviews, and don't forget, he also wrote the camp classic "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" (and "Beneath the Valley of the Ultra Vixens" with celebrated Schlockmaster Russ Meyer)
  22. we also lost today Carmine Infantino. best known for creating the Barry Allen (the best known version) of the Flash character for DC comics, he also had a hand in the creation of Batgirl, Black Canary, Animal Man, Deadman, and many others. the man was a comic book legend for DC comics. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/04/carmine-infantino-passes-away-at-87?abthid=515dfb3d633b7c004d000015
  23. that's a good album, but I LOVE the follow up that came out mid last year ("Panic"). if you like these guys, you would probably also like Abney Park (a favorite of mine I discovered at Dragon*con in Atlanta many years ago). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abney_Park_(band) they tend to be a little less "swing-y" and a bit more "Industrial/Steampunk". . but the atmosphere is very similar to what CP sounds like. . at least to me ).
  24. my thoughts? this should be a "haunt" attraction, but that's it. MANY folks aren't into the whole "zombie" thing, and wouldn't want an attraction where the idea is to "kill" things trying to kill you. the MIB attraction is something that's completely family friendly, and targets the general audience of the films (a much larger audience than you tend to get with a horror genre). so yeah. . for a Halloween attraction, great. Permanent? not so much.
  25. Pics or it didn't happen here's my fraidy-cat coaster bubbie (we've been together 9+ years now) (and one from a few weeks back in Vegas)
