  1. the problem is that there is a DIFFERENCE between "foreshadowing" and "telegraphing". . .and unfortunately, this episode was telegraphed for weeks. so it was a march to the inevitable, instead of the shock the showrunners were hoping for. (Tho it also pays to remember that MANY of the storylines are way off book at this point. . so it was WONDERFUL to see Dogan show up at the arena).
  2. yeah the part I find mist disquieting are those who seem to be truly unprepared. . the man was in his 90's! but I do believe while packing for our trip this weekend, we'll be having an in-memoriam "Hammer-Castle" film marathon in his honor.
  3. I think we get the point. You need to understand that Cedar Fair knows more about the amusement industry than you do, and has made Kings Dominion into an excellent park. Complaining day after day isn't changing anything, and I'm getting tired of listening to it. I don't complain day after day, and I was just tellin' a little joke. Sheesh. you actually do complain.. a LOT. just an observation. Maybe I've just noticed it a lot more because we are going to be in the park (one of my bucket list parks) in just about a week for the first time. and every time I excitedly check the thread, it's you complaining how "terrible' the park is. . . . it's draining on my enthusiasm.
  4. can't stress this enough: Ride. Volcano. First. the first coaster you will see and be drawn to is Dominator. walk right past it and proceed to Volcano. Volcano's line is extremely slow and just gets longer and longer as the day goes on. in afternoons, i've seen a 2 hour wait for Volcano while i305 is almost a walk on. Noted. I've seen several folks mention this. Volcano 1st thing in the park! thanks
  5. Glad to see these responses to Ape. Making me feel better as I've mentioned, we are going to be hitting KD on Friday, 6/19 (on our way to DC after checking out from the Williamsburg hotel), so we're only planning to spend 6-8 hours in the park (this is the first day they are open until 10pm too). we're hoping to be there at open, and back on the road to Washington by 6pm (so we can get to the hotel while still have some daylight), and we are going to TRY to ride everything (many things, my Partner won't ride anyways), in particular the woodies. but for sure, the 3 things I don't want to miss are: Volcano, I305, and Windseeker. . all things he won't ride. . LOL. so not budgeting for a Fast Lane, but the comments here make me more confident in that choice. I know Friday won't be DEAD, but at least it will be less folks than on a weekend!
  6. in particular the Steakhouse at Circus Circus!. . it's one of our favorite restaurants on the planet. here's the regular menu: https://www.circuscircus.com/images/PDF/SteakhouseMenu.pdf but w/ Restaurant week, ~$50 gets you: a main that retails for $95 ($45 petite Fillet + $50 crab legs topper). not to mention any soup/salad (~$13) + a desert ($10-$14). hell of a deal. http://www.helpoutdineoutlv.org/component/restaurants/582?view=restaurant&tmpl=restaurant
  7. Great pics. . loved reading the TR.
  8. we're planning two days, so we'll likely skip it the first day, so that way if we wait in line the 2nd, no worries. Lemme know if you're going to be in the park either day we're there and want to meet up to say 'hi' (we're planning to be there on 6/16 & 6/17 -- tho that might switch up a little depending on weather (if rain, we'll do Colonial Williamsburg museums on that day)).
  9. thanks for the tips. you also get a good discount thru Club TPR. . you should check out joining - especially if you visit several parks in a year.
  10. AMAZING scenes with Tyrion and Danaryes. . I'm sure GRRM is kicking himself that he's delayed their meeting for so long in the book that the TV show did it first!
  11. Busch Gardens WIlliamsburg in just about 2 weeks. followed by Kings Dominion in just about 2 1/2 weeks
  12. This gets asked a lot, and the answer I give is always La Vibora (the Bobsleds, to the left of the entrance). the two lowest capacity coasters in the park are La Vibora, and Pandemonium. And the lines get super long, super fast, tho they sometimes run single rider on La Vibora. Honestly, La Vibora isn't super exciting, but it IS a unique ride at the park, so I would go into the left, hit La Vibora, then the flume, then New Texas Giant, Titan, Shockwave, Runaway Mountain, Runaway Mine Train, Mr. Freeze, Batman, Judge Roy, THEN Pandemonium if still have time. that covers all the coasters (other than Mini-mine train), and there are several fun flats to hit after (including the 400ft Skyscreamer, and the Superman Towers of Power. . if you're braver than I). Shockwave and New Texas Giant are both gonna get re-rides from you, pretty much guaranteed.
  13. ^ don't pass up the Hershey Whip (short cycle but good ride), and we also loved the Condor, and the Tilt A Whirl.
  14. I found video of attraction from the Maricopa fair back in April. hmmm. . it doesn't look that extreme. Wonder what went wrong? [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  15. great report (thus far) and glad you had fun at Kennywood. yep, I still would have skipped Skyrocket to get rides in on the Whip (lost Kennywood), the Turtle, and Kangaroo -- the last two a real shame you skipped, since they are so rare. Not to mention the beautiful Logjammer (flume) Ghostwood Estates is fun too, if you thought Garfield was weird! as you said tho, you'll have to go back, as all that signage around the lake?. . GORGEOUS at night with the lighting on Racer in particular.
  16. is Friday still considered a "weekday". .or do they get more crowded?
  17. don't miss out on the Chocolate Martinis at the main bar at the lodge (behind the fireplace). . they are fantastic (in particular the white chocolate rasberry). . but be warned, you get to keep the glass! The burgers in the sports themed (ice rink, I think) restaurant were very good as well.
  18. we feel the same way about scenery/culture vs Coasters on vacations, and that's why we're about to do a Kings Dominion/Busch Gardens trip, with also stops at Colonial WIlliamsburg, and Washington DC. have a great time on your trip regardless where you are stopping!
  19. Robb was quoted in an AP article that ran in the local Austin Paper today (Parks turning aging coasters into bigger, wilder thrill rides). http://www.statesman.com/ap/ap/texas/theme-parks-turning-aging-coasters-into-new-thrill/nmKD4/ (looks like the AP article came out 5/19, but for some reason the Stateman ran it today). . where I saw they not only quoted Robb, but gave the Themeparkreview.com site in the story! wOOt! congrats Team TPR!
  20. what today's storms looked like at SFoT: http://www.kpho.com/clip/11530826/raw-flooding-hits-six-flags-over-texas
  21. do the KD coasters accommodate guests of a larger size? I know that the Cedar Fair parks typically have some big=boy seats. I'm about the same as I was last year for our Penn. trip, and I had no trouble there, but just trying to plan ahead for any disappointment
