  1. Personally I'd run to Twisted Timbers but I feel like if you haven't ridden Volcano you should still go there first if it's running since it's so f*cking unreliable. and it IS right next door to a pretty good bobsled.. we really enjoyed Avalanche when we were last at KD.
  2. isn't there a hotel literally IN the parking lot there? thought we passed by one (Day's Inn maybe)?
  3. as much as I love this pic: I think the look on your face on 7 Dwarves is my favorite pic from this part of your report .. you look so.. . . content!
  4. HAHAHA. . yep, I think that's the one. is it in the WalMart parking lot?
  5. one of my friends, who does a TON of cruising, went in Jan on the "Star Trek" cruise. He had invited me along, and it was really inexpensive too (guess they were having issues filling both sailings, since the rooms were REALLY cheap for a 5 day cruise featuring tons of Star Trek cast members, and lots of themed activities). Anyways, I couldn't join him since I didn't have the time off, and it was sailing out of Florida and he asked if I wanted to join like 5 days prior to cruising. the point of my story here? he was concerned about going, since he's NOT a Star Trek fan at all, and was just grabbing it as a cheap cruise, but he was concerned he'd be miserable. he not only was NOT miserable, he had so much fun (terming it among the best cruises he's ever taken) that he has already booked full cost passage for the 2019 Star Trek Cruise. The pics he shared during the "red shirt" parties, hanging out with cast members, the Q&A's. .he said he didn't do his regular cruise stuff, since he was having such a ball with the Trek group. so.. long story short? don't judge it without experiencing it. you might enjoy it. --> He's made his Trek Cruise post public, so if there's interest, I'll ask him if I can link to his pictures here. . he took over 300.
  6. Right there with you. when we visited a few years back? the closest we would come to "camping" was to stay at the Comfort Inn, that was in the Walmart parking lot in the town about 15 minutes away. That's as "nature" as We're willing to get but at the end of the day, you're at Knoebel's.. and the cabin/tent/comfort inn is just a place to sleep
  7. I don't know you, but I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you. Congrats on coming out, and very happy that it went so well. you are not going to believe the difference that just saying it out loud makes.
  8. really interesting. (in that video, it's topped off, but it's still not a complete circuit. . they still need to attach the end of the ride to the bottom of the lift hill) he's got a lot of cool stuff on his FB page, that I am gonna check out now. thanks for sharing!
  9. nothing I've heard, but the park is closed for another 3 weeks. Opening weekend is Feb 24, then open weekends, Fri/Sat/Sun (other than whole week of Spring Break) until May 21.
  10. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, but this looks like a fun time. and since it's Disney, you KNOW it's gonna be "done right"
  11. my weight this morning, was exactly the same as last week: 192.4 lbs. trying not to get discouraged, because i maintained. . but after two weeks of losing ~3.5 lbs each time, I'm at a loss for why I didn't drop anything. I mean, yeah, I had a really really rich Anniversary meal a week ago (Last Sat), and I did have Sushi and Indian food (chicken kabob and veggies) during the week, so maybe the Rice/sodium are causing me to retain water? but it's frustrating as I exercised an hour *every day* over the past week so yeah, trying not to be discouraged, but I wish I had gone down even 1lb in the past week. we're going to the movies and out to dinner later, but at least I did an hour walk already this morning.
  12. as to Rebel Yell. . . to bad they didn't just keep the name and paint it black and add studs. an easy re-theme
  13. While not a fan of "Apple Zapple" as a name, I think I understand what they are going for. since it's right across from Twisted Timbers, they are trying to position the mouse as an alternative for those too small to ride TT. Hence positioning as a family coaster. know who will LOVE that name, "Apple Zapple"? little kids. little kids love rhyming (it's something I learned from my background in advertising. . .that's why there tends to be rhyming in toy commericals. so yeah. . . "Apple Zapple" is not targeted at *me*. . so it doesn't matter if I like the name or not. tho, really. . ..can't understand why they didn't go with something like "Apple Twister" as a name, since it IS right across from TT. since they are considering that area part of Candy Apple Grove too, slightly surprised they didn't rename Windseeker too. . . tho "Granny Smith Gondolas" isn't really a great name either
  14. wow.. wonderful pictures, and brought back a crapton of memories for me. . as when I was much younger, one of the multiple trips to Mexico my family took was: Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Guanajuato. we stayed in a resort in Guadalajara, but I clearly remember touring the city on a couple of days, and several of your pics are things I saw, and didn't recall until I saw you pic (and my brain went. . that looks familiar!). thanks so much for sharing. Starting off my Friday with some great happy memories
  15. can't wait to see your report! I'm a little surprised you didn't do EPCOT, since the kiddos would likely have loved Nemo.. . but I'm sure they enjoyed lots of the animals at AK. looking forwards to the pics!
  16. It's black. awww . . . so just screen resolution on my side. they would look good blue tho!
  17. is it just the resolution on my screen, or is that a navy blue Club TPR shirt? if yes. . . hmmm. . . the one I have is black (in Texas!!!). . .might be time to get a blue one. (oh, and great interview, gets those tips out there for those who don't bother reading your fantastic advice right here on the TPR message boards -- Animal Kingdom thread, or the "we're finally going to Disney World" threads )
  18. Honestly, the "Texas Barbque" was not up to snuff. . . the BBQ at the place by the Marina (that we did the next day was a better brisket). . . but the other versions of BBQ were all pretty great.
  19. oh. you didn't share the "full effect" of this United States Voter. . whom I'm sure cared about the issues he was Klassy. . . . why even bother wearing a shirt if that's all it's going to cover? (and right after this pic was taken, Park Mgmt asked him to move away from the tables, and go to an actual smoking area).
  20. more pics from Brews & BBQ from June 2017 (I was at Coastermania! with Bill, and we did this on Sat)
  21. My late Mother, in front of Matterhorn Skyride
  22. glad to have you! it's good to have an "end date" to help drive too.. . so that's why I decided before parks open (tho it's early March here in Texas for SFFT and SFoT). my challenge is not only to get back to my goal .. or at least near it at 180lbs. . but to maintain that. for the moment, I'm still walking every day for at least an hour, but in Feb (so in 2 days), I'll ease off a bit, and go back to every other day. controlling the eating has been the bigger challenge thus far, but i'm forcing myself to make time to get the exercise in! And even when nasty, I've been getting out and doing my walk, even if it means bundling up in multiple layers or walking with an umbrella. luckily, I'm just a light social drinker, so I don't have the 'beer' issue
  23. Congrats on the weight loss, and maintaining. personally, I woudln't do the fat burning injection option, but glad to see that helped for you, and that you changed your eating habits to try to do healthier I eat a lot of fruit/veggies too. . trying to get my metabolism kick started again. once Jan ends, I'll go back to walking every other day, instead of every day. . . . I only need to drop ~15 lbs to be back to the weight I want to maintain.
  24. That's awesome! Congrats on the weight loss!! thanks! I've actually lost a little more since then here I am at a performance art show the other night (that's Rebecca Havermeyer, the opening act of the show, with me). . at -58lbs. Haven't had a chance to see Rebecca but have had the pleasure of seeing Christeene several times! since she's local.. see her around town (in both incarnations) quite a bit. some of Christeene's songs are really good.. tho the live performances are. . . . .disturbing . . LOL
