  1. note.. Texas is BIG. from San Antonio to Dallas is gonna be 5 1/2 hours.. and that's IF there's no traffic or construction. .and that's Highly unlikely. Are you flying BACK from Dallas/FW? or from SA.. if you have to drive back to SA for the flight, it's gonna be brutal. what I'd do, if I were able to extend to 5 days: fly into SA, do SFFT day 2: Sea World - begin drive to Dallas.. maybe spend night in Austin to check out 6th street/entertainment district. day 3: SFoT day 4: Dallas to Houston, hit up Kemah Boardwalk, Galveston Pleasure Pier day 5: drive back to SA (from Houston only 3 1/2 hours or so), and stop at ZDT on way back into SA. just what I would do.. big triangle. but it depends on where your flight is from, and how much time you have.
  2. stuck with my exercise every day since last week, and this morning weighed in at: 190.2 lbs. . so a loss of 2.2 lbs since last week (and over total 2 weeks). so what? I'll take it. of course, after I weighed myself, went to see "Thor: Ragnarok" at discount theater (liked it but has "tone" issues, and is not near as cute or funny as it thinks it is), and then met up with friends at Pinballz to play pinball, skeeball, and all kinds of games. unfortunately, they have a great bar in the center of the location we went to with *really* good food, so I ended up ordering (after not eating anything all day but banana and some cantaloupe), Pepperoni roll appetizer, cheese fries (with guac/sour cream), and Texas burger (BBQ sauce, onion rings on it, and a side of tater tots). now I DID: 1) only eat 1/2 the burger (cut it in half right away) 2) only eat 2 of the 4 pepperoni rolls 3) only snack on the cheese fries and took remaining food home for lunch tomorrow AND 4) did a 47 minute walk in the cold, nasty, weather when I got home. . . tho I'm sure that walk didn't even make a dent in the calorie intake, but at least I DID a walk. so I guess I'll count the above as a win, even tho I know the upcoming week is gonna be rough with Valentine's Day and a box of chocolate coming on Wed all in all? I'm down ~9 lbs since 1/13/18 weight of 198.8
  3. it's a HELL of a lot of fun, but be warned, you might want to wear earplugs if you have them = that horn is LOUD. check it out ~55 seconds into this clip (and yeah, I hate that it's filmed vertical too). [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  4. was waiting for this one, but no one picked it up, so I'll bite the bullet:
  5. welcome to the string. I purposely called it "weight Management" rather than "weight loss" or "diet" thread, as I didn't want it to just have input from those that wanted to lose weight. Maintaining a healthy weight is hard to do (whether one needs to lose OR gain weight to be at a healthy weight), and everyone can always use encouragement I'm still doing my hour + walk every day (today I did 30 minutes on treadmill at work, then 50 minute walk when I got home). . but soon - likely in the next week, I'll cut back to every other day. so don't be disappointed in yourself if you don't go to the gym EVERY day. . the US recommendation I have heard is 2 1/2 hours of hard exercise (raising one's heartrate for extended periods) per week. So that's a 1/2 hour 5 times a week. So I'm happy I'm getting more than that, and still will be if I cut back to every other day.
  6. Yak and Yeti we STILL talk about that restaurant years after we visited Animal Kingdom. outside of Epcot, it's our favorite property restaurant (tho we loved the theming, if not the food, and Mom's and Sci-Fi Drive In over at Hollywood Studios)
  7. isn't the Terrace restaurant the Serengetti Overlook? if so, it was simply re-named/re-themed and is open both on 2nd floor (pub/fast food) and 3rd (sit down service/buffet). we ate there when we went in mid 2016 and loved it.
  8. 1. Tighten the seat belt as much as possible 2. Leave the bar one or two clicks above where it would touch your theighs and then jam your hands under the bar, this is to prevent it from going down a click during the ride and stapling you. 3. Avoid the third row of each car, this is the wheel seat and is extremely rough. IMO the best seats are car 6 row 1 or car 6 row 2. If you want to try the "ejector seat" (car 1 row 3) then do so just remember its going to be a bumpy ride! yep.. pretty much this. . tho I'd say seat belt should be a little more on your upper thighs, then right at your waist. as to the #2, if you have the seat belt tight, it won't matter about the lap bar, since you won't be getting jerked out of the seat, then roughly back down if you have the belt super tight. Magnum is a LOT of fun if you ride with the car, instead of being bucked out of it on every hill and violently jerked back down with each drop. tho it's fun without the trick too.. but can really tweak your back (in particular the drop in the tunnel.. . .still gets me every time!)
  9. oh boy. . Bill and I *hated* (and I mean HATED) it. one and done, and it messed both of us up for a while after. rough, rough, rough, and no, we were not on a wheel seat. You just need to know where to ride. Only rows 1 or 2 for me. sorry, but one shouldn't need instructions on how to ride a roller-coaster. Every seat should be, at the very least, a non-painful experience. and yes, I say that even with knowledge that if you do the "Magnum trick" you get a great ride as opposed to a bad to so-so one.
  10. There is nothing special about the Kennywood Whip, but the Kangaroo, that's a must ride! and don't skip the Bayern Kurve (although some think it is too intense) yep. . but I recommended Kangaroo, Bayern Kurve, the coasters (other than Exterminator), and the nutso program on Paratrooper in my 1st post to him telling him to stop by "for a quick vist" I only added the above if they are able to visit for more than a few hours
  11. that's awesome! it was great meeting you last year, as brief as the interaction was!
  12. oh boy. . Bill and I *hated* (and I mean HATED) it. one and done, and it messed both of us up for a while after. rough, rough, rough, and no, we were not on a wheel seat.
  13. ^ wow.. . so that took out most stuff for the kids too old for Sesame Street area, but not big enough for the coasters. I guess the Animals are still left, but I can see this being disappointing for families with young-ish kiddos visiting the park.
  14. you should do Cheetah Hunt, Cobra's Curse, and Montu (as it's right there, and is the best suspended coaster I've ever been on). .then Train to Pantopia station for Falcon's Fury, Kumba (one of the stars of BGT), Scorpion. Then you can train it to Shiekra.
  15. Well Bert... you did it. I mentioned to Emily that maybe we should also hit KW while in Pittsburgh as opposed to later in the summer. She's all for it. glad to hear it. . if you stay for more than a few hours, also hit up Exterminator, the Whip (and most everything in "old Kennywood") plus Noah's Ark . . Ghostwood Estates, turtle (if you've never been on this classic. . it's a great break in the day and a throwback ride), and of course, re-rides on JackRabbit. .that double down is amazing. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  16. Here's my trip report from Central Florida when we went in 2016 (also in July). we didn't do Disney either (or Universal), but we DID do BGT (multiple days), SWO, Weeki Wachi mermaids, and other fun stuff by base camping out of Tampa. maybe some of this will help http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1720899#p1720899
  17. the person there on the day we were there gave us a lot of interesting information. maybe you just caught a fill in trainer?
  18. LOL> . . yeah, but at the end of the day, Bald Eagles!
  19. That's what Knoebels does best! Your plan sounds good. The chairlift is something special, goes up the mountain and has great views of the Appalachians. It's beautiful. But yeah, walking around, taking your time, enjoying the place--that's what it's about. Stop in the museums for a bit, and make sure you also ride Black Diamond, the dark ride/coaster hybrid in the back corner of the park. It's weird and very fun. and just behind it is the Bald Eagle enclosure. . you can listen to a talk about them and watch them feed them.
  20. I would add to your "MUST DO TO EXPERIENCE KNOEBEL'S" -- play at least 1 game of Fascination. (and the Cheese on a Stick, the Perogies, and a shake from the Old Mill are my food must do's)
  21. that's a shame, as I enjoyed the "history of Kennywood" set up that was there last time, and the setting along the river was so lovely. but I could see it would be easy to retheme with cutouts along the "turn around" and thruout the track. How much of Thomas is going into the kid's section? I remember that being quite large, and over near that area. . so I'd guess the whole area will become Thomas-town, and just extend out to the Train?
  22. lovely park, and it's one I've not heard of. thanks for sharing the pictures!
  23. hmm. . the release notes a new location for Laffin' Sal. isn't she in front of the Train Station? (or the slot cars)? wonder if one of those is shutting down?. . . or MAYBE (and more likely), they are rethemeing the train to be Thomas?
  24. you should spend more time at Knoebel's. . . but I'm wondering why you aren't swinging by Kennywood while you are in Pittsburgh? even a "quick" stop for spins on Jackrabbit, Racer, Thunderbolt, Phantom, Bayern Curve, Black Widow, Kangaroo, and the nuts Paratrooper program (ok, and Skyrocket on the way out). . make the trip to Kennywood worth it.
  25. I'm gonna start calling it: MeRven Metal Revenge
