  1. The Zierer High Energy looks quite impressive but from riding the one on the german carnivals I say this can be called "family friendly" - not many inversions during the ride. But maybe Skyline Park puts it on a fiercer program....
  2. Putin looks like: "All people with complaints will be eaten alive" But nice to see russia gets a new state-of-the-art park.
  3. Cool - makes a nice "coaster travel triangle" with Holiday Park and Europa Park....
  4. DeEfteling still has a ton of darkrides and is even adding more. De Vliegende Hollander combines a darkride with a watercoaster...
  5. Maybe Skyline Park aquired this used B&M sold by http://www.fab.lu/index.php?id=74&L=2&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=268&tx_ttnews[backPid]=73&cHash=37395e80e5 FAB Luxemburg??? Edit: Link isnt working with URL-function due to "[]" inside the URL...
  6. Olympia Looping - 3 times today...
  7. Well looks like the small brother of the BoosterMaxx by Fabbri....
  8. @awclark With its current awful OTSRs Revolution isnt really a good coaster anymore. I love Schwarzkopf coasters - but did this only once as its now the worst Schwarzkopf I've ever ridden. And I dont know any other bad Schwarzkopf coasters....
  9. If they have to copy a coaster cant they copy a good one??? But hey: They lately bought a B&M...
  10. For a park like SFMM a log flume is a must as I guess it can get really hot there. Plus its always a big fun to do with "all" friends and family. I rode Log Jammer this spring and it was tops!
  11. A short first-day fix of Winterdom Before my first nightshift I did a short fix mostly to get my first of hopefully many rides on Olympia Looping in the comming four weeks. Walking up to the circular midway from the subway-station St. Pauli you see the ferris wheel. View down the nightly midway towards the world-best looper. Rotor showing its new sparkling LEDs. Turning something good into something even better by adding a counterweight. Break-Dancer with a cow-themed gondola on the right - I guess this a last-minute replacement for a malfunctioning one... But now for the reason I'm here tonight... Olympia so kicks again...and again...and again....did three rides this time... No better loops than Schwarzkopf loops! Up it goes... Full view from the slightly elevated Dancer plattform. Break Dancers at night are always spectacular to watch. Waiting for my turn... Colorful Shaker. This music-express featured red covers for kissing - therefore Lovedream - and a helluva soundsystem. One of three bumper-cars on the DOM. This one with stobe-lights and lasers. Frisbee was crowded this night - and as my time was running out I had to skip it for now. View over the fairground from the Flying Carpet. My second Weber carpet this year. Its quite dark up there - and the ride runs on an intense program. Have your sixpack ready... On the way out to work the mad house Lach-Freu-Haus. Will go with friends and much of time on Tuesday - also on the other half of the carnival...
  12. €2 for an Eurofighter ride is quite a bargain....I'm still hoping to see a smaller of these as a portable ride....
  13. Thanks for this great TR! A great ride selection on this fair - with many cool Huss and Technical Park rides....
  14. Going to the DOM before nightshift tonight to ride the Olympia Looping!
  15. Luckily I was there in mid-september on a friday with no wait for Goliath... But still you had to wait for El Condor - poor unkowing poeple...

  17. Here in germany there're carnivals and Christmas-markets with rides up to christmas - and the spring carnivals start early march - so you can do some carnival-hopping. In 2013 I'll go to Orlando in late-Jan, early-Feb to do Disney, Universal and Busch... An interesting fact: Last year the Teststrecke - former Laser, Schwarzkopf double-loop - was at the christmas-market in Berlin at the Alexanderplatz and weather was freezing. They've a TÜV-permission for freezing temperatures operation but the ride-attendents had to free the track from freshly fallen snow each morning....
  18. @Gnome I probably hit the only day in the year with showers and intense gusts so the rides on Stratosphere were closed. I hit the Circus, Circus instead and it still had this James Bond "Diamonds are Forever" feeling. But the Arrow was headbanging - at least it was my chance to do the american Inverter.... I quite liked all Cirque De Soleil shows so far and even the price is on the top end I mostly pay for a place in the first rows.... @Coasterfreak11: Well you cant have Sex in Vegas - at least not in a legal european kind of way....
  19. I missed the Sahara for a week or two with missing Speed the worst point of it. I stayed at the Planet Hollywood - the rooms were clean, spaceous and the non-smkoing floor was a non-smoking floor. Personally I thought the rooms are too dark - you had to have lights on even by day. But who cares - I'm not a gambler but on the last night turned USD 25 into USD 450 in their casino... Now they're only two sub-par coasters left in Vegas....for me the best thin in Vegas was "O" at Bellagio...
  20. Some wonderful b&w historic DOM pictures covering from 1900 to 1980 - including seldom seen pics of wooden portable coasters and the Schwarzkopf Silverarrow from the local TV station NDR In the corresponding german article showmen "Uncle Richters" - on the DOM for over 60 years - muses that the Olympia Looping would cost new today around 40 million Euros...
  21. I think new trains and also brakes will pop up sooner or later on more Schwarzkopf loopers - most of these are around 30 years old now and while the tracks will likely hold another 100 years the mechanics of trains and brakes are reaching their lifetime. On the other hand - I was about a link to a refurbished Schwarzkopf train from the Gerstlauer website - but its no longer listed. So I guess it was sold in no time....
  22. The mother of all double-loops - double corkscrews. A dubious achievement in a continueous headbanging kind of way....
  23. @gisco Yes Mr. Schwarzkopf was always accurate! This ride was mostly called Giant-Octopus - but he pointed out that his ride has only 5 arms so he called them "Monster". Monster 1 had 5 arms with 4 fixed gondolas - Monster 2 had 5 arms with 4 spinning gondolas - and finally the Monster 3 had 5 arms with 5 spinning gondolas. Even if the last ones were built in the early 80s its a popular and signature ride on german carnivals and european parks. As far as I know two were refitted the last 10 years: This one - sadly somehow wrong - and another was made into an inverted called "Parkour". It was my first "adult" ride when I was a kid and still ride them werever available.... There was also a variant by Schwarzkopf themselves called "Orbiter" which was quite cool but sadly there's only one remaining in a park in france I believe.
  24. The Winterdom in Hamburg will start on friday this week featuring the marvellous Olympia-Looping. Sadly I'm on nightshift on Fri/Sat/Sun so don't know if I'll make it before monday as weather forecasts looks fine.... For now a link to some construction pics from a local St. Pauli news website: Stadtteilreporter 10 workers were busy for seven days to errect the looper - well lets see if I can ride it 7 days.... Edit: Link to official website Edit: Some more construction pics: Kirmesforum
