Bremen Carnival: Freimarkt 2013
simon8899 replied to simon8899's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^You can get rum at many places on the carnival and various escort services are not illegal in Germany... Part 2 - More Freimarkt pictures Spending another evening at Freimarkt last weekend. It was the last warm day this year and the carnival was packed. For example we had a 15 minute line afet payment at the logflume - the same was true for Wild Mouse XXL - and at most rides like the Transformer or Octopussy had frantic turnovers that are normally reserved for the Break Dancer. If you were not able to jump onto the stopping plattform without falling you had no chance getting a seat. Olympia Looping running fine this day. They started with two trains and upped later. View over the whole fairground from the ferris wheel Bigger than at some smaller parks... Frisbee soarin high Hairtime on the TopSpin Music Express in full colors Log Flume still busy after dark Schwarzkopf Monster "Octopussy" is one my fav flats around Hit it four times this night No carnival without bumper cars As said: Fairground was packed Colorful Break Dancer TopSpin filled to capacity Finally arrived at the beer tent Huss Flipper "Playball" looking great at night Transformer was packed after dark. More pics from my new HDR camera coming tomorrow -

^Lately Zamperla has come up with some cool rides like the Air Race - lets see if this project comes to happen. -
Nürburgring launched coaster

^Even if the TÜV has cleared the ride for 105 mph the operator did not operate it that fast. Maybe they start with a lower speed and will see after some time how the compressed air launch system will do. As said it exploded some times - US engineering... -

^I would be if a) Formula Rossa had not been built in between and b) the compressed air system would not blow up at top speed.... But at least it is running now. -
Always great to see your pics. On battling fatigue on evening shows: Had the same in Vegas and decided this spring at WDW to not do shows in the evening. Waking up at 7am so to be there at park opening at 9am, then all day on foot an evening show is IMO just too much to tackle. I mostly fell sound asleep after 15 minutes back in my hotel in front of the TV after less than 15 minutes shortly after 9pm...

North Carolina State Fair Ride Accident
simon8899 replied to DJeXeL's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here portable carnival rides are said to be more secure than permanent rides as they get an inspection every time it gets built. Permanent rides get only one inspection per year. In the 80s we had one showmen - who later fled law enforcement to south america - who ran his crane into an operating Enterprise and killed several riders. But that is the only ruthless showmen in Germany I can remember. -

North Carolina State Fair Ride Accident

^^Thats why I like our mandatory tests by TÜV engineers after each assembly of a carnival ride. Likely the special spare parts were declared "too exepensive". Local police and/or civil servants simply do not have the expertise to do checks on rides. Even our TÜV has a special group for this assignements called "Fliegende Bauten" who do only check carnival rides. Of course accidents can still happen but vital parts that are missing would have come up. I would also charge the person who tested and cleared that ride. -

^^/^Agreed. Thge only light headbangs on a B&M were some older sitdown or floorless riding the corkscrews. But anyone complaining about that should ride and compare it to a 20+ year old Verkoma looper... -
Engine looking great. Lets see how the passenger cars will look like. A hard compromise between being true to the movie - having replicas of old coaches with 6-passenger compartments - or high capacity like at the Disney parks... Also interesting if they will theme the outside of the railway. A ride around back- and parking-lots does not sound very "Harry Potter"-ish. EDIT: Wouldn't it be cool if the windows of the cars are in fact screens showing English landscape plus effects from the movies like dragons or something?

North Carolina State Fair Ride Accident
simon8899 replied to DJeXeL's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This sounds bad. As multiple restraints became unlocked IMO rules out mechanical fault. Knowing that at a Huss TopSpin or Moser Top Star Tour you cannot unlock the restraints while the ride is operating - not even from the operators stand. A ride attendant has to engage/disengage the restraints on the gondola itself. So during ride operation that switch is not reachable. Luckily no one was killed. -

Looks like they are nicely pushing on. How is Gothenburg in winter obstacles that could stop the construction like heaps of snow? We had some here in Germany in the last years - maybe also a reason why Heide-Park started bringing up their new coaster so early. -
107 faaaaaast flips on a Topspin !
simon8899 replied to GeorgeT's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This was done at Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen. A group of enthusiasts asked for a ride with many spins - the operator switched to manual and delivered. On carnivals you normally have two 7-8x spins which I think are no problem. At 100+ spins I would likely tend toward a light headache but not toward throwing up. -
Whatever trains they will choose I guess they will have some kind of OTSRs or shoulder-clamps as some support beams are really close above your head - like it is also with Olympia.

^Skyline Park can be easily reached from Munich by local train - you can get it while visiting Oktoberfest
-
Either refurbish the trains or get new ones like Teststrecke - which are still far better trains than those on Revolution.

OH MY GOD!!! I got a a message last night over Youtube that this is happening and discarded it as spam. Having this back will be like christmas and birthday in one day. But lets wait if this comes to open - still some time until 2016...

Always good to see PhotoTRs from parks far out - Thanks! Fantasilandia looks goods with a decent flat collection. And the water at the boat dark ride looks cleaner than most of what I have seen from China. If one ever goes there one has to check if one can bring sandwiches and drinks along into the park to avoid those lines...

I liked the Invertigo once located at Sommerland Syd - unlike the SLCs it had no headbanging at all, was in fact a fun coaster. As they already have a classic Schwarzkopf this might become interesting for a short trip together with Gardaland...
