NOOOOO I LOVED Speed: The Ride! I rode it back in 2007, and it was great! I can't stand to see another Premier ride abandoned! Hopefully when I go to Vegas in 2 weeks, I can hit it up one last time. That ride, along with the rest of the NASCAR Cafe, is a well-themed area and it'd be a shame to see it go...

Worst Coaster Experience

I remember the last time I rode The Chiller (Which was about a week before it closed permantely), they launched us, and the train didn't have enough speed and we rolled back. They went out to the launch track, and it turned out that the LIM fins weren't deployed properly. So we're all set, and they launch it again. This time, we BARELY MISS stalling in the cobra roll, and this time roll back only so far, this time sitting in the observatory section of the ride. It took 20 MINUTES for the employees to finally get the train back to the station, and then we were launched AGAIN...This time, we actually got through. The ride was not worth it...It felt empty without the zero-G-roll... -
Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread

And I thought NJ was getting horrible weather! This is insane! I hope that no one dies in this disaster, and that hopefully damage will be contained... -
^^^Damn, that's some eerie stuff. I read about a year ago that in total, Magic Mountain has had 108 complaints of injury. Definetly a big number. Most them apparently come from Goliath. No surprise, considering every complaint has to do with grayouts and blackouts, as well as tunnel vision. I'd love to hear more. It's strangely eerie to hear about lethal accidents at amusement parks...

It has to do with the fact that the general public down here in the NJ-PA area goes NUTS for new rides. Whether it be brand new or 10 years old, the un-knowledgable GP will believe in anything. Call it new, and they'll rush to it. Posessed/VooDoo was so popular because of the fact that no one had seen that kind of coaster in Dorney. When you bring something new there, people will come. Same case with Demon Drop. People heard about it, and rode it with understanding that it was "new". Of course, that is somewhat the case. It also has to do with the fact that Dorney Park isn't exactly an A-list park for CF. Dorney usually is placed among parks like King's Island or Carowinds. The parks that recieve big things every 2-3 years. This being the case, Dorney doesn't exactly get luxorious traits and get "brand-new coasters" very often. We were pretty damn lucky to get the monsters known as Talon and Hydra in only a 3-year span. I'm sure Invertigo will be treated the same by the GP, as something "brand new" and "never seen before" in this end of the US. If I had to guess, Dorney would probably go with re-theming, re-painting and re-naming of Invertigo. Perhaps repaint it black and blue and call it "Black Hole"?

Scary stuff happens at theme parks alot. Even now, coasters still have scary stuff like that happen. I remember the accident where that security guard was hit by Scream a few years ago and was killed. I still wonder how you get hit by a floorless coaster without standing on the tracks or throwing your head right in front of the train...

Your Dream Park

Wow, only 5 coasters? 1. Maverick 2. El Toro 3. Storm Runner 4. Steel Force 5. Phoenix I dunno what to call it..."Speed Land"? Considering I have 2 coasters in there that run as a propulsion/LSM coaster, with the rest being incredibly fast as well... -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Sir Coaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I plan on finally hitting up Cedar Point this year after not being there for 4 years. May 2007, the opening day of Maverick. I stood through 2 hours of rain for Maverick, and I LOVED it. That whole day kicked a**. The only downside was missing out on TTD because of wind... I swear, this year I'm getting on both TTD and KK... I'll be sure to hit up Windseeker. Hell, maybe I'll even get a few rides on Mean Streak, seeing as the old grandpa never has a line... -
^^Just to clarify, Laser wasn't removed because of Posessed taking up space. Laser was removed...For a number of reasons: 1. Diminished popularity 2. Inconvenient placement 3. The area where it was placed has started to become a ghost town the last few years There's much more, but VooDoo (Posessed) has nothing to do with why Laser was moved.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Sir Coaster replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I heard a rumor a while back in December 2010 that Disaster Transport was going to open spiractically in 2011, because apparently they're going to try and improve the theming aspects... -

Also: The last few rides I've had on Disaster Transport, the ride was just HORRID. The thing shuffles along the track, and really doesn't run as well as it used to. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Sir Coaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Regarding SOB, I have a feeling that if the Texas Giant's re-track works out incredibly positive, Cedar Fair might consider the re-track option for SOB in the 2011 off-season. -

Worst Coaster Experience
Sir Coaster replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, let's see.... My last ride in 2004 on Viper at Great Adventure was HORRID. Incredibly bad jackhammering, headbanging was so incredible, I thought I would get off the ride with my brains turned into a milkshake... Manhattan Express was horrid the second time I rode it. OTSR, 'nuff said. I don't get the hate for Mean Streak. I've been on it a few times, and sure it's dull, but I've never been insanely beat up on it. Same goes for Predator at Hersheypark. That thing was real smooth when I went on it. Thunderhawk...That is the only Woodie I've ever gone on where I felt like I was getting off injured. The damn thing had nice airtime, but so much that I was sent flying into my uncle. My shoulder hurt for the rest of the day. My first ride on GASM was nightmarish. The train before actually got stuck in the brake run, which lead to downtime. Then, I was given SOME FREAKING RIDE...Headbanging, jackhammering, and a 2-week long headache ensued... Ironically, the more times I rode it, it actually got smoother. -
What is your favorite Roller Coaster?

I may have ridden it only once, but MAN it was wild! -
How much Faster/Taller can we get?
Sir Coaster replied to Sir Coaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don't get me wrong, I actually HATE Kingda Ka. It's my home coaster, but I like TTD much more (Lapbars instead of OTSRs, anyone? ). My point is, the first month or so, everyone was claiming that FR didn't hit 149 mph. Apparently, this is wrong... Sorry about that. GP is playing tricks on me. And to be fair, I WANTED Ring Racer to break the record back in '08. That was quite a disappoint, huh? -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Sir Coaster replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Congrats, you made a kid cry. Please, the kid had a mustache, and was talking like he was 20 and knew everything. Still, he certaintly was annoying. He claimed he "knew a guy in Cedar Point", and said that Kingda Ka was shipped from GAdv and repainted... ...Can somone say "IDIOT"? -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I have ANOTHER gem... I was waiting in line back in 2004 on Viper at GAdv (The same day I asked an attendee for a chiropractor after the ride ), and while on line, I heard this guy who looked to be in his 30s say: "Oh, so this is Ultra Twister! I guess they let its paint job rust, and then changed the name!....Cool!" Exact words, no lie. Everyone literally stared at him in disbelief. I also got into a 10 minute argument with a 12-year old kid on line for Maverick on its first operating day about how TTD was NOT Kingda Ka repainted... -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Sir Coaster replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Got a classic one back in 2008. I was waiting in line for The Dark Knight at Great Adventure during its first month or two of operation. My friend and I were just talking about the coaster in line outside: Me: Can't wait to ride! Friend: So, is this like Batman? Me: No, it's like one of those Wild Mouses, it's just indoors with theming. Random person in front of us: I heard this does, like, 20 loops! My friend and I just sat silent for the rest of the time. We were completely baffled by the stupidity of that statment, ESPECIALLY when I just said it was a Wild Mouse coaster. I understand that it's indoors, but do you THINK it would loop if it was indoors? Also, just yesterday, my same friend got into this conversation with me: Me: I didn't really like The Dark Knight. Too tame. Friend: Yeah, it was basically just like the Mouse Trap roller coaster... I...I couldn't figure out what to say... -
I love Boomerang rides. I'm lucky enough to have ridden the smoother ones. Sea Serpent at Morey's, for example. That one is a BIG accomplishment for Vekoma. It's INCREDIBLY smooth, doesn't shuffle, and is a wonderful experience if you want a Boomerang Vekoma that ISN'T rough. As for Invertigo, I do hope it runs well. With Dorney's ride staff, there's really only been one ride that has troubled Dorney Park, and that's Demon Drop. But hey, I'm sure a new coaster will not only be refreshing, but definetly help Dorney gain more popularity.
