  1. One thing I'll mention that might lead to the reason there is a harness instead of a lap bar is (once again) that vertical spike. I've ridden all three several times, and the thing that scared the living shit out of me was the fact that my entire body weight was on that stupid harness!!! I looked over those renderings a little more closely and it looks like it is a lap bar with an OTSR system to hold it in place. Think (oh god here it comes) Forbidden Journey as opposed to other Kuka arms. It holds you in JUST at your waist and is not as obtrusive: vs The point I'm getting at is it could be a "lap bar" mounted like an OTSR for the sole purpose that your upper body needs something to rest on. YES I agree that a vest design attached to this would have been a much better approach, and double yes I'm sad to see this with OTSR's, but I think that this harness will hold you in by the waist instead of allowing your body to basically "fall in" to the harness like the old trains did.
  2. Georgia Cyclone absolutely destroyed me at DSB! The airtime was INSANE though, but I got off and felt like I had just been punched in the ribs. I rode Mindbender after and after that I almost passed out in the train and sat out the rest of ERT. This ride really needs topper track!
  3. That's there because some very intelligent people decided it would be a good idea to stick their upper body through the harness. Nothing ever happened of course, but that extra bar was put there to make sure nothing like that could happen again. If you have ever seen a Deja Vu harness you'd realize how large and bulky they are and how easy leaning out of them can be.
  4. Very interesting, it doesn't look as though the chassis of the train has been modified. I can't tell if the bogeys are spring loaded, it looks like the guide wheels might be, but if not I almost wonder if the recycled the chassis themselves and just redid the seating portion of the train. Then again these are just renderings, I am probably wrong, but I think new bogeys would really make a difference on this ride!
  5. 50ish mobile robotic arms with seats on the end of them sounded pretty farfetched too...
  6. ^Maybe I'll try that this time around, Firefox has been doing the same thing to me.
  7. Just played for the third time and yet again had no video =[
  8. Video feed is still down AND I got disconnected during my turn. I won't be getting in line again until this is fixed. FAIL.
  9. I went from 63rd to 358th, NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
  10. This is awful news, especially if it does to USH what it did to IOA. And I don't mean that in a good way.
  11. None of those calculations mean anything if you don't factor in how many trains are being run. The theoretical capacity numbers are much much higher than those above, the actual numbers though I'm sure are much lower.
  12. I'm a lady of the night.
  13. Just did 2,500 miles across the USA without even using cruise control once! I did 12,500 on my road trip without cruise as well! Totally unnecessary!
  14. I missed, definitely glitchy though. You had to be really careful with how much you clicked the mouse to line it all up.
  15. I'm stuck at 51 people in front of me, it hasn't changed in almost 30 minutes... EDIT: Now 25 people ahead of me, hooray!
  16. I bought THIS: Short history: This is a 1994 Mazda Miata M edition. It had some hail damage in the rear quarter panels, so the rear section of the car was replaced from a blue Miata. Basically I have to rattle-can it when I get it. Don't worry, the wheels will all match as well.
  17. I don't see this thread getting many responses. Makes me wonder where this coaster was really intended for...
  18. That answers the question I was going to ask. Is the problem with Iron Wolf the trains or the track itself becoming rough? If new trains are the solution, then I think this could be a good move for SFA (only because they haven't gotten a new coaster since 2001). Better then nothing, as a lot of people have already said. I think it's in the trains & wheels because how could the track,if properly designed & fabricated become "rough" over time on a steel coaster?Dominator for instance has become rough & has a horrid rattle but it wasn't like that in 08 when KD installed it considering the fact that,at the time it had been through 7 years of continuous operation at it's former location. Because when you send 20-ton ride vehicles several hundred thousand (or even million) times over the course of 21 years the track itself will flex. Rides are designed to "give" a little, and over time this happens. Granted better track design and supporting structure design has been prevalent, in the recent years. I do agree that proper maintenance of the trains themselves can lead to a longer lasting ride and overall better ride quality over time.
  19. I recall the old Texas Giant having square wheels and bumping at every bent in the track.
  20. I like the Craiggers.
  21. I was there, the entire day was a boarder-line riot. Do you think the booing and jeering really made the whole situation better? I don't think you understand how not only annoying but incredibly disrespectful that is. You are a guest in the park, you are a "guest in their house". Do you ever go over to someones house for dinner and boo and yell "let us eat!" at their children when the food isn't ready on time? No. Then why would booing and yelling "LET US IN" at the attendants be appropriate? This is really embarrassing to hear that someone from this forum was one of the people causing a scene. You don't know how much those people went through to get the ride running, keep the guests informed, AND do it all with a smile, all while not being able to do a single thing more. I heard the announcements, they were "just as excited to have you ride the attraction and you were excited to ride the attraction, but currently technical difficulties are preventing this" and this was followed by booing. That's just sad.
