Another day, another quick trip over to Tampa to check the progress. There has definitely been a lot accomplished in the 2 weeks since Steve and I were there. Not the greatest pictures but here they are...

Yeesh...I went to Tijuana probably 20 or so years ago while visiting family in San Diego. I will say I was extremely scared being there but didn't really know much. I just remember a smelly cab ride and being pestered by kids on the street selling Chiclets. It was not a fun day trip back then, doesn't sound like it has improved.

Today was "Team Day" for the Outback Bowl so Florida and Penn State players were there.

^ The ride ops at Shiekra have been simply awful when I've ridden this year. Slow, disinterested, constant stacking b/c of a lack of interest in getting checked trains dispatched...you name it. Compared to Griffon earlier this year when they were racing to get as many trains sent each hour...that was simply awesome!

It finally warmed up and it was a beautiful day so I took a quick drive to Tampa after work this afternoon to check the progress and get a few more photos. Not much new from the photos posted of the Figure 8 element, and really not much else new to show but here's what I could get. Enjoy. from the parking lot more dirt has been moved... taken near Rhino Rally, behind the drink/refreshment stand.

You definitely see it with no obstruction from the tram stop at the entrance, and the figure 8 tower is pretty massive as you walk past the theatre and Myombe Reserve. It's absolutely beautiful and had me very excited on Sunday!

Cheetah Hunt Roller Coaster Construction Update - December 5th, 2010 - Busch Gardens Tampa I took a quick trip over to BGT this morning to check out the construction and get some shots. It's progressing quite nicely. Definitely looking good!

They've done a lot of work widening Hwy 27 going south from I-4 so it should be a little easier to get down to the Haven but granted it's not a quick jaunt. Hopefully it's successful, it will be good for my hometown. -

^ Go back even further and re-open Circus World. That would be awesome! But too bad that area is now a gigantic shopping center.

FYI on the tour...pass members get a 10% discount. Not a lot but every little bit helps. And like Steve said, well worth the extra money. There were only 3 of us on the tour so it was pretty personal. They actually have some relatively low priced experiences as I was looking through the site. I definitely want to try some of the animal experiences in the future. Edit: an added perk of the tour - each participant is given 2 front of the line passes that can be used that day or later for any of the coasters. Our passes were good until Dec. 31 but we promptly used them for the 2 rides on Sheikra due to the horrendously slow operations.
