Driving to parks in California?
coasterdad replied to window's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It depends on your diving skills and how adventures you want to get. My wife and I did a 2 week California tour many years ago and my wife had us only going to S. Cal. stuff and when I told her we could go to Vegas too. She thought it was to far. after looking at a map we made adjustments. Did everything in S cal. and then some. Also growing up there did help getting around. -
Some of you also don't understand too is SFOT is not owned by SF corp. There is a group of investor who still own it. Also with all the hoops the park had to do to get the ride I'd say they won't take the ride down. They had to give up some land for the baseball stadium to get Texas Giant built. They almost didn't get it built as the feds. almost said that it was on wet lands.

As stated before this is a overhaul not a tear down. 10 million is the whole cost for the rehab. The 2 company's that have the submited bids are GCI and M&V. Bids for the Trains are at 2 right now but could be three if they can Talk one company into giving them a try. I just wish they would put the double up back. & one of the train company is not G trains or Intamin.

ADA rules sidelined that ride. They didn't want to spend the extra money to remodel the stations and it's kinda hard to have wheel chairs for the ride. -

coasterdad replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some one in the mid 80's did a parody of some rock songs ala Weird Al. One song was- I love roller coasters, tune of Joan Jett- I love rock and roll The others were really funny. Now I have to find that tape. someone did almost 8 song. The a couple of others were VH and Def leppard. -
Man that brings back memories. I remember going to KI and Hershey park 2 different coaster events and he was in concert for both. Well after the concerts were over he stopped over and rode with us on our evening ERT. He thought he was going to get mobbed. We just told him to just get in and enjoy the ride. He stayed for almost an hour riding.

There were many coaster that had the one speed lift but most have been change due to many factors, some are spacing issues, others are maintance issues. I remember when Texas Giant had that one speed lift and you had the little contance speed that put a kick into it. and the speed coming off the lift will affect the whole ride, speed wise that is. Also if there was any GP that complained they might have slowed it down due to insurance reasons. Have seen that before.

Bell's may be in trouble.
coasterdad replied to Shavethewhales's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know Bell Senior had bought land in Jenks, and Broken Arrow, for the fact that the fair board has told Bells they had to renew there lease a few years ago with a big cost jump. I hope Bell Jr. keep the land so he can move it. -
