Mitch Hawker 2010 poll
Hayzle replied to Skycoastin Steve's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What about Aska (SBNO for 4 years now) was it really that good or are people crying to try and get it reopened? -
Members of TPR, I was talking to a friend today about which was better Kingda Ka or Top Thrill Dragster. He said by far Top Thrill Dragster. When he said that I was confused. They seem like they would offer nearly the same ride. For this ride and other comparable rides (Tatsu/Manta, Afterburn/Alpengeist, Scream/Bizarro{SFGADV}) the ride with the better theming seems to come out on top more often than not. So I was wondering what you guys thought, does theming play a major role in how good a ride is, or does Six Flags have it right, build great rides with no theme what-so-ever?

I wonder if it will always say new texas giant on the sign or if the new part will be removed after a season or two and it returns to Texas Giant? -

That may be your best quote ever Robb I'm crying right now! Okay so I have a question, for my graduation this year, my parents want to go on a cruise, and we are looking into either this ship or oasis. Would you suggest these two boats as your favorite or should we look somewhere else? -

Yes sadly they did stoop that low even posting pictures of "evidence" online. -
I'm cautiously excited to see how six flags great adventure evolves over the next few years. It seems like there will be big changes. The removal of GASM seems to foreshadow the death of older rides. Hopefully they can better balance the park. I would love to see them install a ride like shoot the rapids at cedar point somewhere around the old excalibur areas

I just read the site and honestly I'm appalled that people who are as much as 20 years older than me could say some of the things they were saying. I'm so happy you are as cool as you are Robb. Fight the good fight! hahah -

This looks like it is going to be a very pretty coaster, but I'm not exactly excited for this. It just doesn't seem like much more than a glorified family coaster -

Hahaha hey i'm not saying i know everything here, but the whole function over form thing i disagree with because I'm going to be an industrial design major next year. Basically those are the guys who design how the product looks because that's how most people buy these days: design over function. I own an iPod and my cousin has a zune. I admit that the zune is an oveall better product, but its bulky and hard to use in my opinion. Until they simplify it for the mass market i don't think they can compete with the iPod -

The designers wanted to make a better looking/ more original phone. Also they had to cram in more stuff like the 2 camera's, faster processor etc. They had no place to put the antenna in a place where it would be blocked. Without an antenna a phone can't function. In this case they built the ride bigger, crazier faster to make it better. In the design process they realized they needed more support. So they did the only thing they could, add steel the way they did. Just like apple had to put the faulty antenna, SFOT needed to put in the ugly supports where they did, they had no other option. -

Yet much of the function comes from the form. Ex: iPod and iPhone (especially the iPhone 4 with the form forcing them to put the antenna in areas where it could be blocked out by hands.) -

Sorry to start confusion with my post but the seats do not spin, I was just saying that it looks like they could one day make a 4d coaster. And Elissa if any company could make a smooth 4D it would be B&M. Maybe they can change your thoughts on the 4D concept -

the trains just made this ride way more interesting. Funny thing is the trains look like they are only minor modifications away from being 4d seats. Maybe the rumors were true after all? -

I think its amazing how Hersheypark has crammed all these rides in. The are miracle workers if they can plan a 200 foot plus coaster on that plot of land that isn't a dive machine!
