  1. All of these Knoebels answers are making me cringe. Amusement park I'd vote Cedar Point and theme park I'd vote Dollywood. Sorry Orlando.
  2. ^ I doubt the layout would be changed. However, I could see some tunnels being added just for something 'new'. Being such an old fairly small ride, I wouldn't want to see too much money being spent on it.
  3. https://www.kingsdominion.com/contact-us Your best bet is to just do the general 'contact us' and address it to her. Surprisingly, Kings Dominion does a nice job at passing along the emails to whoever you're trying to contact. It could take up to 2 weeks for a response though. I wish Pat Jones had a Twitter, she'd be a good park GM to have one - great personality and strong love for the park.
  4. I haven't been following 2016 speculation too much, but if Cedar Point's general manager, Jason McClure, is telling the truth then a Rougarou-like conversion is going to happen. Vortex to become floorless and get paint/new name? http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20150614/NEWS/306149989/surging-cedar-fair-isnt-just-enjoying-the-ride?X-IgnoreUserAgent=1
  5. I hope you enjoy your trip. After you ride Volcano first (like you said, a must), I'd recommend riding Intimidator 305 just in case it goes down that day (although I doubt it will). Intimidator 305 is obviously the standout of the park and it would be a shame to miss out on it because you skipped it earlier in the day.
  6. ^ California's Great America says hello.
  7. I actually believe this was a very smart move by Cedar Fair. The problem I had with the Paramount Parks was that the theming essentially became 'dated' and irrelevant very quickly since they were theming rides off of not blockbuster hits or movies with no sequels. However, I'm not a fan of many of the renames Cedar Fair did in 2007... Drop Tower? Can't get much more pathetic than that. It makes me wish Ouimet was around then because I'd doubt those names would have been picked.
  8. ^ What will happen when Cedar Point listens to the GP and builds a coaster taller than 500'. On a different note, three weeks after the Thunder Road announcement and it seems like the #SaveThunderRoad campaign is calming down. I'm curious what park execs thought of the outcry (even though it was to be expected).
  9. Great photos and I'm glad to hear 305 lived up to the hype for you! Judging from the midways in your photos, it looks like you went on a great day with not too many people.
  10. A hyper is nothing but airtime hills which would be completely opposite from Intimidator 305's twisty-esque layout... However, I still do not see the park installing one.
  11. No they did not. Expect an announcement late August - early September. You won't hear any official word before that unless it's something large then expect minimal teasing.
  12. I think Blue Streak is the hidden jewel at Cedar Point - I really love it! Then again its layout similar to my obsession of the racing trio (Rebel Yell, Racer, Thunder Road).
  13. They might as well put a polar coaster on the Eiffel Tower that then dives under Interstate 95 too with the imagination you all are having...
  14. Kings Dominion re-did their Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular without lights wrapped on trees and it is 10 X better and much more professional looking now. Hopefully, WOF will do the same eventually.
  15. ^ The ride only has 2 trains and could not run with 3 trains. The ride's capacity is fine, it's just the most popular ride in the park, even 17 years later and with Intimidator 305 next door.
  16. I must mention though, ever since they redid the queue and loading process last season on Volcano, the line does move faster and is a heck of a lot less claustrophobic. With the whole queue above the gift shop full it only takes about 45-50 mins and even if the line is pouring out to the midway it is less than a 90 minute wait. Yes, this is long for KD standards, but when comparing to CP it's nothing!
  17. It has been that way since the schedule was released. The park has annually been closed for a company's private event the final Sunday of June the past several seasons. I think Kings Dominion schedules the private events best and limits companies to only rent the park out the weekends between Labor Day and the beginning of Haunt... but Carowinds' Haunt starts a week or two earlier than KD's so they don't have that option necessarily. On a different topic, I found it funny that Kings Dominion's employee night for Soak City was called "Big Splash!" since that's the emphasis on the Carowinds 2016 project. Obviously there is no connection, but I saw it on KD's HR Instagram page and thought it was worth a share. However, as many others have said, I could see Boomerang Bay becoming Soak City next season or in 2017.
  18. ^ You can easily do all the big rides and get a re-ride or two on your favorites in the amount of time you'll be there. Also, be sure to do KD's Drop Tower - it's still my favorite one out there!
  19. The trim just hits harder when the ride is going faster. If anything, the harder the trim hits means the more insane the ride is before that... However, it is my understanding that the trim regulates the speed going into the final section so warm, cold, dry, or wet the ride essentially remains the same in that last section. There is nothing different about the ride now than in 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014 - no worries!
  20. ^ No it doesn't. You can install more than one roller coaster per season... look at the last time KD got a coaster - Cedar Fair built both Intimidator 305 and Intimidator. It's coming. Talking about it daily and ragging the chain and park isn't going to speed up the process.
  21. I believe the Diagon Alley expansion in the Studios park did exactly what Universal wanted it to do - get both attendances equal again. Obviously, if you're going to the parks for Harry Potter, you can't just do one. With the attention that IOA has been getting lately it is just as great as (I actually think better than) Universal Studios Florida. On a different note, the Magic Kingdom numbers always make my jaw drop - absolutely insane!
  22. I'm pretty sure it has been stated that there are no Triotech rides for Cedar Fair in the making for 2016 and that they will begin rolling out into the parks in 2017. With that said, it is very doubtful that any parks would build a Triotech ride then a new coaster in back-to-back seasons. Triotech rides are going to run 8-12 million (depending on size, technology, placement) with a 'big' coaster being 15-25 million. Investing 27 (likely very low) to 37 million in a park is quite a big chunk of change. KD's additions have been very predictable since Intimidator 305, but 2016 isn't quite as obvious as of yet... but then again, it's only June 1st and we have approximately 80+ days before an announcement.
  23. Intimidator 305 is very rarely down more than one day in a row. Unless something major is wrong, it'll probably be open by tomorrow.
  24. First Cheetah Hunt, now this! Just from that leaked image, I'm already in love. I really wish BGW was going the direction of BGT. Cheetah Hunt puts Verbolten to shame (in my opinion) and I already like this ride better than Tempesto.
  25. Everything about this coaster easily puts it in the top 3 COASTERS in Orlando, and I'm not even a huge fan of B&M hypers! I really love that the ride actually has a good chunk left after the MCBR cough*Intimidator*cough*GateKeeper*cough Congrats to SeaWorld and I'm sure they'll make it beautiful. I hope this really helps the park out attendance wise.
