^Pics/link? At Adventure River (then Wild Water and Wheels) one year they added a water tank to the top of one of the tube slides. It was about the size of an 50-80 gallon water heater w/ transparent plastic. About 5 seconds or so after you started down the slide, the life guard would push a floor pedal releasing the water behind you. This usually caught up with your tube around halfway through the slide where there was a drop, two 90 degree turns, and another drop followed immediatly by another 90 degree turn. There were many times that after hitting the second drop I would find parts of my body ending up outside the slide, or having the tube flip. I was probably 8-11 during the years they used it, and it scared the crap out of me. I wouldn't go down unless they promised not to release the water, or release it as I was taking off....there were a few times they did it anyway.

^ I love the Orbiter (Typhoon). The last time I rode one at the Mid-South Fair, it was running pretty slow and not that great of a ride. I remember being younger and it just smashing you into the car, and you straining to keep your neck straight.

Anyone have a video or know of a site with footage of Avalanche? I remember someone posting a vid around the time it opened, but I can't find it now. I'm trying to persuade some people to go up there. Thanks

Opryland wasn't closed because the area couldn't support it. I remember reading around the time that Gaylord expected around $25 million a year through Opryland, and thought Opry Mills would be capable of bringing in $250 million. As for Valley, what did they really have to bring anyone in? A small collection of carnival rides isn't going to bring in alot of people from the city, much less other markets.

I had a dream once. I was posting on a forum, but not just any forum. This forum, had it been a real place, would have been in a town with gumdrop houses on Lollypop Lane. It was called Happy Forum Town. In Happy Forum Town, everyone drove on rainbow roads, in their cloud cars. Here, children danced merrily, and the sun smiled everyday. The mayor of Happy Forum Town was a man named Robb. He had a technicolor top hat, and sang songs about squirrels getting married. And by some magical power, everyone on the forum could post actual sentences, with proper punctuation. This forum was special in this regard. As I dreamed, my brain cells rejoiced, and quickly dropped the 5 feet of nylon cord they were planning to use to kill themselves. Sadly, I woke moments later sad and surrounded by bad grammar. Please help make my dream a reality.

Once you have firefox, go to http://rip.mozdev.org/. There is a link that says Install Rip Version 1.0.3. Click that. By default Firefox will block the site from installing software, and you will see a bar on top of the browser telling you so. On the right side of this bar is a button to Edit Options. Click that, then click allow for http://rip.mozdev.org/. Click the install link again. You will have a popup that will install the extension for you. Once it is finished restart firefox and you're set.
