  1. With what appears to be the beginning of a big coaster project at Kings Island and Kings Dominion's Hurler getting redone, it would seem unlikely that a coaster would be in the works. It would be great if there is though!
  2. Everything of importance absolutely could, and most likely, everything period.
  3. ^You should find some time to check it out this year. It is a great little park that badly needed the type of TLC it seems to be receiving now. Steel Hawg is fun, if not spectacular but Cornball Express is just plain awesome. Filled with airtime and is just one of those rides that is really really fun. It is definitely worth the trip by itself.
  4. Long story short, you should be fine that day. There may be school groups but they tend to thin out as the day goes on. The only thing to note is that some of the rides may not be operating early in the day for staffing reasons. Backlot seems to be the coaster that often falls into that category.
  5. ^This. I'm one of those who can't do 3-D as its a one way ticket to vomit town. While all these attractions look fantastic it be great to see something added I can ride without ruining the rest of my day.
  6. Agreed, I would throw Delirium in that category as well.
  7. Are we not calling SkyHawk at Canada's Wonderland a mid-sized thrill ride?
  8. I truly believe the long term goal for Carowinds is Cedar Point South. And, as a result, KD could certainly be in for some leaner years ride addition wise. I think 5-7 years between big installations is going to be the norm as long as this management is in place. And frankly, imo, there is nothing wrong with that. A more complete park experience is the goal and I think every single Cedar Fair park I have visited in the last five years has achieved that.
  9. Is this something relatively new? I remember Comet at Crystal Beach (now at Great Escape) used to run half the train backwards, half forwards and it was a PTC. I guess what I'm really asking is that did PTC ever directly come out and say this, or were there any service bulletins? I'm not sure that I have ever seen the actual sheet of recommendations from PTC to be honest. My understanding is that the recommendation not to run them backwards was made in 2006-2007-ish, whenever it was that recaR was turned forwards.
  10. The park has publicly stated nostalgia as being the reason for the switch. However, there is now an Ohio law that requires parks to follow all manufacturer's recommendations for ride operations. PTC does not recommend that their trains run backwards.
  11. You have to ride in 5-1 on Vortex, it is far and away the smoothest seat on the ride.
  12. Mt. Olympus and Beech Bend should merge their maintenance departments.
  13. Wasn't there an ACE gathering/event at the park today? I assume that is where this info is coming from?
  14. My understanding is that it is not. The suspension would have to be resolved (it could be on an issue on either end, Cedar Fair's or the USTPO's) before the mark could be used.
  15. Note that the filing of the trademark has been suspended. You cut your pic off just before the status section.
  16. Depending on how you define successful, yes. It means by their preferred means of financial performance evaluation it has been the 5th most successful. I may have erred in my earlier post as it does not say that that is for this year specifically.
  17. I would highly suggest reading through the Cedar Point Analyst Day release on the CF website. It has some great info on performance so far this year as well as a very interesting five year capital expenditures matrix. The oft discussed pie chart of park-by-park revenues and EBITDA is also present. Looks like park EBITDA broke down as follows so far this year: 1) Cedar Point 2) Knott's 3) Kings Island 4) Canada's Wonderland 5) Carowinds 6) Kings Dominion 7) Dorney 8) Worlds of Fun 9) California's Great America 10) Valleyfair 11) Michigan's Adventure There are also some interesting notes from the five year capital expenditure matrix. -Major coaster projects each year through 2020 -"Coaster Re-Work" projects for 2016-2018 -Mid-size thrill rides for 2016-2017 and 2019-2020 -Interactive Dark Rides for 2016-2019 -Accommodation expenditures in 2017 & 2019 -Ride Removals in 2016-2018
  18. According to this release it looks like there are major coaster plans for each year through 2020, and "Coaster Re-Work" projects through 2018 (I am assuming similar to the Mantis/Rougarou transformation), Mid-size thrill rides for 2016-2017 and 2019-2020, and interactive dark rides through 2020. All of this is of course subject to change but it offers an interesting insight into what the future may look like.
  19. They can be seen in this thread over at KIC.
  20. The orange/brown track at the Batavia plant is being loaded onto trucks this morning.
  21. Both CP and KI ( and I'm sure many others) vary the price based on demand. I can't tell you for sure, but I remember seeing at least one of the slingshots had a varied price depending on the time of day and business of the park. I believe it was Kings Island where it ranged from 15(maybe even 5...) during early entry, to 25 in the late afternoon.
  22. It would seem you may have two within sixish hours next year!
  23. ^Agreed. I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if this is a full iron horse conversion.
  24. Kentucky Kingdom's website now has T3 opening on the 6th.
  25. Indiana Beach is running a buy one get one special on one day tickets on its website if anyone is planning on visiting this season.
