  1. Kind of like if CP had gotten the B&M instead of CW. Would MF be a little less crowded early on in the morning, sure. But when all is said in done, I doubt that if it had come to CP that it would have much of an effect on MF's overall ridership.
  2. ^ Ahh, yes forgot about the height limit issue. WoF needs another major attraction, Valley probably could as well. It seems like Carowinds is getting on the every other year plan with major additions. I wouldn't have complained if they got a screamin' swing, however, I guess we should be happy they are getting a flat. The park reminds me of SF's with the low number of flats they currently have.
  3. From what I've heard, they have purchased two more over this years crop which apparently completes their obligation. However a rumor I've been hearing is that it was an option to buy at whatever discounted price, but regardless, with Carowinds getting one, the other is going somewhere, guess we wait and see. From what I've been told tho, it won't be Dorney or Worlds of Fun, at least not for 2012. I can only guess that it would be somewhere like Valley or Michigan. Of course CGA has a nice patch of grass open. ^
  4. "Save As" webpage complete. Awesome find, but shhh, it's confidential, lol.
  5. 1 wish has been granted, 1 is in queue, which will be the final wish? First one to tell me which of the following they want to see next will have their wish granted! Jersey Shore Whore - ~14 parks (note: some of the parks I have very few pictures of) Kiddieland whoring - Pittsburg, KS Heritage Square Amusement Park - Golden, Co Alpine Sleds @ Heritage Square - Golden, Co Milehigh Flea Market (yes, they have a credit)- Denver, Co Elitch Gardens - Denver, Co Santa's Workshop - North Pole
  6. As promised, your wish is my command. Beer. An American staple and a favorite among many a C-TPR member is produced by many and perfected by few. Coors believes they have it perfected and are willing to give you three on the house to prove it, that is, if you take their FREE Brewery Tour! Yes, I said it, FREE Beer, and oh yeah, a tour to go with it. Yes Please! When you get to the Brewery, you park in a lot at 14th and Ford where you board a shuttle bus. The shuttle bus takes you on a brief tour of downtown Golden, Co. where they give you bits and pieces of history on how the brewery was started. mmmmmm Hours and telephone information. Once you enter the tour lobby they provide you with an audio tour device and wristband used for FREE Beer! Behind the lobby counter is a history exhibit. Next, you make your way to the elevators which take you to the observation level of the brewery. Displayed on the wall are all of the beers they currently produce. Next stop, the ingredients. I have never touched barley before, I was surprised by it's light feathery texture. Once you've learned about the ingredients used to make beer, you head down a hallway to the Brewery. Stuff germinates over here. Yea!!!! They claim this is the largest copper kettle cookery in the world. Any one of the kettles can hold 20k plus cases of beer at one time. To go along with your audio tour are interactive displays. The left over grains are made into cattle feed. The spent yeast is sent to Purina to make cat food. Control Room. The guys in here know their beer. Noted! They also said they are the only large producer of beer that uses cold filtering. Filter. Wouldn't you like to have this job? They perform over 1 million tests a year... ...in here! Yes!!!! Halfway thru the tour your entered a "cold" room where you got about a four ounce sample of either Coors Light or Coors Banquet. You could sit on "ice cubes" and enjoy your beer or sample their special filtered mountain water. Another option is to go to the packaging room. Today they were packaging Coors Banquet and Keystone. Packing the beer. Fixing the packaging. Fixing the packaging machine. I'd imagine this is something you wouldn't want down long. Once you've taken it all in, it's time for a quiz. Or, you can skip the quiz and come down here.... Where you can sample three glasses of beer! I took a liking to Batch 19 which should go national soon. Once you finish there, you can go and buy crap. No, Thank You! Ditto. So that's it, the tour will take you about 90 minutes, 30 minutes for the tour, an hour to sit back and drink. Hope you enjoyed!
  7. Coors brew tour it is, will post it tomorrow afternoon! Two more wishes to grant!
  8. Ok, contest time. I have multiple trips to post, but need help in which one to post next. So....I will be granting wishes. Like in most wishing scenerios, I will grant three wishes, one each to the first three people who respond. Tell me which park you want to see next, the first person to respond will get their wish and so on and so forth, please, duplicate requests while humbling, shouldn't be made. Here is the list to choose from: Jersey Shore Whore - ~14 parks (note: some of the parks I have very few pictures of) Kiddieland whoring - Pittsburg, KS Heritage Square Amusement Park - Golden, Co Alpine Sleds @ Heritage Square - Golden, Co Lakeside Amusement Park - Denver, Co Milehigh Flea Market - Denver, Co Elitch Gardens - Denver, Co Santa's Workshop - North Pole Coors Brew Tour - Golden, Co
  9. I attended coaster club day at Schlitterbahn KC on Aug 14, 2011 and had the pleasure of eating breakfast with Terry Adams. At the time, the name sounded familiar, it was only after about 30 minutes that I realized she was the COO of Schlitterbahn, how cool is that?!?! I suppose eating alone has it's privileges So here is what's going on at Schlitterbahn KC. A few weeks ago they opened up an Aquaveyor that basically completes the short loop from the Kristal River back to the Torrent River. At 2:30pm on August 13th they opened the new slide tower. Okay, for you water park enthusiasts, the tower actually came from Wet-N-Wild in Las Vegas, has been fully refurbished, and rebuilt on a man-made island. Unfortunately, shortly after opening, they had to close the Comal Express and as of the 19th it remained closed for additional tweaking. As for the rest of the attractions, they are are putting the finishing touches on King Kaw rapids and were going to do their first test run of the pumps and whatnot on the evening of the 14th. They is still alot of work to be completed. This winter's snow and the spring's rain delayed their abilities to get the concrete poured and the slide tower erected as the work site was just too soft. But rest assured, it will all be up and running 100% by next season and very well could have additional components opened prior to the end of this season. As far as next year is concerned, they will focus on guest amenities such as additional restrooms, a new swim up bar, and other eateries in the new section of the park. As for their flagship property, look for something special to be announced. No, it won't be a new attraction, but a small adjustment to their operating schedule that will be welcomed by many a spring breakers. So, thats that, on with some photos, and a construction tour! Welcome to Schlitterbahn! An overview of the park Now this is a welcome addition! Basically, you load up your wristband in $5 increments so there is no need to worry about cash/credit cards in the park for drinks, food, or stuff! If you don't want to wait in line, come during the week. They even encourage it! This train one day will bring guests from the parking lot to the park for an additional charge. And this area will eventually be similar to the San Antonio Riverwalk, will be open year round, and will ultimatley be connected to their resort hotel. So here is an overview of the Torrent River screw and their original slide tower. This screw is smaller than the new one they are installing for the King Kaw, but, it produces nice big waves that we all enjoy. Basically, you enter the river, and then go position yourself in front of the giant wave maker on the upper right hand side of the photo. The waves then push you thru the river and past a long line of people waiting for the Wolf Pack slide. And then after about 15 minutes, dumps you off here. The excess water from the slides also dump into the same general area. Entering here will give you two choices. The first is to chose the left hand river that will take you to the master blaster, the middle takes you to the Raging River. As you can see, there are tons of people wanting to get blasted. The far right river is a return from the Kristal River. Swim up bar! They even have a couple of kiddie areas. Which are near the big blasting slide. Speaking of, you float up here and take an aquaveyor to start your journey. NERD SHOT! So here is the end of the Raging River which dumps you into the Kristal River. You have two choices at this point. The first being to take the slow boat around the Kristal River, the other is to make a U-turn and head for the aquaveyor to send you to the front of the park. Oh yea, I suppose you can also get out/in here too. So that would mean you have 3 choices. For those of you who live under a rock, Schlitterbahn lets you bring in your own food and beverage. If you get here first, you can be under the teepee. They also have lots and lots of free tubes. Noted! How about a construction tour of the Mighty Mo, Boogie Bahn, and King Kaw River? Yes you say? Ok, here goes. This will be a collection pond amongst other uses. This would be a big belt that will take you from the river and then dump you into the King Kaw. Giant screw motor. Giant screw. Conveyor belt nerd shot! The belt will dump you off here, were you will either get out for the Boogie Bahn, float on down the river, or just plain get out. This is what the business end of the giant screw looks like. I don't advise putting your fingers in here. The new slide complex as seen from the unfilled King Kaw! So let's begin our walk-thru shall we? Watch your head! These people were like, what are you guys doing down there in an empty river So once you enter, you'll be in a narrow channel which will run faster and have some ripples, it will then dump you in to a larger pool where you slow down, then do it all over again and we're walking you'll wind and twist and turn around the back side of the park, where, one day you will find tree houses! Chris says that building back there will house boys rooms next year. And girls rooms too perhaps. Part of the way thru, you will have the option to get out, or get in. depending on which optioin you choose, you might float down more rapids, or, you might be lame and get out. But if you do get out, you can get your boogie on on the Boogie Bahn The excess water from the river that bring you down from the master blaster and from the Boggie Bahn will dump below and then rush out two tubes that will form the Might Mo tube chute. And just from what little water is being pumped in there now, you can tell that this will be one fast tube chute! Here is where the Mighty Mo will begin. And this is about where it will end. One of these two guys owns Schlitterbahn, can you tell which one? Anyway, thats it for the tour, hope you have enjoyed it! Next year promises to be an awesome year. This year, attendance has been up and as they make improvements will soon be the top destination in the midwest for waterparks, so come out before the season ends or for sure make a visit next year!
  10. Just keep in mind that any new flat (or from what I've read in the case of Green Lantern) ride that Six Flags puts in will be tamed, don't want any lawsuits now do we.
  11. Flight purchased, had to book a non-preferred airline as SW doesn't yet fly into ATL, boo. Oh well, paid a little extra for a non-stop flight that will allow me to only use 1 day of vacation instead of 2 which means more time in Florida in October
  12. A tree fell on my car during a hellish storm in Kansas City last night, scratched it to hell.
  13. ^ lol. I was thinking they might be trying to be like Disney. Regardless, I'll still pony up. I haven't used my 2011 pass as much as I've wanted to, but still have gotten my money's worth out of it. Next year, I'll complete my Cedar Fair park credits with VF, CW, and MA.
  14. I suppose I could have started a new thread for this, however, your Cedar Fair Plat Pass is gonna cost you for 2012. How much? $179 Some parks are having a sale Labor Day Weekend, for example, Worlds of Fun is $149. On the other parks I've checked on, KI, KD, Carowinds, I'm not seeing any sale announcements, yet. My rough math says it's a $40 increase over 2009. Just makes me wonder now what Six Flags is going up to.
  15. I got a few strobe lights on my ride on the scrambler, however, after seeing the sign on the door that indicated the ride would not be run without the lights on, I got a little sad. Still, great little park, the crew on the Eurofighter happend to get my award as the friendliest in the park. Now, my award doesn't really offer anything, not even a piece of paper, but nonetheless, it's an award.
  16. I'd even hop on board a mini tour!
  17. ^ I have a few, but I'm sure others have some that are better than mine, nonetheless, I'll get them uploaded soon!
  18. I have found the park index to be highly valuable in trip planning. I look for it to be the premier place for people to come to to aide them in trip planning (yes, TPR members already know this, I am referring to the casual theme park guest)
  19. ^Thanks! And yes, that was me! Shoulda stopped over and said hello, I don't bite
  20. "Hot Dog Stand #3 costs too much" This was a great park, better than I expected in fact. In general, I really love the well seasoned parks that have tons of history, old school rides, new school rides. Canobie has a very strange, but awesome dark ride, a last of it's kind caterpillar, not to mention for those who just want to chill, a nice boat ride on the lake. The row of pinball machines also helped to elevate the park in coolness. This was certainly one of my fav's of the trip!
  21. ahh yes, the bumper cars. Nothing like a ride where they don't care if you hit head on or have a seat belt on. LOVED them!
