Chuck's Busch Gardens Williamsburg Thread

Woah, I'm in one of your pictures! Also, when we went to HoS Friday, the first time we went through Hunted they had a bungee wolf. The second time they didn't though. -

I wouldn't feel safe at SFA at night. I didn't feel safe there during the day, let alone at night. Plus I'd rather spend time at KD's Haunt since I know that's good. -

I went for opening night and have my reviews. The only things we missed were Blue Ridge Bloodbath, Central Stalkway, and Feary Tales, plus nearly all of the shows. Alien Outpost - Much better than previous years, had some nice scares. 6/10 Overlord's Resurrection - Fun to watch, but short. 6/10 Camp Killauee - Must do in the dark, be warned though, really long line. Nice scares. 7/10 The Asylum - Fun, seemed like a giant mirror maze with strobes. 6/10 The Harvest - Meh, scareactors are confined to one area. 5/10 Club Blood - Was not impressed with it, worst maze of the night. Far worse than previous years. 3/10 Toxic Plague - Frightening, especially for me with my phobia of bugs. Scareactors may cluster around you. 6/10 CarnEvil - By far the best scare zone, saw some AMAZING scares here. Great great great. 8/10 Slaughter House - Basically a gorefest, only really scary for those with weak stomachs or vegetarians. 5/10 Medieval Macabre - Still in my top 3, great scares here. 7/10 The Doll Factory - AMAZING, AWESOME, SPECTULAR. 9.5/10 (also, we got evacuated the second time we went through it) The Ruins - Fun, much better than VooDoo Swamp. 6/10 -
I went last night. It was fun, not as good as KD's usually is in my opinion, but it was a lot better than previous years. Bitten was ok, I felt like it was just a poor imitation of Club Blood. There weren't many scareactors and the bouncers were letting too many people into the maze at once. 4/10 first time, 6/10 second time Hunted was my favorite maze. There were plenty of good places for scares in it, but they were letting too many people into the maze at once. My biggest complain, though, with Hunted is the vines hanging from the ceiling. I do think they overdid them, but this was still the best maze in my opinion. 5/10 first time, 7/10 second time Harvest Hollow was more or less a scare zone you had to walkthrough to get out the Oktoberfest area. It was pretty fun, and I witnessed some hilarious scares. 4/10 first time, 6/10 second time Catacombs seemed as if it was thrown together at the last minute. It was very short, not many scareactors in it, and the few they did have weren't really scaring. 3/10 Revenge of Pompeii was the same as always. A few good scares, but it was the same tricks as all the other times I went through it. Still an ok maze though. 5/10 Cursed had cool special effects and theming, but the scares, again, weren't up to par. They were capable of making witch noises and staring at you, but there weren't any really good scares. 5/10 Overall though, I still really enjoyed Howl-O-Scream, I just didn't feel the mazes were to good. This very well could be because it was only the first night, everyone was still trying to get their act together, but I don't know. EDIT: ^ I saw you, Chuck, in your Club TPR shirt while in line for Catacombs.

I went Saturday with some family and Alpengeist was closed all day. I don't know why, but the entrance was blocked off and they had a sign saying it would be closed for the day. They were packed on Saturday, as well. 45 min wait for Curse of DarKastle, 25 min wait for Apollo's Chariot, 10 min for Nessie, and Griffon had an hour wait all day, so we never rode it. We also had to park in overflow.

I went to KD today. I felt the trims, but grayed out more than ever. But who cares?? It was awesome and that's what matters! The park was practically empty. The longest wait for Volcano, which was maybe 10 minutes or so. Not much going on with Haunt... Dodgems and WWC are closed for the remainder of the year to allow for the construction of Medevial Macabre (Dodgems) and Camp Killauee (WWC). I tried snapping pictures of any Haunt stuff I could find, but there just isn't much set up yet. -
Ricochet @ Carowinds = Wow, this thing is seriously out-of-control! It was so much fun, and the airtime was amazing (better than any other coaster at the park, including Intimidator). Grizzly @ Kings Dominion = This is the only wooden coaster in my top ten, and it's awesome. I don't understand how people can call Grizzly rough when compared to Rebel Yell and Hurler.

Also, is this Rock Band Tour thing called "Rock Band Live"? Because, it's at KD now. Aug 20-Aug 29. -
It really depends on the weather, even during Columbus Day weekend. If it's rainy and cold, chances are, they won't be too busy. If it's fairly warm and clear skies, prepare for a busy night. Saturdays are usually the busiest, and I prefer Fridays because from past experience, at least at KD, it's usually empty even with ok weather. But with it being Columbus Day weekend, watch out for crowds either way. Also, make sure you hit up Club Blood at KD's Haunt! Best maze ever!

List the parks you have visited in 2010
KingB24 replied to Groteslurf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Dominion Busch Gardens Williamsburg Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg (if that counts) Trimper's Rides Jolly Roger at the Pier Six Flags America Carowinds will soon be added. Heading there this weekend. -
Sorry for the late response, but thanks. We leave Friday and are coming back Sunday, and we got two-day tickets. I believe we're going Friday night and Saturday. It sounds like the weather will be nice, so I'm hoping the crowds aren't going to be that bad.

We're waiting for these parks, as far as I know: Kings Dominion Carowinds Michigan's Adventure California's Great America I feel like I'm forgetting one though. CP = Windseeker KI = Windseeker CW = Windseeker KBF = Windseeker VF = Planet Snoopy WoF = Planet Snoopy Dorney = Planet Snoopy Oh, I guess Gilroy Gardens, but what would they get? And either way, I highly doubt KD (or Carowinds for that matter) will be getting anything big in 2011. Probably SSS. -

The barrel rolls are the roughest part of Volcano, in my opinion. There's almost always some headbanging there. I wonder how Haunt is coming along, I am so excited for it! The Doll Factory sounds so eerie, and of course, good ol' Club Blood is returning! -

I completely agree. Everybody forgets about that park and I don't even know when they last got a new coaster. On-topic of Wonderland though.... the Windseeker looks pretty cool. It's pretty funny how it makes everything else, like Vortex, Drop Tower, Jet Scream, etc. look so miniscule. I would love to see one come to Kings Dominion! -
Been playing MW1 and MW2 lately. I've had MW2 for nearly a month I think and MW1 I just got yesterday. MW1 = Lvl. 11, no prestige (KDR = 0.62) MW2 = Lvl. 47, no prestige (KDR = 0.53)

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has some tips for visiting Carowinds. It's looking pretty good that we're going to go next weekend, and I'm looking for an idea of how to make my way around easily and make use of my time. We'd be going on a Saturday. What are the crowds usually like? My dad, my cousin, and I are going. My dad and I have been before (just once) but neither of us really remember what it was like. So, thank you in advance for any tips!

^^ I did ride in the back. It was the whole ride that I found to be so bad, especially the death helix at the end. The double down was pretty cool though, I have to admit. ^ I only wanted to ride it because I need the credit and I've never ridden an SLC (or a boomerang, for that matter). -

^ I don't think so. I could be wrong, but I usually see Pokemon prizes and giant stuffed animals. It would be awesome if they had Domo though! -

No, seriously. Wild One is a contender for the roughest coaster I've ridden. Roar was rough but not nearly as bad as Wild One. -

Send me a PM if you play MW2 on PS3. I'm absolutely addicted to it (had it for about a week and a half now).

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread
KingB24 replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I visited last Friday (8/13), and it was my first visit ever to SFA, as well as to any Six Flags park in general. I just have to say, I didn't really enjoy it. Batwing and S:ROS are pretty much the ONLY two rides that make me want to come back, and they're still not that good. I found that the park was very rundown; paint was peeling from almost every building and ride, and it just wasn't a "pretty" park. However, the staff was very friendly; we did not have a problem with that. On several rides they were giving high-fives and all. The biggest problem I had with the staff was their terrible operations. We waited nearly 45 minutes for Batwing (which was only running one train) and the line wasn't very long. They had a very small switchback just at the entrance and that was it. They were only dispatching trains once every 7 minutes or so. But anyway, quick ride reviews: Batwing - Despite the long wait, it was my favorite ride at SFA. My first ever flying coaster! I would love to see one at KD or BGW. S:ROS - Amazing airtime, but really short. Also surprisingly fast. Joker's Jinx - More intense than FoF, but I still prefer FoF. The Wild One - Painful. Perhaps the roughest coaster I've ever ridden. Roar - It was alright, not as bad as it looks. Mind Eraser - CLOSED It would've been my first SLC. Renegade Rapids - What a waste of time. You don't even get wet! It's more of a quick and (somewhat) relaxing ride. Shipwreck Falls - One of the best water rides I've ever ridden, actually. We got SOAKED. And I mean, not the kind of soaked where you dry off in an hour or so, we were truly drenched. After the seven hour ride back (thanks to traffic), I was still pretty wet. My other big complaint about the park was the food. We ate at Johnny Rocket's.... UGH. It was just plain bad (and a very overpriced $55!). We got two burgers, chicken fingers, two sodas, and a milkshake. How that comes out to $55 I do not know (especially when it's terrible food).
