  1. I'm enjoying this TR since my brother and I are staying at Pop Century next week.
  2. 1) Cinnamon Bread. MULTIPLE times. Get there early.. 2) The chicken place - what others have said above. 3) The kettle corn 4) The skillets. I had the philly cheese steak one and it was 'okay'.. But there are lots of different ones to try. 5) Dolly's bus. (Yes, bus. Bust also, if she'll be there) Other tips: I don't know how crowds will be, but you might want to get a Q-bot for $15- the employees are awesome enough to tell you whether or not you need one. If you're renting a car, go to Ober-Gatlinburg. If it's your own car and you like replacing brakes, then you should also go to Ober-Gatlinburg. Get Mystery Mine over with.. it closes down a lot. Stay in a cabin.. Go see Jurassic Jungle Boat ride. Seriously. Thank us later.
  3. Is it just me, or does Apocalypse look really 'bleached'? As if the wood has faded drastically in only 3.5 years. As for the carny ride, wow.
  4. Besides, even if the amusement park was unscathed, who'd visit it anyway if the town is destroyed?
  5. There was a pier in Huntington Beach, CA that was wiped out by a storm years ago (less severe than this one) and a restaurant collapsed. Big deal. It's been rebuilt. The pier is now bigger and better (and stronger). One of the biggest aspects of being a business owner is taking risk - you're a fool if you spend money on anything without buying insurance. This coaster didn't look 'new' - and, from the sounds of it, wasn't anything exciting or enjoyable. Look at SF New Orleans - after they collected the insurance money, they probably realized, "Gee, it might not be such a good idea to rebuild a theme park lower than sea level." It's called learning from mistakes.. it's what makes things better.
  6. I wasn't implying that there would be a delay - I was just saying that I don't believe in rumors until I see the actual ride up and running.
  7. Screamscape I was at the park Sept. 9, 2012. They were just starting to remove the water ride. I asked a very well informed employee what was going to be put there? He said it was top secrete. I then asked a employee at the train gates and he was more informative. He was upset that they were removing their water ride as it was hot in the park and employees loved that ride. He said that they were planing a New Themed area with two flat rides. This is only a rumor. This is not fact. What? It's on the internet - it must be true. In my opinion, nothing is true until it's completely built AND open; testing doesn't count because they might have to make changes before opening.
  8. Other than the 'Big One' coming to So Cal, I don't see why it would be so bad sitting up there. There would be some awesome views. They should have sent up some binoculars somehow. I'd love to know how Knott's took care of the people who were up there for 3 hours (free tickets/meals?).
  9. I was there on Monday and now I regret not riding it - looks like it'll be down for a while. I was also a few miles away from Knott's yesterday and it was ALL over the local radio stations. I thought about getting a picture, but figured there would be a bunch of them online. Oh well, it happens.. I'm sure there'll be a lawsuit over it, even though all safety mechanisms worked as intended.
  10. Wow.. they're not wasting any time. Guess there was no way they could have salvaged/sold the ride?
  11. Thanks to this video... I just learned what that meant too. Kinda douchy saying if you ask me, kinda fits the people in so cal. I think they marketed that well for their clientele. :/ Fixed. Which is why I hate this state.
  12. Oh wow, there really is fog in the tunnel. They should throw in some on-board audio while they're at it. I like features that only last one season.
  13. God that sounds awesome! My guess is fog... and it will last a season or two. What do I win?
  14. ^ Yeah, because the 40 year old fiberglass flume would have lasted at least another decade, right?
  15. All of your TRs are good, but San Diego Zoo was the funniest.
  16. This is making us Chris Rs look bad.. It's not me guys, I swear. As for the OP, I believe you were looking for yelp.com.
  17. I think with Knott's, though, it's the history attached to eating at the restaurant - which is why Knott's exists. I look forward to eating fried chicken at Knott's, but for some reason, it just doesn't sound enticing to eat it at Disneyland. Of course, I also think eating the turkey legs is barbaric, so..
  18. Will they really get everything done in 3 months? What's the usual closure - a month?
  19. Oh.. at least I got to ride it while they were still on the ride - I had a feeling they wouldn't last long. As for the safety complaints, you can't deny that the rides have been open for over 50 years. It's just that people are too busy on their phones and don't watch their children.
  20. Guest complaints? Much like a few fingers getting pinched on a 50+ year old Jungle Boat ride? The best part of waiting in line was watching people try to grab the balls.. EDIT: Did I just say that?
  21. I didn't know what Desperados was either: www.alterface.com/en/home/ That is pretty awesome! Even replacing Mystery Lodge with nothing would be an improvement.
  22. Dear California, This is yet another reason why you suck - you have nothing even remotely close to a ride like this. Sincerely, Someone who's been on El Toro and Phoenix, just to name a few. Awesome Chad, thanks!
  23. I would say your comments did not detract from the TR. Looks like a neat little park!
