Thorpe Park Discussion Thread
griffonj2022 replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love this name and theme for this ride. It's a total package all in one for me! Too bad I live in the states.... It's also a great idea due to all of the hype about the apocalyptic ending-of-the-world coming in 2012, making it an attention grabber. Can't wait for some CGI animation if they have any! -
Totally right there. I have greyed out before, a lot actually. The last time I greyed out was on SuperDooperLooper when we hit the bottom of the loop going into it. At the top, I was seeing some stars, but that's the fun of it! I always grey out on the first overback on Millennium Force, but that's where everyone grey's out. I think I greyed out on Mantis, but that's probably because I don't like stand-ups and it was my first B&M stand-up (with no trims that day!)

I was trying to do my name, griffonj2022, "French-i-fied", but yes. I can't wait for everyone to start playing this "viral" campaign for the ride! It took me 5 days to figure out the whole darn scheme in my brain, but it's going to be quite fun! I''m pretty sure the CTR for LynX is the one done by Techno Dude in The Intamin Super Pack! here on TPR. Here's the link: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58584 I use that CTR for every Intamin Blitz, Accelerator, and everything else! If you're ready to play the game, get your brains thinking and your talons out...

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Griffin Jauneboute et j'habite dans la ville de Tarbes en France. I should probably speak in English though, since this is an American website, but I thought I'd give a little background on myself by speaking French. Well, this topic was started by myself due to mysterious construction occuring at Parc du Tarbes, one of my favorite parks in France by the way, for the 2012 season. Here's a little teaser of the construction site (through the fences ) But, I should probably give you a little background on the park before we get into the good stuff... Founded in 1933 by Hugues Garonne, Parc du Tarbes was originally a small portion of land in Tarbes used as private hunting grounds for the wealthy. But, noise from constant gunshots and growth of the city led for the hunting grounds to be converted into a private park. The park was well kept and beautiful, but in 1977, Parc du Tarbes was bought from the city by Amusements Ultimes (AU), and was converted into a theme park. Opening as the "new" Parc du Tarbes on April 8, 1978, the theme park became a destination for the people of Tarbes - and of France; it only held 17 attractions inside it's fences. Home to two wooden roller coasters, Parc du Tarbes was a magnet for thrill-seeking Frenchmen. La Bête, a toboggan-style coaster set back in the woods... And Souris Sauvage!, a typical run-of-the-mill wild mouse... helped make Parc du Tarbes became an attraction destination for the citizens of France. However, finacial implications and deficits in the early 1990's led to the deconstruction and removal of the two roller coasters, impacting ride count, and attendance, greatly. But, there was light at the end of the tunnel! After finally overcoming financial constraints and investing money correctly, Parc du Tarbes opened their "first" roller coaster, LynX, in May of 2005. Here's a fun fact. The path below this zero-g roll is in fact LynX's exit, not entrance! Manufactured and constructed by Intamin AG of Switzerland, LynX put Parc du Tarbes back on the map by launching 16 riders from 0-80kph using electro-magnetic technology! With a maximum height of only 25 metres, one zero-g roll, and a small footprint, LynX was the short but necessary ride the park needed to round out it's current selection. And now, the park is at it again. You see, before the reveal, release, and vertical construction of LynX, the park played somewhat of a game with the people in Tarbes. By sending out secret clues, performing crazy publicity stunts, and ultimately creating what you would call a "viral" campaign, the park built up the release of LynX to it's ultimate potential by feeding the curious minds of park visitors - and i think they're at it again. While recently scanning this website for fun, I came upon this picture on "The Preview Thread".... Now, I know that this is from the park due to the title of the image - V1 (II). It could seem totally random to all of you, but not to me. I, being a frequent visitor to Parc du Tarbes, know a lot of the workers and managers of the park. Le grand fromage, the park's MD (CEO), is Mr. Verand Première II...Mr. Verand Première the second. Don't you get it? V1 (II) = Verand Première(1) II (the second) This is just the beginning in this game, I can feel it... I regards to the picture, I can't really make out what all the lines are, but I know what is at the bottom of the left-hand side. The symbol, looking like the letter "V"... Means literally the letter "V", the symbol for the number 5 in Roman numerals, or references Mr. Première again. This confuses me, seeing as if they are putting in a new attraction, what would the letter "V" have anything to do with it, or the number 5? I can see how Mr. Première could be involved, seeing as he manages anything that happens in the park, but if it's a roller coaster, wouldn't they have the number 2 on it since it's their second roller coaster? Anyways, due to the "V" on the picture, I'm calling this post Project "V", hoping to find the answer to the mystery! I don't know what's going on at Parc du Tarbes, but I know that I will figure it out as they continue this game. Anybody with me? -Griffin *All people, attractions, parks, and images within this thread are entirely fictional and any similarity to a nonfictional source is entirely coincidential.

Now I know I said I wasn't going to start my next idea/project for awhile, but I couldn't resist... Let the games begin. -

^Looks great! My next project (don't expect it anytime soon it's gonna be awhile ) will be *similar* to this, but this is definitely a work of art! -
OFFICIAL STORM RUNNER RELEASE! Finally, STORM RUNNER has been released for the thrill-seeking "peeps" to strap in, hold on, and chase the storm on this one-of-a-kind Intamin Accelerator. With a 0-72 mph launch in 2 seconds, a 150ft. top hat, 180ft. drop, cobra loop, barrel roll, the signature flying snake dive, a twisted finale, and two creek crossings, STORM RUNNER is the ultimate in innovative and new track elements. Interacting with the Monorail, Dry Gulch Railroad, and Trailblazer, STORM RUNNER navigates it's twisted track in under 60 seconds, but 60 seconds is all you need to make an impression.... So pick your seat, pull down the restraint, and strap in to experience VERTICAL HORSEPOWER on STORM RUNNER! I'm sort of in shock right now because I can't believe that I did all of this. It was a lot of effort, a lot of time, and a lot of patience, but it was worth it in the end! STORM RUNNER is one of my favorite roller coasters, and to make a recreation of it and have it be (in my opinion ) the best and the most accurate, it makes me immensely proud. I'd like to thank everyone that looked up and checked this forum, because without you there wouldn't be anyone to share the final product with! So look at the pictures, watch the video, download the file from the exchange, comment on this and experience VERTICAL HORSEPOWER on STORM RUNNER! I'm so proud, like I said above, of all of this and all that I've done for it. I thank you again so much for your support, criticism, and praise, because it's finally here for you all to enjoy! Comment on this please! http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=2331

Thank you so much! I know it wouldn't work, I planned on it just being a visual to make it look like it would, but not actually have it function. Said the words for me! Thanks. And yes, it is Intamin that has the dual-loading station with a switch track on some accelerators. By the way, I've already released something that's hidden on TPR somewhere. If you feel like doing a little digging around for it, maybe you'll uncover something? STORM RUNNER is stampeding it's way here as we speak, and only a couple more hours until it finally launches to life...

Thanks! I am using some of the Hershey stuff added to the game from the Soaked! expansion pack, but a lot of the scenery, rides, and STORM RUNNER itself are custom scenery and CTR's. Thanks for the info. I changed the maintenance walkway like you said, and now the railing and walkway are only on the left side of the launch. Also, there is some elevation difference between STORM RUNNER and Trailblazer, but, like you said, it's understandable because of the game itself. Video production, editing, and more are occuring, and I am SO EXCITED. This is my first ever video I'm putting out, so I have a lot of pressure that I put on myself, but I can't wait for everyone to see the final creation. The storm is only a day away! (And this time, I'm serious)

Due to slow computer problems, the release of STORM RUNNER has been delayed until July 24th, 2011 I apologize a ton for this, but the ride is 100% done and filming is nearly done. The only huge problem is my computer, as the files and game seem to be too much for it to handle. It'll make it through this project I promise! I found another accurate video...I'm pretty proud Also, while sitting in my driver's ed. class watching a video on construction and signs, the idea for the next project came flooding into my head. After running from storms, the next one will take you towards the sky...

Official RCT3 Help Thread
griffonj2022 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
David Braben is for launch coasters that use the chain lift or launch out of the station. That's if you want them to get over 55 mph or whatever the limit is....I'll try David Walsh D LEAN....that opens the Flying Camera thing. Wish me luck... -
Official RCT3 Help Thread
griffonj2022 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Just a quick question here... When filming in RCT3, is there any way once you've filmed to get rid of the icons and banner at the top of the video? I know you can crop it out on pictures, but how do you get rid of it on a video? I've heard of camera sets and stuff for the game that you can use to film that eliminate the icons, but I don't know where they'd be or how effective they are. Thanks. -
Day 6 (Day 9 actually, my lucky number too...) A LOT DONE! Only a few more things here and there to do, such as fencing, a few buildings, benches, lights, etc., but it looks so good so far in my opinion. I can't even believe I made it all Only one day to go! More launching occuring...testing I mean See! Buildings! Another building... Trailblazer and Sidewinder are complete! (for the most part...) Trailblazer has a (not accurate) station! More testing shots... Three trains at once? (Literally three trains....) Oh, and the station is finished too OOOOO....a photo viewing shop too! Can't wait for tomorrow to come.... Oh, and please comment if you have any advice on things I could do to enhance STORM RUNNER and the surrounding area more. You could also give pointers on things that are missing from the ride and scenery. Thanks. Only one more day to go... Until VERTICAL HORSEPOWER is let loose........

Day 5 (Actually Day 8, but Day 5 of work) The station is coming together, the pathways are starting to form into real pathways, and buildings have been started! Takeoff from the viewing platform Quickly running to see it reach the top! There goes another one... I like this shot... Woooooosh (Reflection on water is so cool) Barely missing the monorail! I like this part of the ride...but it's not my favorite The station has made some progress! Oh, and we can't forget about Sidewinder, can we? Sporting new trains too! Only a few days away!....and a lot of work left to do... Feel free to offer up any suggestions or comments as well. ALMOST DONE?

They are CoasterJoe's Queue Railing set including Doughnuts Railings. (both sets are downloaded in CoasterJoe's set) I used Doughnuts Railings mainly but used CoasterJoe's in the station for the diagonal sections. Both sets have railings for staircases, and Doughnuts includes the fans that you see in the picture; they move too! Here's the link below. You might have to create an account if you don't have one yet... http://www.rctlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9029

Some "Working Progress" construction shots from Day 4... Station work has begun! (Ignore all of the ugliness ) Track Switchbed Queue basically completed... Also, Trailblazer was added after all, even though it's not exactly accurate and correct. Now it's a hop, skip... And a jump over Trailblazer! I find this shot super cool for some reason... Rolling back to the station... I also have added most of the pathways and viewing platforms. Gotta start on the buildings now From the viewing platform to the right of the launch track This one is awesome... It's a lot of work still to do, but I can't wait to see the final result. Comments and criticism are always welcome too, anything that will make the project better please offer up your opinions. New Release Date - Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Day 3 - A LOT STARTED...little completed Look at that! Pathwork under STORM RUNNER and Railroad started: That's better Looks pretty cool! But something seems to be missing here... FLOATING STEEL!!! That might come in handy Overall, I don't think I'm going to put in Trailblazer just because of the teeny tiny amount of space I have to work with. I put in the Monorail and Railroad because they truely interact with STORM RUNNER, but Trailblazer just doesn't wanna fit. Friday can't come fast enough, can it?
