  1. Fury seems like it would be great for Cedar Fair's infamous "red and yellow" colors. Dull black? Black and gray could go with Fury if they are not alone (there should be other colors.)
  2. People are speculating about inversions and airtime for Iron Cyclone. Also, why did SF neuter Cyclone? Before this, I see the ride had shoulder straps, did they want to speed up loading? As for Iron Cyclone, they should restore the first drop (I heard that it was insane, so a steeper RMC version should be insane, too) and restore the near 90 degree banking on the first turn that I saw in old Riverside Cyclone videos.
  3. ^Yeah, it was 11-looper. Hasn't been built yet, I think I've seen pics of supports for it rusting in a field. Maybe we should continue this thread.
  4. Anybody who's been on them all or most - rank these- -Mega-Lite (best) -Skyrush 2012 -Skyrush post-lift neuter -Skyrush today -I305 -Maverick
  5. ^^ It does look more B&M than Intamin. The huge helix (not even really a helix, more like a giant turn) on the other hand... not B&M-like.
  6. I would say possibly to fix dispatch time, and of maybe give people a better view? Also could be to save money, electricity. Many reasons why. Just consider yourself lucky if you got to ride it in 2012 Never rode it in 2012. I'm a saaaaaad panda...
  7. to be fair though Chang is now at SFGA, so they weren't completely lying. Chang is at the other SFGA, that is Great Adventure (SFGAdv.) Although didn't SFGAm consider moving Chang? That would have been weird assuming Chang wouldn't replace Iron Wolf (which has since went to SFA.)
  8. If you have come here from my new thread or elsewhere, please post in the successor to this thread here- http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=68662&p=1482299#p1482299
  9. Don't lock this thread, please. I'm going to put a link to this one in the old one.
  10. Remember that especially horrible Hebei Zhongye Metallurgical Equipment Manufacturing knockoff SLC from Jinling Happy World? Well, that same company has built another one- http://rcdb.com/11080.htm By the way, I seem to remember that one badly engineered knockoff SLC needed its sidewinder reprofiled in a very painful way. Was that the Jinling one or some other company's? And can I get a picture of that? Edit - Never mind about the picture, you can see some of the Chinese knockoff failures including that sidewinder here- the sidewinder actually belongs to this coaster I've posted about in the first place - it just opened, apparently. http://forum.nolimits-exchange.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2910&page=6 And for my old thread with the same pictures (I really should have bumped it, but I've already posted this), look no further than here-don't post there, post here http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1436028 Look there to see a launched Loop Screw and more! Interesting note - All pics from RCDB of the SLC testing were taken on April 22 and show a "normal" Hebei sidewinder, while a pic posted by gerstlaueringvar and others was posted before that. Were the April 22 pictures just uploaded then, or did they re-modify the sidewinder? Was the "flat-top" version the new version and the "kinked" version the old one? Was the Jinling model built with the "kink" before?
  11. Why was the catapult lift slowdown done? To reduce the "thigh crushing"?
  12. Why would they neuter a ride that was designed to be the most intense thing that Intamin could think up... if this was lawsuit avoidance or state-mandated neutering somehow, I am VERY angry.
  13. Do the new S&S 4D coasters cost the same amount? (Eejanaika and Dinoconda.) Also, are they expensive because you have heavy trains+4 rails+supports to support both?
  14. More of my pipe dreams. I seriously should go into engineering and design coasters... Here is an idea for Iron Colossus. On a straight section, maybe the "speed hill" today (Yes, this would get rid of a massive airtime opportunity, but it would add something awesome), make a "dueling interlocking roll." Here's how this works- Imagine side A on the left and side B on the right. Side A rolls in a stretched corkscrew (almost a heartline roll) over side B as as side B's train passes under. Now side B is on the left and side A has rolled over to the right. Then, Side B would do an identical element as side A passes under. This would also give the opportunity to move the tracks sideways a bit. I think a dueling RMC really should use this, it would be like an even more awesome "high-five."
  15. I'm saying that Beast barely gets away with 3 trains, RMC trains are shorter, and SFMM might not manage with more than 2, maybe 3. Just because the ride CAN run 3+ trains does not mean that SFMM will run it that way. We all know that SFMM seems to limit itself to 2 trains and on some occasions, a single train. Hopefully they will work more logically on a length record-holder.
  16. El Toro got to 1 million in the shortest time... that coaster has pretty damn high capacity! Looks like B&M has some capacity competition!
  17. If they do one long track, they can't really run 2 trains without having horrible capacity. Beast can get away with 3 large trains, 36 people each, and I don't think that its capacity is terribly high. RMC trains tend to have a capacity more like 24 people per train. Two trains combined with a very long ride would be torture.
  18. Agreed. Although I don't remember Riddler's Revenge's loudness, S:EFK and Mantis are pretty much the loudest rides you will ever hear. Large and fast woodies are interesting, too - not that loud in themselves, but their unusual noises, including the "bumpier" sound of a high-speed woodie train (listen to Mean Streak as it passes over its entrance) and the squeaking sound present on curves (and even straightaways sometimes, or maybe I'm just going crazy ) What causes a woodie's squealing sound anyways?
  19. A variant of this has been done before. Maverick. If you time the launches right, the trains "duel" as the 2 stretches of track cross over each other. However, timing really varies. And if Cedar Point can't get perfect dueling, I imagine that SFMM can't either. By the way, with a "one-station Möbius" circuit, how many trains would you use? The ride could handle even or odd numbers of trains - just send one out as the next climbs the lift, and you will duel either way. Would you have a long final brake, or stack on the MCBR and lift? The ride would have plenty of blocks, but at a certain number of blocks, you will just have trains stacking on the MCBR and lift. Along with instilling fear in the GP, lift and block brake stacking also means ride ops cannot see what is going on when the train dispatches. It also requires the ride to be designed to be able to regularly stop without having to do a special "set up" procedure. This all assumes that they keep the MCBR.
  20. Could this have to do with the decibel meters spotted at Prudential not too long ago?
  21. Yeah. Topper Track and remove the drastic trims. Maybe reprofile a little for maximum airtime, but not NTAG-style reprofiling - maybe add a double-up or double-drop somewhere, banked turns, etc. But keep the majority similar.
  22. Iron Horse coasters tend to be top-10 quality from what we've seen. What else do you think? My pipe dreams say Mega-Lite or its Chance/Mack derivatives, but there is a host of other coasters that could go there (not as good, though.)
  23. I wouldn't consider Maverick gimmicky at all, it really is a true world class ride I was absolutely blown away by it and really wish MM would get something similar. To me a gimmicky ride is something that doesn't really offer the rider a new experience but rather a slightly altered experience (ie Floorless, Wing Coasters, Giant Inverted Boomerang) and is either a one or two trick pony. Maverick has TOO many tricks and is an incredible unique experience to be a gimmick. To me, "gimmicky" is pretty much anything unusual that can attract the GP, which may or may not be an unnecessary component. I guess you could define it in a lot of ways. Maverick just has so much uniqueness in it, including weird elements that draw the GP in towards a relatively small coaster. And I'm not insulting Maverick - it is almost certainly my #1 steel and might be my #1 overall (of course, I do live 1.5 hours from CP, so yeah.)
  24. Honestly, RMC would be better. You already have a "template" to save a few million dollars, and we know that RMC can produce some crazy contraptions. Plus, a park like CGA would do good with a small RMC. Iron Grizzly... let the pipe dreams begin! (Well, I already started them.)
  25. Mass selfie... I wonder if I could organize that at Cedar Point?
