^I know and I totally agree with all that you said. This so called 'Christian' family has become greedy and made this go way beyond rediculous. I may be wrong but isn't greed a sin? Apparently not to them. At first I had sympathy for the family and the pain their stupid-ass kid caused them and they even said they didn't blame the park. But now since they have flip-flopped and themselves become rediculous that sympathy is fading fast. I dare to say it would not surprise me in the least if the greedy family put the kid up to it so they could get millions out of the park. Oooh what a bad thing for me to say...I dont' care. Just look at how these people are acting. Too bad Six Flags can't sue THEM for having a dumb child, I would be all for that. What about the riders and witnesses that experienced this? They should sue the family for the horrific terror their idiot son caused them to be a part of. As long as it's getting this retarded they might as well do it and I would support them all the way.

What cracks me up is the part about the family saying the boy did nothing wrong, so what else has their 'little angel' done I wonder...robbed a store, shot somebody? No he didn't do anything wrong. The fence didn't kill him it was there to protect him he DID WRONG by jumping it. I wish they would see that. Did they even know their own kid?

Is this some kind of trip report or just a bunch of random SFMM pics? I wish TPR mobile would let me see these on my phone.

As horrible as this is maybe some good will come from it. Maybe other 17 or so year-olds who read or hear about this might stop and think for a second about doing something crazy like this. I would hope it would cause them to think about the consequences of their potential actions. Think about the possibility of losing their life. And if nothing else, think about the extreme pain it would cause their friends and family and I sincerely hope that if they truly cared about and loved their friends/family, that that alone would stop them from risking and losing their life for something stupid. Maybe.

Grab someone's feet, retrieve a lost item, cut in line, get back into the park, it really doesn't matter. The fence is there for a reason and they clearly ignored that nevermind the potentially dangerouus attraction behind it. And what about his 'friends?' Did they try to stop him or was it all their idea? Some friends. Is this how kids from a church group act? I would hope not. The more I think and read about it the more rediculous this becomes. Why not climb the tower on X2 and sit on the fire cannon when it goes off, it can't be dangerous after all it's just fire. This is kind of like the ignorance the kids that jammed up that water slide and caused it to collapse in Concord displayed, or what about the guy that climbed Top Gun's fence to retrieve a hat and got killed. Maybe he couldn't read the sign but that doesn't matter. WHERE IS THE COMMON SENSE NOT TO DO THE THESE THINGS? I don't care if there is a sign there or not something should be telling you 'maybe I shouldn't do this because it could kill me.'
-
A giant machine in a fenced in area...yeah that could be dangerous. So it's true then, there's no such thing as being too dumb as he proved. I feel sorry for the family but absolutely not for that kid's ignorance. It pisses me off that he was so selfish to do this and cause his family so much pain. 2 fences with off limits signs..wtf was he thinking? You can't seriously believe you can grab someone's feet as they whiz by at 50mph on a rollercoaster, but if you have no common sense then I guess anything is possible. So now what? Along with metal detectors do we need stupid detectors or dumb-o-meters to keep these ignorant fools out of parks? God how completely rediculous and stupid. Did mention stupid?
-
Just when I thought stupid people couldn't get any dumber...I'm sorry, no wait, I'm not. What could possibly posess someone to do that? 'Hey there's a giant coaster that can kill you and because of that it's fenced off. I know let's jump the fence and grab their feet as this 2 or 3 ton whatever giant machine comes screaming by.' Where is the common sense if nothing else? You can feel bad for the family, I do and that is a terrible trajedy. But I have absolutely no remorse for that kind of ignorance and selfishness... Selfish because of the pain he has caused his family for being so stupid. So now what? Along with metal detectors I guess we need some kind of stupid detector or ingorance-o-meter to prevent losers like this from doing stupid things and causing their family pain. God how stupid! Unbelievable but there it is.

The guy that painted that train posted on here about it pages ago but I don't remember his screen name and I just had to say this... Absolutely fantastic! Love the letters, detail. Beutiful. Will the other trains get this or will this be the only one? So awesome, makes me want to watch "Rollercoaster" again.

Where was the source on that quote? Thats exciting! The link was already posted on page #16 but here it is again: http://www.santaclaraweekly.com/NC/0/806.html It also mentions Cedar Fair wants to grow the park in both attractions and attendance, basically because it's better business for them but great for us because we get a better, possibly bigger park with more rides. ...now if they would just do something about Grizzly, I have an idea.... (see signature below)

"Cedar Fair, owners of Great America, holds a long term lease on the ground desired by the 49ers and has indicated they intend to use the overflow parking in their expansion plans for the future." Could it be? Could they actually be thinking about expanding the park maybe into the main lot and use the overflow as the main lot? That would be so awesome and would be really great for this park, not to mention it would open up a lot of room for more coasters. I wounder what exactly do they mean by 'expansion plans?'

Thanks for showing how beutiful this park is. Those were some fantastic shots! -
You must be joking. You have to expect long lines for it now because it's basically a 'new attraction' and I would guess it's more popular than ever. Nothing has changed? Here are some of the things that have NOT changed... -NEW paint/color scheme -NEW trains with on board audio which the old trains did not have -RECONFIGURED station with a shorter load/unload time -giant video screen in the station -THEMING! including fire effects ...just to name some of them No, I guess nothing has changed, has it?

Hmmm...that's odd, forcing you to have fun with your kids. If they feel that people going to AT need to be forced to have a fun time with their kids then obviously the park is not doing something right. If the atmosphere of the park is fun then that should encourage adults to have fun with their kids on it's own, not to impose some stupid rule about taking away PDAs. If they feel they need to stoop that low then maybe they need to do some management retooling and improve the guest's park experience and the atmosphere there. You can't force people to have fun it only happens naturally when the conditions are there. -

Brass ring Merry-Go-Rounds.

The one at SCBB is really neat. Sit on the outside, grab a ring from the dispenser, toss it into the clown's mouth and the eyes light up and a bell rings. I believe the carousel is from 1910, not sure. I do know it is older than the Giant Dipper there. The other thing about the carousel is it still has the old time automated mechanical music system which you can see thru glass and sounds quite good. Don't know if that is original or was added later. The brass ring tossing adds a fun 'spin' to the ride. -
The seats rotating quickly to the dispatch position should speed things up so that is good. I don't think they would speed up the tilting to the unload position simply because it could be unsafe, I'm sure somebody somehow would find a way to injure themselves if it was faster. All in all it sounds like a really great transformation and I can't wait to try it out.

A Knott's Rant....
Tmcdllr replied to fresh2otown's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That aside there is no excuse for asking a complete stranger (no offense) to ride with a child, which is not the reponsibilty of that stranger or the park. The child is the reponsibilty of that parent. That is totally unacceptable. Had something happened it could have easily turned very bad or even ended up in a lawsuit. And what about that parent? Leaving two kids behind, on their own, so he/she could ride a rollercoaster. No don't see any parenting skills there and also totally unacceptable. The ride ops, the parent, what's wrong with these people?
