we had a kiddie coaster back in the day, it was over in the area where American Thunder now resides. the kiddie section we have now is Bugs Bunny National forest, and its a huge climb around type attraction. there are also several kiddie rides in the surrounding area but the coaster never got moved when the rest of the kid section did I believe it started out as the rock candy express when the area was called "Goodtime Hollow" then it was changed to "ACME Gravity Powered Coaster when the area became "Loony Toons town"

Mass ride removal trends
Screamin_Eagle replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the only time I ever enjoy a stand up coaster is when it's brand new, after that they seem to go the rough road rather quickly... so I wouldn't mind seeing them go in a mass removal... -

it's fun playing the "what if" game, its ALL speculation and rumors at this point, thank several of the sites out there for their "rumors" section for generating the words.. but it just takes a few posts here and there on boards to get it circulating and to the point where it is now. I don't believe the rumor that the coaster is leaving the park, and if it IS true, I am still standing my ground saying I don't want a used coaster, this park needs a Hyper /giga coaster more than anything. and honestly I won't be content until it happens and I also won't hold my breath that it's going to happen. which makes these rumors and speculations all the more fun to go along with. besides, it makes for some interesting posts and debates in my opinion..

I keep mentioning this, but the area back past the tidal wave would be ideal for a new coaster, and it is flat enough. as far as where did the rumor of Bizarro moving came from, is circulating through different coaster sites, someone even tried to say that Six Flags has a ride rotation program between the parks...hence the removal of Bizarro... I laughed......

Mass ride removal trends
Screamin_Eagle replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally don't see the removal of rapids rides anytime soon. the one at sfstl still draws a large crowd daily with our hot summers, personally I am a fan of the rapids rides just because its a good way to cool off on a Summer day, and I really try to stay out of the water parks so Thunder River works perfect. our Log ride on the other hand doesn't produce the lines it used to in years gone by, and there are plenty of days when they are only running one side of the ride.. have to stand up for the mine train coasters though, think they need to keep them, a mine ride is a perfect introduction to roller coasters for kids growing up, I know it was my first coaster.... and its our parks original coaster... Vekoma loopers-- can go, and they can start with the Ninja at our park -
the footprint where Ninja is wouldn't be big enough for for Bizarro, its too small. and the mine train is parallel to it and I really don't want anything to happen to that. the dead area back there past Tidal Wave would be ideal, it would bring life to an already dead area. and the immediate area is pretty flat, minor grazing would have to happen but that's pretty much it in my opinion, besides that would be a perfect place for it. I would really hate to see a parking lot coaster with the available space already inside the park. there was talk of removing Tidal wave in preparation for a battle boats ride, but I guess they opted for the Sky Screamer instead. Tidal Wave really needs to go, ridership has been little to none for the past few seasons. and its old and an eye sore..

If I'm not mistaken, Goliath at SFOG was originally designed for our park, and went to the other park because our park didn't have high enough attendance numbers.. The coasters station would have been located where American Thunder was built. and yes The Eagle is the parks signature coaster and it really did put the park on the map, although both Boss and Batman and Freeze are good sized coasters, no other Coasters in the park had the same impact the Screamin Eagle did when it was installed.
-
to clarify things, I DON'T have a problem with used coasters, I do know that they will most likely repaint it, and rename it.and it will be like brand new. I have been going to the park since it's beginnings, i have seen the changes good and bad it has gone through, and I also see the park doing what it can to impress home office, to try and get those big installations, but they keep passing it by... here have a smaller family coaster, here have another one, here have a water slide.. yes we got Sky screamer, hey its a great sight seeing ride, but really not worth riding more than once...

I really don't know how I feel about getting Bizarro, if in fact the rumor is true. While our park could use some more steel, getting a hand me down coaster isn't the way to go. we have Batman the Ride, We have Ninja (bad as it may be) and we have Mr. Freeze. what we need at our park is a hyper coaster since we are probably the only park without one while all the other parks have them. a coaster to put our park back on the map as a destination park. Build something that will bring the masses out to ride. there is tons of available grounds to use to place a massive coaster, including the dead area beyond tidal wave.. and its very apparent that the company DOES have the money, look at how much they have invested in Magic Mountain in the past couple of seasons?

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Screamin_Eagle replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just watched the off season video, its pretty amazing that they put that much work into that coaster, to the point where they can just take out a whole section like the spaghetti bowl, and re do it.. as far as a ride on the Voyage, I rode it a couple of times back in 2009 and in 2010 I didn't find it a rough ride to the point of being slammed around, but It did feel like I had just got done with a work out at the gym, guessing from all the forces of the ride.. -
Help plan SFStL, HW, WoF, SFGAm trip
Screamin_Eagle replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Great America is a busy park every day of the week, but the weekends are insane! flash pass or not the lines are always long on the weekends at SFGAM. Holiday world get's busy in the summer, and July is no exception. again it will be packed on the weekend especially in the Splashin Safari Six Flags St. Louis does not necessarily close the rides in the rain, I have ridden the Eagle, Boss, Mr. Freeze all in the rain sometimes very heavy at times. They will however close the rides down if Lightning is within a certain radius of the park, and if I'm not mistaken its like a 10 mile radius. as far as the crowds go at Six Flags STL, the only time crowds are large in the park is when there is a concert going on, or if its a "Bring a friend free day" for season pass holders. otherwise ride times are always at a minimum especially during the weekdays. The water park during the summer packs the folks in all the time. sometimes it gets to having a wait to get in, and people have been known to stand in line for 45 minutes + to get into the water park. I have been in there when it's to capacity, and it's not a fun time... -
When the Boss first opened and for several years after, it was one of the roughest coasters I had ever been on, I wouldn't dare sit in the back or the front.. they re-tracked, and added supports where needed over and over again for several years. finally the work paid off and the Boss is a truly awesome coaster, and for the past few years the ride has been consistently good. As far as the Eagle goes, yes last year it ran awesome, and I'm not just saying that because I love the coaster. 2010 the Eagle rode extremely rough every time I rode it. last season it was riding great. The Screamin' Eagle has always screeched around the turns, I have been riding it since it's opening weekend back in 76, and the screaming around the turns has always been there. back in the day before the Boss existed, you could hear it coming around the 180 turn and dropping down the hill...

Well with reference to the switching out of trains, the old trains from the "Twisted Twins" from Kentucky Kingdom are sitting under Batman' The ride's storage. there was talk of them putting them on the Eagle before, maybe they will be putting them on the Eagle. they wouldn't put them on the Boss since they are the same style of cars. and the Boss incidentally has been running great for the past few seasons, the constant re-tracking and support work they have done over the years since it's opening have really improved the ride.

well we already have a family coaster, "Pandemonium" well I actually like to call American Thunder a family coaster as well, its great on thrills but geared towards the family element which is fine. yes we need a major looping coaster in a bad way, our last one was Batman. and the Ninja is absolutely horrible and needs to go... I disagree about the water slide coaster, but that's just because i really don't use the water park but hey that's just me. a top spin/ frisbee would be a great addition, and yest even a new major flat. and to the person that commented on the Sky Screamer, yes it IS a nice addition to the park, and it's offers a great view of the park, personally I don't find it awesome, I rode it a couple of times last year and its already run it's course with me. but the general population is eating it up and keeping the lines full which is a good thing..

Hidden treasures/left overs
Screamin_Eagle replied to Zingoman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
may not be a hidden treasure, but at SFSTL the store "toy circus" used to be the queue house for the "Moon Antique Cars" on the back portion of the building in the picnic grove, you can still see the archways of the building, and the concrete slab which was the loading platform is still there. this is way back when the cars used to go under the train tracks.. and the Villains cafe is the old station house for the "Adventures on the Mississippi ride" which is the only thing left of that rides existence.. -
And that's a bad thing why? When I seen this announcement I was wondering how many people were going to complain about the water park getting something again. I think SFStL has a pretty awesome water park, and this will be a great addition. Heck, on several occasions, my wife and I took the 2 hour drive there just to go to the water park! that's all good if you use the water park, not everyone DOES use it. I go to the park for the thrill element, I go to the lake for swimming enjoyment....

wow sarcasm.... well the way I see it, there is NOTHING wrong with shorter lines, makes for a great day. however lower attendance in the park keeps the park from getting the good installations, ( hyper coasters, state of the art coasters) and keeps us getting the smaller "try to build up the attendance" rides and attractions.
