  1. Over at SFAFans, many have said that the historical society has turned over the mansion to the park to do as they wish with it. Allegedly the park pleaded with the historical society to perform renovations on the property as the park couldn't touch it. The historical society decided not to pump any money into the mansion, stripped it of it's protection status and turned it over to the park. Allegedly. I don't believe that story myself as I've never heard of any historical society or government or whoever actually has the protection of the mansion just willy nilly turning over something that old in that fashion. They could be right, I could be wrong. In my opinion, it just doesn't sound feasible.
  2. Only if I could wear a jockstrap and a protective cup to protect my manhood.
  3. Does the park have 500 something acres of land? Yes. Can they build on it all? No. I know for a FACT that they cannot build along the south side of the property within 2000 feet of Route 214. There are variances of different lengths for each of the surrounding neighborhoods to the north and the east of the property. There is a variance, if I'm not mistaken of about a half mile from the power lines that run through the west side of the property. And that's not even taking into consideration all of the environmental protections that park has due to the wetlands and the creek that run through the park. Let's compare apples to apples and not toss out generalizations for the sake of the discussion. Re: National Harbor Hate to break it to you, National Harbor is NOT a tourist destination. At least not yet. Let's say what Disney will do with the property they acquired in that area last year. National Harbor was built to rival DC's still relatively new convention center. National Harbor is attracts large scale meetings and conventions and they use their location as one of their top selling points. National Harbor is not easily accessible to a Metro station and the touristy things that are DC are not a distraction to potential clients for meetings and conventions. I have an extensive background in special events and meeting planning and I can tell you honestly that even though there may very well be a small leisure market segment at National Harbor, there is not enough to warrant the set up costs and transportation services to and from National Harbor. From 2001-2008 I was part of the leadership team (#2 in command) that planned and produced Washington D.C.'s largest annual event with over 300,000 people in attendance each year.
  4. ^Here's a real inside the box idea...(see what I did there) What if they put a spinning coaster in the dark. Now that could be a good time!
  5. ^What's so gay about beach sandals and protein shakes?
  6. It looks like Mr. Six threw up all over the El Toro train...
  7. That's where you are wrong, on the internet NO-ONE is straight Does that mean I have to post some gay a$$ picture of myself to prove I'm really gay?
  8. ^^Please no Dark Krap for SFA. I'd take a clone of SFGAdv's Skull Mountain before I'd take a Mouse in a Box.
  9. Than message boards as we know them wouldn't exist. LOL
  10. Park President John Winkler told me on the record last season that SF Inc thinks SFA already has too much wood. Don't count on another wooden coaster for SFA.
  11. Whats wrong with (Premiers). They seem like good rides to me. Joker's Jinx at SFA spent it's longest downtime in 2006 when it needed a part. But ever sense then it has been running fine. In think it could use the same prep that Poltergeist gets, given the fact that Poltergeist is a lot faster than Jinx. But other than that, I could possibly see a lot of unique attractions coming to Six Flags parks with Alexander Weber as CEO. Paramount's parks tried to build different things, to let them stand alone from other theme parks. Volcano, was very unique, given the fact that they only built one. You never know, maybe one day we will see a (Premier) suspended launch. Thats if the company was willing to pay them the money to design something like that. I don't understand why you have such a hardon for Premier. They're no better/worse than any other manufacturer. My guess is he'll wind up in the follow up to the documentary with the woman who feels emotionally attached to the 1001 Nights ride at Knoebels. But only this time it'll be at Joker's Jinx expense.
  12. I'm sticking with multiple personality disorder for you.
  13. Well in the past couple of months since starting this thread I've become a little more seasoned in what I like and don't like. I'm starting to fade on the Perdomos. I purchased a box last month and half of them didn't taste right. I splurged for an expensive cigar and really really liked it. The cigar was an El Patron Serie 1926. OMFG! I'd smoke three a day if I could afford $30 a pop. LOL Also recently discoverd the brand "ACID". Sitting in the shop smoking with da boys and someone asks, "What are you smoking?" and I reply "Acid" everyone usually laughs. Acid cigars are infused with flavors so they don't have a strong cigar flavor.
  14. Steve, imo Roar has become increasingly rough over the past few years. Many of the fanboys had hoped that Roar would improve after some off-season maintenance was performed and sections of track were replaced. I post on the SFAFans forum as well and most of the posters there say they can see a difference. I can't. For me, after the fly by of the on-ride photo the rest of the ride is unbearable. Hurler at KD and Predator at DL are worse imo. Roar isn't far from them. Roar's tunnel was never completed because of the fire code and the original plans did not call for it. Re: Spinning Coaster placement. The reason that the Rainbow slides haven't been ripped out yet though they've been defunct for years is some sort of environmental protection regulation. There is a small stream that runs very near those slides. The bridge just past Main Street towards the Theater crosses over the stream. I have heard that if the park were to rip out the slides without replacing the slides with an attraction, the park would be unable to use that plot of land for future use. With Around the World in Eighty Days being ripped out and moved into Thomas Town, there is a nice little plot of land between the two attractions. With Tony Hawk's Half Pipe located directly next to the Rainbow slides, placing a Tony Hawk coaster next to the half pipe would be a nice tie in to one another. Not to mention that the park could place a Tony Hawk based gift shop at the ride's exit to sell items for this particular brand.
  15. Don't worry, I already think you are a hypocrite. SFA publicly PRIDES itself on having a family-friendly Fright Fest. If you don't like it go to King's Dominion, go to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Florida, go to Busch Gardens Tampa or any of the other parks that cater to the older kids/adults very well. SFA is PACKED during Fright Fest as it is. Why should a park that advertises a family friendly event that IS drawing large crowds weekend after weekend after weekend spend additional money for more effects? If it's not broke, don't fix it. Listen, I know I've been picking on you a lot over the past couple of days. I have the same passion for SFA as you do. I grew up around Wild World, Adventure World, SFA. I want this park to succeed and make changes for the positive. But unlike you I have realistic expectations for the park. I've come to realize that SFA will never be Magic Mountain or Great Adventure. And I'm fine with that. I like the direction SFA is moving in as there have been lots of improvement to not only their guest services, but also improvements to the infrastructure of the park and basic off season improvements that were being neglected under Burke and company. I feel like you are trying to fight an uphill battle. I believe you really think a lot of what you post is really going to happen. Once you realize you are living in a fantasy world, you won't be disappointed. Operating a seasonal amusement park is not like playing Rollercoaster Tycoon.
  16. Obviously Flash Pass is creating additional revenues for the parks since the program is being phased into ALL the parks. If they get rid of the Flash Pass, how are they going to afford to enclose Joker's Jinx?
  17. Because you know better than he does, right?
  18. While I've never met you in person, you don't strike me as the fanny pack type. Say it ain't so... Are you in the Fanny Pack Mafia?
  19. Amen! I agree with everything you wrote here. Flashback four years and many enthusiasts and the community as a whole was stunned that SF brought in an executive with zero operational park experience. Many people were upset and thought that this move could be the start of the end of Six Flags. I was one of those people and I have no issue four years later eating crow. I was wrong. I think it's only fair to say "THANK YOU" to Mark Shapiro for everything he has done for Six Flags. I'll admit while I have no knowledge of Al Weber and what has was and was not responsible for, it sounds like he has the credentials for the job. I hope he can continue on the path that Mark Shapiro started.
  20. The coaster doesn't neccesarily have to be themed to Tony Hawk. I'd say price tag for starters. What kind of cookie cutter B&M would you put at SFA? The region that SFA sits in (VA, NJ, PA) is already saturated with B&M hypers, Inverts, and floorless coasters. A stand up? That fad has come and gone! If anything I'd like to see a traditional looper like Kumba but I really don't think SFA will be going in that direction for a long time. Perfect seque for my next point. Debatable? Over the latter half of the past decade, the industry in the States started to trend to focus on families. Adding family attractions to the parks brings more income to the park that the coaster crowd, the teens, the young adults, the college students simply don't have. Parks are a business and businesses operate to make money. Simple economics. I've schooled you many times in this thread about why parks continue to stay the course on family attractions. So in the first part of this post, you gripe that we might get a Tony Hawk spinning clone and in the very same post your are questioning why don't they add a coaster? How many personalities do you have? If you've ever been to SFNE, the Tony Hawk up there always has a line and is VERY popular with the general public. Not to mention that this coaster fits the "tween" market that Shapiro stated the park would receive in the future...until he was axed today. As Capitalize already mentioned, a spinning coaster would be a unique addition to the market. A Big Spin isn't intense enough that families won't ride. It's like a Tilt-A-Whirl on track!
