  1. ^ Trust is much appreciated, and I'm honestly a bit disappointed, too. However, the big knock on CP years ago was that all they cared about was building coasters, and they've done a pretty good job the last 10 years of spreading out their attractions to a wider audience. So at least they've gotten into a more sensible business plan. Hopefully 2013 will be the year of #18!
  2. My goodness. Listen dude, I am well aware of park policies and procedures. Believe me. But why do you think in three years of correctly predicting CP's new attractions, I've never named my source? Never even given a gender or any clues as to who it is? Any why do you think I still receive this information? To be quite honest, I knew that CP was building a log flume as early as May 2008. A LOT of people did. It had originally been planned for 2009, but was delayed a year for economic reasons. And this is right around the time last year that I found out exactly how tall Windseeker was going to be. Stuff like this isn't some "big secret." I'm happy for you that you expect them to build some big flat or coaster for next year, I honestly was thinking the same thing until I found out otherwise just a few days ago. But that's just not going to happen. Sure, they'll make plenty of capital expenditures and improvements (the rest of MF's paint job comes to mind), but as far as attractions go, it's going to be Dinosaurs Alive. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly come back to this very post and admit that I'm wrong. But I don't really have to worry about that, because I'm not. So this will be my last post regarding any of that. What's funny to me is that if Lance Hart of Screamscape had posted the exact same thing that I did, people would take it as gospel, even though he doesn't do anything differently than me, which is get information from inside sources and spread them.
  3. I realize you don't realize my connections with CP, so I'll just let you believe what you want to believe. Edit: ^And Andrew, I'm not entirely sure if you follow/post on PointBuzz, but the last two years I've correctly and accurately predicted both Shoot the Rapids and Windseeker, right down to the specific stats. And both of those came from the same exact sources that told me about next year. Once again, I know the right people who know the right stuff. For anyone who knows anything about me on this site, they all know I don't post rumors for the sake of posting rumors. That's not how I roll. This isn't something I heard from the dude at the Pink's hot dog stand, this is rock solid, 100% reliable information.
  4. ^Yep, making between $10K-$20K per day. I was honestly shocked to hear that myself.
  5. ^^I still maintain that the changes made to 305 were almost completely because of maintenance costs, and not because of "rider comfort." Obviously, the park would never come out and say that, but I guarantee you they were much more concerned with their bottom line than rider comfort.
  6. ^^It's a animatronic walk through attraction at Kings Island this year. I'm not even sure of all the specifics behind it, but I know it's at least somewhat educational. It's $5 per person to experience it, as well, and from what I was told, Kings Island is making five figures a day on it. The contract they have with the manufacturer is they split ticket sales 50/50, and KI is still making a killing off of it. So nobody should be surprised if more CF parks start getting these in the next few years, because it's a family-friendly attraction (and kids LOVE dinosaurs).
  7. ^I was just commenting on how he seems to think I said a new attraction for next year was planned but cancelled in lieu of the dinosaur exhibit. I never said any new attraction was cancelled, I simply said that Dinosaurs Alive would be the new attraction and that Paddlewheel Excursions (along with Terror Island) will be retired as a result. I really don't think any ride was/is planned for next year.
  8. While that may have been true the park it was in didn't & SFI made a decision early on to "GL" or "SFAW" the place. Well that and the fact that the ride ripped off a girl's legs. No amount of positive reinforcement from the park could have saved that ride in the GP's eyes.
  9. Yeah, but nobody said that anything was cancelled.
  10. ^They might have concepts and ideas mapped out 5 years in advance, but they surely won't have an exact manufacturer picked out until much closer to the time it's going to be built. It's not like they had Mondial picked out for Windseeker back in 2006, because Mondial hadn't even started making them that far back. Same goes with Shoot the Rapids. As far up as late 2008/early 2009, they still hadn't decided on a manufacturer for it yet. They certainly have plans, but if it's 5 years in advance, most of those plans are very basic.
  11. ^Probably not, but it still makes me laugh. Marketing is a funny, funny thing.
  12. I still find it hilarious that the logo in front of the ride has B&M track.
  13. I have absolutely no reason to lie, that's why. I know plenty of people at CP that confirmed everything I said, and I wouldn't have posted it if it weren't true.
  14. Dinosaurs Alive, on MF Island (Probably using the same paths as Terror Island) and retiring Paddlewheel so they can leave the bridge? I REALLY hope not! This is unfortunately correct. Terror Island will also be retired for the time being. That is, unless something changes. HOWEVER! Apparently Kings Island is making a FORTUNE off of the Dinosaur exhibit, which is why Cedar Fair is so interested in installing them in more parks. Seems as if we'll have to wait until at least 2013 for a new coaster at Cedar Point.
  15. ^Ha. No, but I will say it's not a ride, and it's educational. And hopefully this one doesn't catch on fire, or it might melt the middle portion of MF. Edit: And a long-time attraction at the park will have to be retired as a result of this new addition to the park (at least for the time being).
  16. No and no. It might have something to do with what Kings Island has gotten recently.
  17. Spent a beautiful day at the park today, took some really, really cool night shots of Windseeker. Thought the ride was pretty neat, gives you an excellent view of everything, but it's not thrilling or anything. Pictures will be posted in a few days. And in separate news, would anyone like to know what the new attraction for 2012 will be?
  18. Walking through the Gemini queue today, I overheard a girl say, "Yeah, this isn't that bad, it's not even as big as Maverick." Gemini is 20 feet taller. ------- Also, while riding the train past Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Kid points: "What ride is that?" Mom: "I don't know......" 3rd person: "I think it's Blue Streak." ------- While in line for Wicked Twister, a kid describes the ride experience, "You keep going faster and faster and faster, then you slow down!"
  19. Obviously it was a sabotage attempt by Intamin engineers for being snubbed by BGW both for the drop tower and 2012 coaster.
  20. ^People are freaking out because Lance on Screamscape freaked out. Had he not posted that video and ranted about it, nobody would have thought twice about it.
  21. More often than not, if there are empty seats on a train, the operators will announce on the PA that there is an empty seat(s) for anyone that wants to ride right now. If no one comes forward, they just send it out. I will say that single rider lines, while they do work most of the time, can be troublesome.....make that VERY troublesome. As Carowinds found out last year with Intimidator, you have to staff at least one extra person to control the station entrance (which CP has almost completely stopped doing at all coasters). You also have the problem of people who don't understand the concept of the single rider line jumping in and thinking the wait will be "shorter" because there aren't as many people. When the single rider line opens, that virtually eliminates all odd numbers from the regular line (unless there are groups of 3, 5, etc.). So it has the possibility of making you wait a REALLY long time, which creates lots of complaints for the park. And then finally, you'll have entire families get in the single rider line and then raise all holy hell when they can't sit together, which generates even more complaints. Yes, single rider lines can help capacity and shorten the line up some of the time, but for a lot of parks, it's way more trouble than it's worth. I mean, Carowinds only ended up using the single rider line on weekends last year for that very reason.
