^What he said. And let me clarify a bit. While on the tour, I basically just asked him how much he was authorized to tell us about the new coaster for next year. He said, "Well, Verbolten is the name, and everything you've seen leaked on sites like Screamscape and BGWfans is accurate." And I asked him, "So Verbolten IS the name?" and he said, without hesitation, "Yes, unless they change it at the last second similar to the way Cheetah Hunt or Griffon were." (I guess Griffon was originally intended to be named "Phoenix") The guy wasn't some random park employee spouting off information, he's someone who does these tours on a regular basis and probably has a lot of access to information. From working in parks, I can tell you that it's not even remotely far fetched that he has plenty of information about Verbolten. The last few tidbits he told us about it was that "it will be a multi-launch family coaster, designed that way to fill the void left by Big Bad Wolf," and that "what happens in the building is what will set it apart from everything else in the country." He clarified by saying that what has been speculated so far is true (referring to the drop section), and that there's going to be a lot more that happens in there, as well. Believe me, don't believe me, that's exactly what he said. There are several members on here that will confirm it.

^Depending on the time of day, 95 can be the most miserable road in the universe to drive here in northern VA. From DC to Fredericksburg is basically bumper to bumper from about 3ish-7ish every week day. It's obviously the opposite in the morning. So if you were rolling through here in the middle of the afternoon, avoiding 95 was probably wise.

Theme Park Review in JAPAN! 2011

Yakitori looks delicious, and the U.S. should have bullet trains. -
^^^For me, the Platinum Passes for Busch and CF have been much, much better deals. I've been to KD at least 6 or 7 times this year, I'll be going to CP in a couple weeks, and Dorney in August. I won't have had to spend a dime on parking or admission since April 2 on any of that. My two-year Busch pass is something like $12.50 a month for the two years and will have gotten me free preferred parking and admission to both Busch Gardens parks and SWO countless times during that span, not to mention discounts on everything I've purchased in the park (and the quality of those parks is well worth the extra money). If I felt like visiting any SF park as much as I visit either of those chains, the amount of parking would have added up WAY past what I paid for either of them. I would gladly pay extra if they had a combo season/parking pass that included all parks in the chain. At SFGAd, their regular season pass is $100 (which doesn't include parking). At KD, you get the VIP season pass (which includes parking) for $100. Even if you got the parking pass for SFGAd, you'll have spent way more than what you did at KD just for the passes. And then if you spent the $165 for the Platinum Pass, that will have only been something like $20-$25 more than the SFGAd one, which doesn't get you free parking at other SF parks like the CF Platinum Pass does. Edit: And when considering the GP, we pretty much have to safely ascertain that hardly any of them will be getting the Platinum Pass at a CF park. Most of the people I know around here that go to KD pretty much stick to the VIP pass, because they probably couldn't even tell you where another CF park is, much less visit one. I would imagine it's the same at any other location around the country. I'd actually like to see the stats on what kind of people get Platinum Passes, my guess is mostly enthusiasts buy them as opposed to the GP. So, if comparing the VIP pass at KD to SFA or SFGAd, it's a WAY better deal than either park (even if SFA is a tad cheaper, the difference in park quality once again is the trump card).

^And the worst thing about the parking passes is you can't use them at any park except the one you bought it at. Which is another area both SeaWorld parks and CF have SF blown out of the water: affordable, all-encompassing season passes that can be used across the chain for both admission and parking. Not to mention the discounts you get with both passes. Sure, SF gives you that little coupon book, but a large chunk of those are a bitch to use because on the "bring a friend free" days, the parks end up slammed and it's a waste of time to even be there. Lo-Q continues to be the only thing that SF has over the rest of the chains.....

^Every time I've been there, it's had a very healthy crowd. They also just built a pretty impressive coaster last year, which shows they're probably not hurting that much financially. Just because the water room in Noah's Ark isn't working this year (how old is it?) and they're probably removing Pitt Fall doesn't mean the park is in any trouble. It's normal happenings for any attractions. No rides last forever, and they'll at lease replace Pitt Fall with something new and exciting in the future. Who knows what lies ahead for Noah's Ark, but I'm sure when the time comes, they'll make a wise decision with it. -

I would think Six Flags Mexico has a pretty high elevation being in Mexico City, but probably not 8500 feet above sea level. -

I had to leave the contest (congrats to the winner!), but I would like to say that after he said "higher" than 100 feet, I knew he meant elevation. When he said it had OTSRs, wasn't German or Swiss, was a clone and portable, and didn't have more than 2 inversions, I almost immediately figured it to be a Pinfari Looping Star. Unfortunately, I had to leave and didn't have the time to track this one down. Until next time......... -

^Well, if you carry a ballpoint pen around like I do, you can unlock it yourself when the ride ends. -
Never actually threw up from riding, but I've definitely felt like it before. Marathoning is much tougher for me now than it used to be, just depends on the ride. The only coasters that make me feel nauseous on a regular basis are Boomerangs. The backwards loop KILLS me. For this reason, I try to sit towards the front of the train to avoid the insane backwards g's that occur in the loop. I've also found that, as someone else said, tensing my mid-section up at the entry of the loop coupled with closing my eyes helps with the nausea. As far as spinning flats go, if I ride a ton of them in a row, I'll start feeling nauseous. That happened to me once while I was working at AA and I rode all the flats back to back (and we ran REALLY long programs there), and it also happened to me last year at Knoebels, specifically immediately after riding Downdraft.
