  1. In one sitting, (not getting off): Magnum, 12 times, in 1-3, as part of a photo shoot. Couldn't walk right the rest of the day. Raptor, 12 times, for the same reason as above. In one day: Mantis, a little over 50 times. Mind Eraser at Darien Lake, 37 times, as part of a bet to see who could last longer on it. Lifetime: Mantis, over 300, not sure on an exact number.
  2. Seriously--and I say this with love--Cedar Point has been "out of room" for at least 10 years. And in that time, they've built four new coasters (two of which were the world's largest), two giant flat rides, and now this. Let it go, folks. Obviously not. Where did Maverick, TTD, Wicked Twister, and now STR all wind up? Open spaces. I hardly call MF the world's tallest anyway. Steel Dragon opened what, ten days later to take the title? Well, for TTD, Maverick and WT, I wouldn't really call them open spaces. Things were there before, and were moved/removed.
  3. Might as well.... 1. El Toro - SFGAdv 2. Mantis - CP 3. Maverick - CP 4. Phantom's Revenge - KW 5. Wildcat - HP 6. Bizarro - SFGAdv 7. Dominator - GL/KD 8. Ride of Steel - DL 9. Flight Deck/Vortex - KI/CW 10. Raptor - CP
  4. Awesome, someone else who loves Mantis. Was my #1 since '96 until I rode El Toro this year. Back when I worked there in 2002, I ended up riding it over 40 times during an employee ERT. Maybe 10-20 people turned out for it, it was fantastic.
  5. Because 99% of visitors don't care about/will not notice the color scheme of a coaster in Ohio compared to this.
  6. My first coaster (kiddie or otherwise) was the Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach. It was only a few weeks before Hurricane Hugo damaged it back in '89. I'm pretty sure I was still 6 years old at the time of our trip. I was a good 3"-4" shorter than the height requirement, but the operator didn't seem to care. My dad and I rode in the front, and he had to pin me down to keep me from flying out from the airtime. I had to grow another year or two to ride any other big coasters, but after that, no one could keep me away from them. My first looper was the Viper at Darien Lake.
  7. Waldameer on the 8th, if all goes as planned.
  8. Agreed. To this day, Maxair is the only ride to make me nauseous. Out of just plain fear for my safety, any "High Roller" commonly found at fairs.
  9. I have to agree with Robb. Back in June, a friend and I drove 6-7 hours to Great Adventure from Rochester. This also happened to be opening day for Bizarro. The park was pretty well mobbed, mainly from bus groups. We purchased the regular Flash Pass, and it was worth every cent. For the first 2 hours, it seemed to be in Gold mode, as all of our waits were less than 15 minutes, allowing us to bypass a 1.5 hour wait for El Toro, a 1 hour wait for Bizarro, and 1.25 hour wait for Superman, each multiple times. After that, the times started to increase, but with that extra time we ate, went to the arcade, rode some flats and hit a few other coasters with smaller lines. Without it, we would have spent half our day waiting for 3 rides, making the 13 hour round trip drive not worth it. The only gripe I have is that I think our bot could shut down Nitro. Each time we reserved, it went down for a decent amount of time, and we never got to ride. Upon making a new reservation for something else, it would start back up. When by yourself or with one other person, I feel the price is a bit steep. we had purchased discount entry passes (ours were $25), so it was a bit easier to swallow.
  10. Hey there! I'm Jason from Rochester, NY. I've been lurking around here for years, and finally decided to register. Even though I live about 4 miles from Seabreeze, I consider Darien Lake to be my home park. I'm cursed with never getting a credit on the Silver Comet at Martin's Fantasy Island, as it's been down the three times I've been there.
