Superman's Top Hat Complete photos
djrappa replied to rabid disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Similarly to what Ian said I am looking forward to hitting Knotts at the start of November so that I can compare Xcel to Superman when it opens. The top hat really is the same as SR except that ours will be travelled in reverse -
If it's anything like end of october last year the crowds at Disney will be NON EXISTANT! I have photos of 2mins wait times for Indy and 0 MINS for PIRATES!

Christmas Elissa??? NO WAY! Big, big, big mistake to visit out parks at this time of year... About the only time these parks are rediculously crowded is the December/Janruary period. If you were looking to get down here over your winter much wiser to come down at the start of february as the parks should be more or less dead. Just a minor heads up if you didn't already know
-
haha yes in you're particular case I would be advising against it
-
I plan to dig this thread back from the dead closer to the time but would be cool to see who WILL actualy be in town from the 3rd to the 10th of November, perhaps you could meet up with the crazy Aussies

How many times the same ride in a day ?
djrappa replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In my two visits to the farm I wrode Xcel 50 times on the first visit and 40 times on the second. But yes, many have told me I'm crazy. -
We offered a bribe to the Ops on the last day of Wonderland in order to get the last ride but they let us make sure we go it anyhow Stupid Ops wouldn't take our hundred bucks to let us take another ride by ourselves though... not that bright a move when you consider they effectively lost their jobs that day when the park closed

Which Disneyland Attraction are you?
djrappa replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got the bloody Tram! -
Unfortunately I have not managed to get to any other parks with Hypers beside SFMM. Doesn't look like that is changing this year either as I am only hitting Disneyworld and Universal on the East Coast... Fix that next year I guess Having said that I am not someone who likes something simply because I have nothing else to compare it to. I didn't find Goliath to be mind blowing but did find it to be a pretty damn good ride on it's own merits. I'm sure it doesn't compare to some of the others but if you are judging it on its own merits (and you really have no choice if you haven't ridden another) I have no doubts you will find it really good. I mean hey I still LOVE our Aroow Lopscrew here at Sea World and how many other coasters are there out there that put it to shame!

I'm with those that say it depends on how well you know the ride and or the breakdown. Tower of Terror here at DW much like S:TE has common breakdowns. Usually much of the que will leave where as I know that it's either an overshoot of the station or something on the track (read peacock) most of the time. I've had this on Xcel a few times too and you usually know whether it's going to open back up quickly or not. ...fun to watch the Ops have to start polishing the train too
-
Kewl, thanks for that. Sounds like you share my sentiments in regards to our Sea World as well. Just a nice park to spend some time in. Will keep an eye out for everything you sugested... Gotta love work giving you an excuse to come to Orlando

European Readers - HELP!
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe you need to hit up the soundtrack from this year's Eurovision Song Contest! Few extremely European tracks from that list... well very eurovision anyway -
Forgive the double post but what can you do Thanks for the search tip, had a good read through some of the past threads. Couple questions just to get your opinion... Do you have any insight on what you think are some things that shouldn't be missed at SW, Universal or WDW? Obviously the rides are there, we know of most of them but things like places to eat or shows and stuff that shouldn't be missed would be handy to know. I kind of know as much about the place as is possible from reading but obviously don't have the 'have to have experienced it' knowledge like I now have for like Disneyland and the rest of the Socal parks. Thanks
-
Really? I hadn't remembered reading anything before, then again I probably didn't have a reason too Thanks for that, I'll certainly take a look around... I know how anoying it can be to read and answer the same questions time and time again Good question though, if anyone is planning to be in town that time of year give us a shout. I know last year quite a few WC folk were even heading to Vegas for the actual LDI show...
-
Being the apparent geniuses that you two seem to be in getting the most out of the minimum at parks thought I would see if you have any inside hints or tips for this time of year? I'll be making the long haul up from down here for the LDI trade show in Orlando and will be spending the first week or so of November before that at Disneyworld and Universal... Plan is at this stage to stay at Coronado on site at Disney. Have you guys got any advice on things not to miss or ways to maximise value whilst in town? My first time over to the east coast so I'm very fresh on the place. Thanks, AND thanks for the last few weeks of great reading.

The Official "TPR In Europe" Ongoing TR Thread.
djrappa replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Yeah we have the ext SLC with the helix at Movieworld. Funny thing is after the first drop the helix is probably the best and smoothest part of the ride -

Hey Robb Great trip reports, certainly a good thread to be reading from down here. Interesting to see that you guys rode the water/dark ride at Movie Park. This ride is said to be a clone of Bermuda Triangle down here from my Seaworld Australia video... -
Most camera should have a firewire port for this purpose. Usually it should simply be a case of connecting the dv cam to your computer via a firewire cable (as long as your computer has a firewire port). Most editing software will also handle the capture in for your. Using this method also keeps the signal completely digital.

Song title - Sea World Australia Video
djrappa replied to Android's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Funny that, my father told me he had heard the sample used in that track from another song, which turned out to be the one you mentioned. I had no idea it was a remix at all until a few months ago and this track has been around for years. This particular track is tittled "Sunchime" by Dario G. Happy Hunting. -
Yep the one at the park that was formaly Movie World Germany is a direct copy of the one at Sea World. The park is pretty nifty when it comes to their water rides. There is a member at roller-coaster.com.au (not trying to plug the site, don't fret robb) that works at the park which has a great history on these rides. They actualy knocked off the viking flume from an arrow design which they saw in the states donkeys years ago which had the price tag of about 1mil. Pretty sure they knocked ours up for about 200 grand! Something I should have added is the Arrow Loop and Corckscrew the park has is probably the smoothest coaster I have ever ridden. That is not to say I've only ridden rough coasters elewhere this thing is surprisingly silky smooth. A big hats off to the parks maintenance dept. given the coaster is as old as me. Still my favourite park, it's nothing AMAZING but as a package it's pretty much the perfect park.
