  1. Is this a prototype model? Was it built by an American company?
  2. Is the first drop as steep as or steeper than 90 degrees?
  3. The first, second, and third areas sound reasonable. Not the most expensive areas to keep up and there are major attractions that will still draw people to the park without any major loss.
  4. Quick BGW update! Verbolten construction is full force right now. The back area is completely clear and you might be able to make out the possible path the coaster will be taking. The bumper car house/Feshaus smoking area is covered in a green mesh, making it a bit harder to see (but keeping out the sun). Maintenance crews were standing on Mach Tower today working on the brake fins. I don't know exactly what's happening over there.
  5. Quick Mach Tower update... Opening is *hopefully* scheduled for 3-5 weeks from this week. The park is shooting for mid-July at the latest. At least that's what we're supposed to tell everyone. A maintenance crew was in the catch car, working on the brakes over the weekend so something must be going down (no pun intended) over there. Not much is going around Verbolten aside from more dirt moving. See you this Sunday!
  6. So GAm doesn't count anymore? Like a broken record
  7. Quick park update... Mach Tower's been quiet this weekend, which means that the missing parts are still on their way (hopefully). As for Verbolten, BBW's area is now treeless so you can peer toward DF's old gift shop/station if you wait in line for bumper cars. Seems like Busch is wasting no time getting this area ready for 2012. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a matter of time before construction walls go up around there. I cross my fingers for Mach Tower opening soon.
  8. ^ I can't speak for bratty 13-year olds, but I can say you can block ads with ad-blocking software. It's free for pretty much all major browsers and it's a lot less annoying.
  9. ^ So how come SFStL isn't included in the limited partnerships like the other two original SF parks?
  10. How is that a bad thing again? A family coaster that kids can ride with adults that looks fun and has a few inversions? The ride looks perfectly fine the way it is.
  11. The other day I was talking to one of my supervisors and we went onto the topic of theme park brochures. He told me about Sesame Place and how much the park has changed. I went online and did a quick search of what the park looked like in the 80s and couldn't really find much footage. Then I found this ... This is basically news footage of Sesame Place's grand opening along with two commercials. It looked like the park was mainly just a large playground with a building where they'd host computer games. The water slides seem to have been added later. I also managed to find a bit of info about the Sesame Place theme park in Texas, which closed in the mid-80s because of competition from the surrounding theme parks. That park has long been demolished and it's now a Wal-Mart Supercenter. EDIT: I can't get the video to embed into the site so I'll just post a link.
  12. KD is about 30 minutes north of Richmond and probably 45 min outside of Fredericksburg. There isn't much around unless you drive to those cities. BGW's located in a very touristy area so you'll be able to find tons of things to do in the area. You've got the Historic Triangle plus tons of shopping. Virginia Beach is about an hour and a half to two hours from Williamsburg. VA's a great state for history buffs, so if you're into that kind of stuff, you should check out the battlefields, plantations, and museums around the area.
  13. Just got back from BGW. I've got good news to come with it too! Mach Tower's being worked on. There was a construction crew on the catch car working on the brake fins and higher-ups walking around the area all day. Now on to the great news! Verbolten has begun construction today! Walls have been placed all around BBW's old station. You can see what's going on back there by standing around the kiddie bumper cars queue and I don't recall seeing construction walls around the smoking area near DF's old spot. I'm very sure this will change once construction really takes off and track/building pieces appear on site. BBW's station is unblocked (benches and trash cans have been moved to the side, making a path toward the station) aside from the walls preventing guests from walking into the queue so you can take a quick peek through. I hope to see everyone at BGW Bash later today! Stop by Oktoberfest rides and say hey! Just wear something TPR related. Yes
  14. Bad news everyone, Mach Tower's scheduled opening has been pushed back to an undetermined date. I'll keep you posted on any changes.
  15. The park seems to be in deep trouble just continuing operations so I'll stick with Side B since it seems to be the most reasonable of the two.
  16. ^ I'm pretty sure he'll do something about it. Thank you! This park has been an amazing experience and I'm especially glad to see you've given this park a spectacular ending. Having followed some of your other parks, I've noticed that you sometimes have a habit of leaving us hanging . I'm very excited to see your next project(s) and I'll definitely be sure to follow them to the very end like I did with this one. Keep up the amazing work!
  17. ^ The park didn't really make any money while operating so unless the new owners can completely turn the place around, it's just gonna sit there collecting dust. The people visiting the park seem to be more interested in the rides than anything else.
  18. Opening has been pushed back two weeks from Memorial weekend.
  19. Nobody's posting here because nobody has anything to offer. Plus it's really early in the season right now.. I'm pretty sure once the season really kicks in and people start traveling, everyone will start posting stuff again.
  20. Texas Splashdown seems interesting. Hell the park itself looks interesting! It looks like AB really spoiled the park in the 90s with Steel Eel and Great White and then stopped after the 2000s. BTW: How does Great White compare to the other Batman clones? - Can't wait to see your next update
  21. Fast food joints all over Hampton Roads and Eastern North Carolina carry coupons that give you discounts. Some hotels in the area also carry package deals with BGW/WCUSA. Hope to see you there!
  22. This is probably one of the coolest looking water parks I've seen. I especially love that Lego-themed splash house. I actually never knew Legoland had a water park until hearing about this TR. Sorta makes me more excited for Legoland East.
  23. BGW Weekend report... Mach Tower was testing on and off literally all day yesterday. I saw no testing today though. The ride moves VERY slowly up the tower and the catch car moves very slowly down. When the car reaches the top, it basically just sat there for a few minutes. Because this is just testing, I'm pretty sure everything will be a bit sped up once the ride opens in order to keep capacity high for the ride. No rotating car like the commercial though :\ The catch car decoration looks great! The parks may be a little different under a new name, but BGW is still a wonderful park. BGW had less than a month to not only build the ride, but test it, have it pass inspections, fix all the bugs in the ride, test it with people on the ride, and plan for a grand opening. I'd say BGW handled this whole situation extremely well. On top of that, Blackstone is really investing far more capital in their parks and if you really look at the companies Blackstone is leaning to for their new rides (Mack, Moser, Intamin, Zierer), you can tell that they're taking more risks with building their new rides. I'd say 99% of all theme parks in the world face this problem with their new rides. Griffon literally broke down every other day during it's first few weeks of operation, combined with one train operations, and 2 hour + waits (and that's a B&M coaster at an AB park). Seeing this is brand new technology Moser and BGW are working with (this is only Moser's second major drop tower) there's gonna be major problems. Couple that with the typical new ride problems and I'm pretty sure BGW pushed back the opening date for a good reason. - In a nutshell, I'd rather have a delayed opening and a ride in (almost) perfect operating order for the grand opening over an on time opening plagued with breakdowns and complaints, especially for a ride like Mach Tower.
  24. I feel really sick and tired of natural disasters. Can't we just have a day when there isn't a tornado or flood or earthquake somewhere in the world?
