  1. I agree with you. Sure, it would be interesting, but there would be a bit of whiplash involved with it. While I don't think it needs a completely brand new launch system, I do think they can remake the LSMs so that they're more power effecient but are even more powerful. I really don't think a backward launch is practical, as it puts more strain on the people and restraints. Along with that, there would be a lot of aerodynamic problems because of the shape of the vehicle, as well as weight issues, as the vehicle appears to be rear heavy. Don't take this as fact, but it's just my observation. That's why they'd need to design a brand new vehicle in order to launch backwards, and I'm not sure if that's practical for SFMM. Just to restate what *I* think is possible, I think they might: Repaint the ride: not necessarily one side Bizarro, one side Superman, but just a repaint to make it look good. Rehab the vehicles: Replace trim pieces (foam, rubber, padding, etc.), repaint, maybe even get rid of that huge front to allow front riders more exposure to the wind. Retheme/refurb station: Repaint, add new stuff, redo queue, pretty much just make it new. Increase launch speed: Refurb or even replace existing LSMs to increase effeciency while decreasing power usage, thus allowing higher launch speed to be attained. Add theming: Maybe extend tunnel slightly, add theme elements near launch track to better theme the ride. Decrease noise: Maybe it's just me, but S:TE is WAY too loud! If they found some way to decrease the noise even slightly, I think it may be a good investment. Add special effects: Any themed soundtrack, fires, explosions, ice effects, water effects, etc. would make the ride more SFMMy. Increase capacity: Faster ride cycle, quicker loading/unloading procedure, quicker checks, etc. would increase the rides very low capacity. Maybe it's just me, but once again, adding backward facing cars just doesn't seem like a practical idea. If I recalled correctly the sign in front of Superman does not state "Something "PRACTICAL" is happening at Superman: The Escape." I mean what's so hard about accepting the possibility of accepting a backwards launch? Seriously I hope most of you know now that the Tower of Terror ride is going to launch BACKWARDS now! If you guys are bringing up problems that might arise if Superman:TE were to launch backwards don't you think they would be taking notes on the T.O.T. I think most of us are not mechanical engineers and I'm pretty darn sure they already looked into all of the "problems" mention here and others that we haven't even thought up. My gut feeling is that Superman:TE will launch backwards and I just hope what's happening to T.O.T. is a sign of things to come for Superman:TE... So please just sit back and enjoy the show, I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised.
  2. I haven't been to Knott's in awhile so I haven't been able to remember the price listed for the "after 4pm" tickets. Also I'm planning to go soon but in the afternoon and on so I didn't want a full price discounted ticket unless of course it's cheaper than the 4pm one, which I highly doubt.
  3. Hello amigos, I was trying to find on the Knott's website how much a "after 4pm" ticket cost. I probably missed it cause I'm blind as a bat when it comes to finding stuff like this.
  4. "...Back. Words..." I'm crossing my fingers on this one!
  5. Ha! What a silly idea. They would never do anything like that. We have a Winner! *I hope*
  6. For some reason all these ideas I'm hearing don't sound "Big" in my opinion so I'm going to give SFMM the benefit of the doubt and hope they blow me away for what they are planning for their 50th year anniversary. I honestly can't wait to see what they have in store for Superman.
  7. You know if you do stay over for one of the these events there's actually a chance you can have the entire station and X2 train all to yourself??? There's a picture floating around here to prove it...
  8. They did have a season pass holder appreciation night last year and it was awesome!
  9. Wow this guy lives pretty close to me. I'll see if I can find some extra tickets laying around my neighborhood
  10. Uh oh!!! Gametime is now and I don't even have my jersey and sneakers on... I will check with my folks just to make sure they weren't planning anything secretly behind my back but if they do I hope they were barely on the planning stages
  11. I was talking to my buddy Antonio about this trip and the funny thing about it is that it lands on my birthday. I'm so borderline on going just because I have to make sure my family aren't planning something for that date. This one maybe a game-time decision...
  12. Looks like fun but I'm still too chicken to try it
  13. Hmmm Eric, Brent and Gregg on board... sounds like it can turn out to be a lot of fun. I'm hoping we can get a nice group together that day. I wanted to post this event in advance so it would give people time to plan it out so no excuses ok kiddos.
  14. I think you have to opt-in to recieve email notifications about events for AAA memebers. Sounds like a very good deal especially the after hour perk for AAA members. As this event draws near hopefully we will see if a group can get together to go.
  15. I got an email from AAA about this event at SFMM on Friday May 21st... (Exclusive AAA Member Event at Six Flags) For just $25 per ticket, enjoy a full day at Six Flags Magic Mountain on Friday, May 21, 2010 and stay for a private AAA member event from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. The park will be closed to the public, and AAA members will enjoy exclusive use of the rides, shows, merchandise, and concessions. I was just wondering if they are any AAA members that would be planning to attend this event. Sounds like you can get some nice ERT after 6pm when the park closes to the public. I'll try to go and hope if others would like to join you guys can post in this topic and maybe get a group together for that day.
  16. Hmmm Gregg, I wonder if that "Josh" you mentioned is me? LOL!
  17. Yea Gregg please have fun for me buddy. Last year it was ridiculosly awesome making new buddies like yourself and I know everyone who's going will have a blast.
  18. I couldn't make it this year but I know all you guys will have an awesome time just like last year's WCB. Props again to Robb and Elissa for all their hard work, it's truly worth noting!
  19. ^ Now that's funny!
  20. Yea MSNBC has another article on it... Sheeeeeezzzzz! www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35205998
  21. I say 3 duckies but I'm so horrible at this that I should disqualify myself already!
  22. ^ I didn't know Terminator Salvation: The Ride is still in it's developmental stage...
  23. ^ I really like you're membership card idea but you should post the same image but with Elissa recommendation so it can read more like "Club TPR"
  24. I'm sure Big Mike will shed light on the situation. Either way congrats again buddy!
